Ridges attitude is like 🤮 he is playing his games and Rhonda, a total stranger, sees through him like through glas. He realizes, than being against brooke and james would bring them closer together. So he turns his strategy and obviously wants to make Brooke jealous. I really regret that he will get through with it.. and the whole drama starts again. Thumbs up for Rhonda in this epi, she brings in a new vibe whereas Ronn Moss was not in his best acting... in my mind.

Not sure about Stephanie's talk with Jessica. +) Stephanie commented that Sly is a very grown up man and not really Jessica's age group. She has questioned Jessica if Sly is drinking when he is taking Jessica out and if he is offering Jessica alcohol. -) I would have liked to know what Stephanie had meant, when she suggested that Sly could take Jessica somewhere else. I definitely wouldn't want Sly to take 17 year old to his place and I am not sure if Stephanie takes Sly for a guy who would take Jessica to a concert or a restaurant. I am not liking that SL that had all the Forresters not minding that inexperienced 16/17 year old Jessica was going on dates with the manager of a bar, when they had not even yet been able to talk to her parents (and what they expect from them and Jessica).

I'm on the same page with you. The writers were trying to do a PSA on teenage drinking, when that isn't the issue here.... I wish they had just brought Jessica in as an 18 yo already. Bc the fact that she is allowed to date and befriend other ppl aged 18 + is really disturbing and unreal.

Exactly this! The writers are making a big deal out of Jessica possibly, maybe, tasting alcohol, while a lot of other more problematic issues seem to simply fly under the radar. Sly being _very_ much older than Jessica (with all that means in terms of relationship expectations) is a big one. But also the way Jessica seems to be absorbing an unhealthy focus on weight from the models (not wanting to gain weight before her 17th birthday? Really?) and how Stephanie only laughs at this remark without commenting on it.

One of the things about Sly, he's never crossed the line with Stephanie. Later on he told her he admires her. An unpopular opinion but I would've wanted Sly and Stephanie to have a fling. Not B&B standards

Enough with Ivana the Super Model with two roommates and a nobody intern boyfriend. In 1994 real supermodels Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbel and Christ Turlington were featured in an iconic George Michael music video Freedom. Crawford was married to Richard "sexiest man alive" Gere, Naomi was dating Bono from U2 and Turlington was dating Christian Slater. They weren't slumming it in a small L.A. apartment. "I don't want to put on any weight before my birthday" - says Jessica, and the writers (and Stephanie) treat it like it's a normal thing for a perfectly healthy looking teenager to say... If the show was actually _going_ somewhere with this talk about weight (that Jessica obviously picked up from the models) I might understand it. But it's just there and the writers treat it like it's not problematic, just like they treat her dating Sly like it's not problematic, while only making a big deal out of Jessica possibly drinking alcohol.

The writers are trying to give Jessica every teenage angst that ever existed, so they don't know which one to properly deal with and end up glossing over alot, making for some awkward storylines. Not to mention a 16 yo travelling to LA by herself and her parents haven't called once to find out if she made it, nor is anyone bothered about where they are. They really should have just brought her in as an 18yo from the beginning.

The Y&R story was also just much better written, featured one of the great young actresses (Heather Tom) her love interest was also a good actor (Scott Reeves), and the story centered the main lead actors on the show (Eric Braeden and Melody T. Scott) who were her parents, not her aunt and uncle. All of that made the Y&R story more compelling.

*THE DINING TABLES HAVE TURNED* I like that Rhonda sees through Ridge and calls him out. She's a device to let us know that there is more going on here, to instruct the viewer how to "read" the scene. The show has done this before with Ridge - recall the model he used to make Brooke think he was cheating so she would go back to Eric. That woman ended up revealing the truth to Brooke and adding, "He loves you very much." Similarly here Rhonda is revealing the truth (and a _similar truth_ ) to the audience. On the surface it seems like Ridge stopped being a jealous jerk and gave James & Brooke his blessing right? But that's not what's actually happening and instead Rhonda lets us know that Ridge is actually deploying a new "strategy" to undermine Brooke & James' elopement. And indeed his new tactic already seems to be working! Brooke is instantly disturbed by Ridge's toast and his affected display of affection for Rhonda. The (dining) tables have turned and now _Brooke_ is the one who's jealous! She has lost control of the romantic fantasy she was trying to construct (where Ridge & James fight over her love). Instead Ridge taken control of this plot and has revealed Brooke's true feelings and his own. James doesn't realize it yet but his relationship with Brooke is already over.

Shouldn't Stephanie better give Jessica the talk about unplanned pregnancy, how to have safe sex, when Jessica keeps dating an older man, has started to become interested in another man? Stephanie in 1994 already had the backstory that she got pregnant while she was still a freshman (unplanned pregnancy). For people who remember Morgan DeWitt and the SL in 2000 spoiler spoiler It is kinda ironic We have Stephanie here encouraging her 16/17 year old niece to socialize/ date with much more experienced people like 18 year old (partying) model Ivana or bikini manager Sly. But in 2000 Morgan will turn up and talk about her emotional trauma, how she had been a 17 year old model who had gotten pregnant by Ridge Forrester but Stephanie then had talked her into getting an abortion.
