The Mighty Jingles Hey Jingles, I would love to send you a World of Warships replay that earned me over 2.1k in base experience. Problem is, I have no idea how to contact you about your World of Warships replays. I know there is a database for World of Tanks replays and I have read your channel information and watched your video on how to record replays, but where do I send them? I know you probably get sent a ton of stuff, but I guess it is worth the try.

btw: the American submarine torpedo story. The sub returned with at least 2 torpedoes. The CO almost got in trouble for wasting all his other torpedoes on what was thought to be a decoy. The USN then conducted a firing test against a underwater rock formation with the remaining torpedoes. The first shot exploded ! The test was almost terminated, but wiser heads prevailed, and the second shot was launched and did not explode. Post test results found that the anti mining device on the warheads prevented detonation for a dead on hit, but not for a glancing blow. I lost the book which described this many years ago, but this much I do remember.

@rorschach61799 жыл бұрын
The Hungry Wolf 足柄 An admiral got sick of all the reports of dud torpedoes and ordered a cliff in Hawaii to be torped repeatedly! Divers would then go down to pick up the pieces. A lot of torps (battered, dented, but still in one piece) were picked up. Thats what it took to get the Ordnance guys to admit their mistake.
@1stPCFerret9 жыл бұрын
Quantum Shock Hah! It wouldn't go off anyway. Torpedoes needed to run a certain distance through the water before they armed themselves. That was part of the problem with the US Mk 14 torpedoes an their Mk 6 exploders. See +Rorschach617 reply.
@13stalag136 жыл бұрын
+1stPCFerret Actually, not only was the depth regulator making them run too deep, but the actual firing pin for contact detonation was too weak, and usually broke before it would detonate the torpedo.

those torps got my uncle Roy killed along with the crew of Argonaut, But I think they were dead the moment the captain went after a convoy screened by Maikaze, Isokaze and Hamakaze. I don't think the captain made the right choice with a Boat like Argonaut. she was slow , dive time was 52 seconds and no after torpedo tubes. She just wasn't built to attack, but rather to lay mines. hence the designation SM-1. ( the only one)

That Jim carrey clip was a classic! Its so true though. Battleship drivers certainly make it easy for destroyers. When you do eventually come up against a battleship driver who knows what the rudder is. It makes it decidedly harder for destroyers.
@Harv72b9 жыл бұрын
I remember reading about the defective American torpedoes in WWII some time ago. If I recall correctly, the issue turned out to be that the nose of the torpedo would collapse on impact, which crushed the detonator before it could fire. So until they worked that out, American crews had to aim their torps so they'd hit the target on an angle, instead of head on, in order to get the desired explosion. On the bright side, the real destroyers' engines didn't get knocked out every time an enemy shell came within half a click of them.

Jingles, that enemy Isokaze that got himself spotted beyond his own detection range wasn't firing the guns - he triggered his speed booster. Look at the sudden plume of thick, black smoke from his funnels. It's an undocumented effect that Wargaming apparently didn't think they should tell us about, but that booster actually makes you visible at something like 10% to 15% longer range.

You know, when I heard Jingles say that this Isokaze was an Isokaze-class destroyer, I was just about to rage at him, because the Isokaze I know is a Kagero-class destroyer. But Jingles always does his research when showcasing a ship, so I thought it was weird that he would somewhat be mistaken this time. So I did some research of my own. It turns out that the Isokaze in WoWs is indeed the Isokaze-class nameship, launched in 1916. The one I know was the Kagero-class Isokaze launched in 1939. Two different ships from different eras. Curiously, the 4 Isokaze-class destroyers also have their names on corresponding Kagero-class destroyers. Of course, when the Kagero-class was created, the Isokaze-class no longer existed - all 4 Isokaze-class destroyers were retired in 1936, where the first of the 19 Kagero-class destroyers was laid down in 1937. Pardon my ravings, carry on, nothing to see here.

I actually had some monster games in the Isokaze while I was making a bee line to the Minekaze. It's a great little DD, and there's nothing more satisfying than bagging BB after BB because they're too dumb to dodge torpedoes. It's a shame I didn't know how to record replays before, because some of my games have been similar to this in kills... perhaps not style though, which makes all the difference when Overlord Jingles picks them.

The Mighty Jingles 35:00 The other Isokaze was spotted at 6.3km because he was likely using his boost. It actually pushes your detection out by 0.2km while it is in use. If he fired guns, we'd see the shells and the detection is pushed out somewhere around 4 extra km. This is important in the later tiers where the slower DDs are hard pressed to outrun cruisers. Hitting the boost just means you have to get that much farther away to be safe.

Another entertaining video Jingles! Keep up the awesome work~ *gives Jingles some cookies* But, I disagree with you about those torpedos and that DD you accidentally sunk... Yes, torpedo equipped ships need to be aware of where friendlies are BEFORE they shoot, but after that, it's up to everyone else on their team to not DRIVE INTO said torpedos targeting track. Everyone, friendly and enemy, gets a warning on their HUD for any torpedos near them. If people would actually pay attention to their HUD, and the "ding ding" sonar sound, there would be far less "friendly fire" torpedo incidents. Beside that Jingles, you managed to make me laugh again~ I can't wait for your next video...

***** He does acknowledge at one point in the video that an Isokaze will still likely lose in a gunnery duel with it's tier 4 counterpart. What I got out of it was that the Isokaze's guns are good - for Japanese guns. They still aren't as good as American guns, but that's to be expected.
@bluenova1239 жыл бұрын
Photanic And if played well it could win a gunfight, especially if the Clemson is around half health. Unlike the tier 5 where if it kills anything with its guns, it is embarrassing for its victim.

