I don't know. It was pretty awkward for her. There's too much stuff going on in which she had nothing to do with it, but yet, she's in the middle listening to all of it. Realistically, most women would want to leave. She "barely" knows Ridge and she doesn't even know Brooke and James.🤷

I wouldn't have faulted Ronda if she had left, when that date seemed to turn hostile so quickly, Ridge acting rudely. But it kinda seems that Rhonda did not have that much expectations in the first place when she had reached out to Ridge (knowing about his wife's death, Bridget having been shot and hospitalized, Ridge worried about the engagement/future marriage). Here she talks to James that Ridge currently has so much going on, to deal with and is hurting.

But we're not professional looking because they said the make-up artist couldn't come in that day I was told later on that's not a real agency. Real ones don't ask for up front fee. I went to another talent agency, they didn't ask me for any money.

*DINING OUT ON SOAPS* It just occurred to me that these kinds of dining out scenes with multiple couples in the same room are an important staging ground for soaps and romantic dramas. Here we have Ridge being jealous of Brooke & James even as his date is right there. It's reminiscent of when Brooke took Ridge to the same restaurant she knew Taylor & Blake were dining at, or when Stephanie and Eric showed up at the same restaurant and saw Ridge kiss Brooke, or when Brooke took Connor to the same restaurant on their first date that she knew Taylor & Ridge were dining at. Such scenes allow for desire and envy to come to the surface, for couples to be compared and even rearranged (depending on the seating or who's dancing with who) and for ideal pairings to be suggested. Everyone is dressed up and the formality of the event makes conflict and tension even stronger as characters are urged not to make a scene, and so much can be gleaned from a raised voice or an abrupt exit. And of course it's also a space to see and be seen, as if the characters are on display. Couples dining out is to soaps what a car chase is to an action film or what a haunted house is to a horror film.

Great observation! You are so right - soaps really need this kind of public setting in order to make people observe and interact with each other. That is why the restaurant/bar/coffee house sets are so central. We need them, and we need them to be recognizable and have an identity of their own (Café Russe is a good example). They also add a realistic touch by including extras, showing us that the characters exist in a world populated by other people, which is important in order for the show not to feel claustrophobic.

*Anthony's covert plot control* This entire tantrum of Anthony's, with him supposedly planning to leave town because he is frustrated with his non-existent love life, has one purpose and one alone - to seduce Darla. This is the _third_ Spectra woman he is playing. And just like he was using Macy's kindness and empathy against her when he hired Keith and Kevin, or invented a dead cat, and like he was feeding into Sally's romantic fantasies, her wish to have a father figure for her son, and her need to feel desirable after being rejected by other men, now he is using Darla's loyalty to Spectra Fashions against her. He is finding the weak spot in each of them and that's where he strikes (and, ironically, these weak spots are actually mainly _positive_ traits, especially in the cases of Macy and Darla). These scenes are also a good example of how Anthony operates - he aims for _covert plot control._ He works a bit like a mentalist, by planting suggestions that he knows will make the other person respond a certain way. It is, by the way, the exact method used by Iago in Shakespeare's Othello (whom I consider one of Anthony's closest relatives in terms of character types). And when Anthony lashes out because Macy is pursuing a singing career, it shows his frustration that Macy is doing something which is _beyond his control,_ and which is shifting the power balance in their relationship in her favor. so he looks elsewhere for a woman who is more susceptible to his suggestions - just like he turned to Sally the first time he was frustrated that Macy wasn't taking his bait.

This is an interesting read. I didn't get Anthony as playing Darla in the scene.. I got him as more doing his usual tantrum throwing behaviour when he doesn't get what he wants. But I can see what you are saying. I just think Darla became a convenient other woman for him as she suggested it. Bc it's Anthony and.. Why not Darla... (Altho why he can't just find another lady in this whole town is beyond me). I just find Darla takes the saying "taking one for the team" a little *too* literally.

Macy's sight-reading skills must be so-so. She is holding what looks like sheet music for a classical violin piece and apparently reads it as "These Boots Are Made For Walking". Either the director thought "hey, let's just use whatever was on Jessica's music stand the other week, nobody will ever notice", or someone behind the scenes has a sense of humor. Judging by Macy's fake skull tattoo later in the scene, I would guess the latter.

I first have been a bit surprised with Connor's turn. First he seemed quite opposed but later he seemed to enjoy the recording session, was even standing kinda close to the guy he had argued with, had doubted, and smiled . But Connor didn't really have much choice. Macy really wanted that recording session and chance and had been ready to pay for it.
