I have a Boker that was apparently at least assembled in Germany and one that has definitely never spent a second in Germany. The way I see it is you generally get a good standard at all the price points from the gold shield ones to the Magnums, only ever bought one I thought was a bit garbage and even that is perfectly functioning. Not everyone can go gold shield including myself but I can still get a good knife. This was a great gift from Jersey, very nice knife.
@ThriftyKaniffy Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your thoughts, JK. Boker really does make an effort to hit several price points with their product lines and I appreciate them for continuing to make traditionals. A little something for everyone.

I was curious on your thoughts on that price point!!!! I could have done away with the etch on the blade….. and the fit and finish is ok…… it seems like we’re pretty much on par with one another…… I was also looking at the folding hunter with a nice leather sheath!!!! But what’s keeping me away is that big etch but other than that it’s a good user and I think D2 steel is fine with me I know a lot of people are gettin tired of D2 but that stuff gets sharp and I never had one rust!!!!! Anyway I have different knives that I’ll send you to check out I’ve got a few on my mind!!!! Thanks John stay well buddy catch you soon😊
@ThriftyKaniffy Жыл бұрын
D2 is fine for smaller knives. Many modern guys appreciate only the most modern super steels. I don't fall into that trap, give me a good carbon blade any day that I can quickly turn into a laser.

I've been waiting for the Boker Traditional 2.0 Series Whittler to come out. And you're right on the branding and pricing for slipjoints: entry level Magnum = China made and assembled, mid market Boker Traditional = Chinese parts assembled in Germany and top of line Boker Manufaktur Solingen = German blades and assembly (and priced > $100). Then there is Boker Plus which is is mostly mid market but has pricier models and generally modern materials made in China. It's all about choices for the consumer!

Yes, Boker do a good job of offering models at different price points. Thanks, Daniel.

There's a lot of tales about this Boker line. The Boker Manufaktur in which this knife was made is in fact a German production in their factory placed in Remscheid, a city near to Solingen, 100% German materials, but made by machinery, not by hand as the Boker Manufaktur Solingen products. Difference? Handmade knives are stock limited. The Tree Brand was introduced in US in the 1900's because of difficulties for English speakers, considering analphabetic percentage those days, was pretty easy identify a tree more than a Böker word. Great knife at affordable price.

It’s a beautiful knife. It does remind me of the Case tribal lock. I actually have the grey one. Your bone is actually prettier than my Case. As far as where it is made we will never know.