Entertainingly, theres no mention on the clemsons gun upgrade tooltip to tell the player that they'll be doubling the things firepower, which leads a lot of players to go for the torpedo upgrade first.
@lolroflroflcakes9 жыл бұрын
Actually Jingles the New York still screwed up badly, the last thing you want to do is turn towards a destroyer in a battleship as it reduces the amount of time you have to deal with the problem by a third or more. If you turn away it still reduces the destroyers chances of hitting you with enough torps to kill you and it also buys you time to maneuver in response to his attacks, reload your guns and let your secondaries work him over. Turning towards him is just like going, "oh hey there Mr destroyer I don't know why you opened up on me with your guns outside of torp range but let me just help you fix that problem by letting you close with me even faster."

Deefultz42 The terrible part? This kept happening, because nobody believed that submarine commander. Even worse, he, or some DD-commander that thad the exact same problem, even get effectively fired because he kept insisiting that the torpedoes are shot and not the crews. It took the US almost till 1944, to get their heads out of their arses about those terrible torpedoes. And the solution? They had to deactivate the magnetic detonator (the prime reason for the error, as the magnetic detonator just didn't work) and retrim every single torpedo before firing them (the other big problem was that *ALL* of them ran too deep).

The japanese DD guns aren't really bad, you just have to work around them. The main thing is they have an AWFUL turn rate, so let's say you've spotted a US DD, what you do is fire your torps in a bracket (one set in front, one dead on target, the other behind) then you fire your guns, turn into him to dodge his return fire, than turn back fire another volley and run away until you're no longer spotted, rinse and repeat.

I want to point to the fact that those torps are the second fastest ones in the game. Only Senjo/Zao has torps that are faster and it is tier 10. Even in Minekaze I use those torps which are stock. Slow torpedoes can be dodged so much easier, so between Izo and Mine, Isokaze would be more powerful for it's tier simply because it has torpedo speed which no other torps can compare to. Still we all choose Minekaze for the speed which the Izokaze sorely lacks.

The Mighty Jingles Here's what I do, if I launch torps with friendlies are in my vicinity: I simply write "torps out!" in chat, to alert the others that I've launched torps. It usually helps, and has in one situation avoided somebody running into my torps, and me teamkilling him. Alerted by my message he looked around and turned well in advance.

I had fun in the Isokaze, certainly I do enjoy the Minekaze though. There is one thing to keep in mind, when you have a 6.1km detection range AND you equip the -3% detection camo, your going to be detected under 6km. I've had some very NARROW moments sneaking around the map. Being the last one on the team vs 4 enemies and winning some.
@rogerwilco29 жыл бұрын
PerfectDeath4 It's even more fun if you only have 18 health remaining. But you can win a game in IJN destroyers like in no other ships.

Are you talking about that replay BaronVonGamez had with his Iowa or similar high tier BB? I do remember a last-carrier-standing doing the exact same thing in his replay

Hiya Jingles, I am a player that almost only plays IJN DD and I do agree on your tk. In fact I think as a DD captain, IF you tk, even if it is not your fault (sometimes it really isn't) it is "always your fault and you say sorry" . I do like the iso, besides the mine it is my most played DD. This MIGHT change when I get the Kami (kind of counting on me getting one with the 260 pearls) but for now, Iso and Minekaze rock. Love the replays. Have used your videos a lot as reference and learning material so many thanks for all your uploads :)

Did that guy that Jingles team killed in the first replay really text ""tis but a scratch". A Monty Python and the Holy Grail reference in WOW. Life is good...

Jingles, are you watching the TV show "The Last Ship"? It's a post apocalyptic show based on a book from the 80's that I own but never got round to reading. It is pretty good, and given your love of the Navy, I think you'll enjoy it immensely. Kind regards, Amy.

I wonder what jingles has to say about the fact that "the germanz are comming!" in October, while the Royal Navy will not come before 2016.
@petrussillanpaa91619 жыл бұрын
Si Wi Maybe that is because it is going to be much harder to do the Royal Navy line up than say Reichsmarine/Kriegsmarine and the reason for that is not what most people would think it is. For example in the German line up if they are going to do full carrier line then they have to literally pull most of those carriers out of their arse because there just weren't any in IRL. One partially build and one or two in plans. The Royal Navy on the other hand is whole different affair. There are SO many ships from which to choose that picking right ones and balancing them out over the tiers is going to be nightmare.
@Nonsense0106889 жыл бұрын
Petrus Sillanpää I respect your attempts to rationalize WG decisions, but I think it is simply due the fact that the german speaking community of WG is quite big and the German fleet has some reputation (earn or not earned doesn't matter). Also I don't really see it as more problematic to "create" ships, than use historical ones. My guess is the later is even easier, research wise.
@thehungrywolf33239 жыл бұрын
Petrus Sillanpää At least the germans had blueprints and plans for aircraft carriers. The Soviets earliest carrier is from the 1970s.
@heridfel9 жыл бұрын
Si Wi While I am happy that they're rolling out the German Navy, I am puzzled that the Royal Navy comes later. After all, it was leading ship design until WWII, so it should be easier. I am sure we'll also get a French and an Italian line, although Italy had even less by way of carrier design than Germany.

So I have a question, if I send in a replay. Will jingles be able to watch it in higher graphics than I've sent it in, like can jingles adjust it or something. Cause I've had some great games and will probably have some more but I have a shitty laptop and so I have shitty graphics and shitty frame rate. So I wouldn't even have to bother to send in any replays if jingles can't watch it in better graphics and better frame rate, cause it would 1st never be shown on the channel (because if poor quality) and 2nd he probably doesn't want to watch such shifty fps.... Please if anyone can help me answer this question I'll be grateful.

Don't feel too bad Jingles. I sunk 2 friendly ships in one game when I first played Warships in closed beta lol.
