Hello wareboilers, what is the difference between a blowdown tank and a separator? Is it just name?

A separator separates steam from the water and has an after cooler allowing the water to cool faster / go down the drain faster. A blow down tank just holds the water allowing it to cool gradually over time. Blowdown tanks are usually larger in size
