At the hour and 35 minute mark, you two are spot on. This goes with almost anything too. Competition is good, but at some point, we all need to take a step and ask ourselves, "why are we doing this?" And then remember that we should still be having fun doing it too. Unless it is your literal occupation/livelihood, hobbies should still be fun, even if almost nothing goes right on a particular day.

Love Sam, this brought back sone memories for me, im only 53 and seen the tail end of what sam grew up in and those people are a different breed, i remember visiting my great grandpap as a kid and i was scared to death of the old outhouse you had to use at his house, and i remember thinking how strange it was great grandpap didnt have running water, then i remember being at my grandpaps and when he got home from work at the factory he went straight in the house grab his gun one of the dogs and would walk out to the woods behind his house and whatever he came home with was supper that night, needless to say when i got home from grandpaps i was hungry, then theres the 4-h memories i took dog obedience and i won first place in my age group 3 county fairs in a row, but never placed at state fair my dog always freaked out because of all the stuff going on around us in the coliseum where there were 3 judging ring going on at once, its just so amazing how far the world has come, seems like it was just a whole different life

Cooper had been in Florida too long. Gotta bring him up to Montana or South Dakota, hell even a little TexArkana and see the amazing fields of all kinds we turn over year round. I run a ranch right now with 5 million acres of workable farmland. And that’s a medium sized farm. Commercial usually buys out the bigger guys but when you can see to the horizon nothing but turned soil, all around you, you realize how big America really is

Listening to Sam made me realize how lucky I had it. Im 37, i was raised on a farm, 1930's tractors, hand tillers, chickens, cows, horses, pigs, rabbits, turkeys, opossums..We ran a wood mill, made alot of our own food, hunted and fished for meat..never anytime to relax, always something to do. Now, I work a computer related job, super tech savvy..Im so glad I got to grow up doing everything the old way. Makes me really appreciate my life now..

i sadly never got to farm when i got older. When i was young my grandpa owned and operated a really successful tobacco farm. So much so he was able to retire from farming before he passed. shit he had me out there at 5 picking tobacco with the hired help wearing gloves 3 sizes too big. Im 24 now

my uncle ended up taking it over and hes a raging ass who i refused to help. So he quit farming and i went and got my degree in Biological Engineering concentrated in Agriculture and dont regret a bit of it. Not the path I had in mind, but man do i fucking love it.

Great stuff Cooper, one thing stands out - when you and Sam discussed the importance of churches in bad times i.e. the pandemic etc, here in the UK the church has vurtually no impact on the community, in the pandemic they simply closed their doors and were nowhere to be seen, the community looked after itself.

I believe these will ultimately become your most viewed videos. As the older generation leaves this earth so does all of the knowledge of how to survive with less. Not very many today can make their own soaps, butter, medicines etc. Not to mention mechanical or electrical repairs and maintenance are unthinkable today.

Sam is like a lot of those i knew as a kid, and I'd like to think i am myself. They never met a stranger, there's nothing they won't do fot just about anyone, and you can probably count the people that don't get along with on one hand, and the same for those they themselves don't get along with That's over a lifetime span I'm talking about here too. Got out, got my A & P license, and have been employed, with a major airline for 34 years, as of today. I would never have had this opportunity without the Air Force. Coming from a poor upbringing, to living comfortably. Wouldn’t trade it for anything!

When Sam was growing up and before, parents didnt feel they had to apologize that the kids had to get up early do chores, no power, outhouse,. Because they knew hard work developed character. When a person goes through tough times, it makes anything easier seem like the wind is at your back.

Damn right, Clayton. Some better days behind us.
@sirmonkey198525 күн бұрын
it's not that they knew hard work developed character, it was that it was the only way of life they knew. if you grew up doing X Y and Z you're more likely to raise your kid with X Y and Z whether or not you know it's the right or wrong way. end of the day kids are sponges and they'll always imitate the adults from your childhood whether they know it or not and you'll pass it down to your kids. so the only one you can blame is yourself, blaming society, social media, etc is a cop out. perfect example is my grandfather, one question i always asked him is why he stayed in the military for so long even though he'd never be able to promote above staff sergeant and his answer was always "because i didn't know how to be a father so i figured the kids would be better off without me there". he despised his father for ignoring his family yet he did the exact same thing his father did because that was the only thing he knew. guess what his kids did...
@claytonjohn647324 күн бұрын
@@sirmonkey1985 True, we can tell our kids to do this or that. What they follow is the example we set for them. If the only example a kid has is a parent who acts unconfident, thats how the kid operates. They should have a class at school teaching how not to take things personal, or if someone is saying insults for no reason, the person has issues. When the kid doesnt have a good role model, they just stuff it when someone says something does something Stuffing it eventually blows up. God meant it when He said blessed for you and many generations or do the wrong thing and cursed for many generations

Get off their phones and electronics and do more outside with their hands. BTW, Young parents let your young kids go outside and play in the MUD and dirt. It wont hurt them to eat some. My Dad was on the USS MIDWAY for His service. He got the chance to see and be on a new ship in 2012. He said the difference was crazy but so much the same.
