I agree with you on the U sights, l do not like all of the extra space. I feel like my shots go all over the place with them. The first gun l ever shot and qualified for my CC, was a stock G45. So l bought a G45, but after l purchased it l noticed it came with ameriglo H3 sights already installed. So l thought cool, upgraded sights. Until I went to the range with it and realized l don’t like U shaped sight on my gun. Obviously being a new shooter, lm introducing my own errors, shooting low and to the left, to high, to low, Swiss cheese groupings. So I’m going to have to practice. But 700 rds in, I truly don’t care for U shaped sights on a Glock. I think the glocks grip angle slightly angles the barrel of the gun downward, naturally and for me makes point of impact less predictable. So l think the square notch helps to give me a good reference point to get the gun level to compensate, I can’t do that as consistently with the U shape with my old eyes. Otherwise my sight picture, to be somewhat accurate, I have to aim slightly higher, rather than having the tops of both sights aligned and level with each other.

Does it bother you not having the rear sight go all the way to the back of the slide?

No. The sights have a good sight picture when looking down them. I haven’t noticed a difference when I am using them.
