After just being at the hospital and upsetting Stephanie, Brooke tells Rick and Amber not to go there because "Stephanie needs rest". And then she tells them to "put aside their differences" with Stephanie - with Amber correctly pointing out that _they_ are not the ones having "differences" with Stephanie. Brooke needs to listen to her own advice instead of giving it to others to whom it doesn't apply.

Yes, Ridge and Eric both did what Thorne is doing now. But does that mean that they shouldn't try to save Stephanie's life? I don't really see hypocrisy as much as _genuine fear_ that Stephanie will die unless Thorne ends his relationship with Brooke. And Eric, having realized what a colossal mistake his own marriage to Brooke was, is trying to prevent Thorne from making the same mistake. He would be _more wrong_ if he *didn't* try to warn Thorne.

So she plays it open minded with Amber until she gets involved with her own young grandson.
