Usually, there would only be 2 teams representing Tokyo, but because they are hosting the tournament, they get an extra representative. Nekoma is actually pretty lucky to get a chance to go if they place third

I checked out the article my HQ community whipped up about the tournaments after doing some research - it says that Inter-High's host changes every year, but Spring Tournament stays in Tokyo. Yoyogi is the name of another are of Tokyo (and the gym), nothing more. But if anyone knows better, feel free to correct me on this

@@TrianaNero , Interhigh changes prefectural host every year. Haruko is always in Tokyo- ever since Tokyo Metro was constructed, it moved there from Yoyogi National Stadium. Idk why they inserted that line from Kageyama that Little Giant was in Yoyogi since it doesnt match up irl timeline of the one time Tokyo Metro was shut down for renovations and it moved back to Yoyogi again, in 2012 iirc. Otherwise, Haruko is always in Tokyo Metro, except in 2020 when it was used for table tennis during the Olympics

It's actually crazy that there are only 2 representatives for Tokyo (plus 1 for being the host of the tournament) when there are over 100 high school boys volleyball club there. Adjusted for the population, if Miyagi has 1 representative, Tokyo should have 6 iirc.

11:49 I thought the same thing in the Aoba Josai rematch, then Shiratorizawa managed to match it and arguably surpass that match, then I thought the same thing about Shiratorizawa; "this is peak Haikyuu, no way they'll reach these heights again", then season 4 drops what is easily the best match in the series so far... Now I've learned to never doubt Furudate-Sensei.

I guess that barriers are being installed for several reasons: 1) so that the spectators do not interfere with the game (for example, they do not come too close to the court, thereby leaving less and less space for the game and increasing the risk of injury to themselves and the players), 2) so that the balls do not roll too far after each point and players or personnel do not have to run after them all over the place (running after the ball is too troublesome and take time from the game), 3) so that if there are several courts in the hall, players and balls on one court would not interfere with the game on another court. P.S. I'm sorry for my English, I hope you can understand at least the main idea

Alternative uniforms exist everywhere, not just Tokyo, and they're usually worn when the 2 teams have similar colors to have more contrast so you can tell the teams apart more easily! While I kind of agree about the Shiratorizawa game in regards to the long set-up and space levels of hype, I hardly think that you'd be disappointed by what the story has in stock~ It will be different but incredible nevertheless! About these 2 OVA games in particular though - sadly, they ended up getting cut pretty short :( A bunch of stuff was missed here from the manga. If anything, the stage play for Tokyo prelims did a much better job at adapting those chapters. The barriers discussion tho :"D I can't be 100% sure, but I imagine their main function is to simply put a clear border between "game space" and the rest (spectators in this case). If you see the Olympic court, the barriers are also up in a very similar fashion - only there the stands are way further, and the barriers are in front of the tables for the officials, photographers etc, also creating a bit of a "buffer" zone between the stands and the court. I guess maybe it was the lesser evil..? Players do jump over those sometimes, or even break them, so the barriers are probably not that tough. I can't remember any injury off the top of my head happening because of the barrier, though I'm sure it's possible if you're unlucky enough.
@wreathoflaurel2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for pointing the alternate uniforms! This was actually shown previously with Aoba Johsai, who used their alternate uniform when they played against Dateko (since the uniforms of both teams are mostly white). And I do agree, the stage play (Tokyo no Jin / The Tokyo Matches) really adapted this arc better than the anime did, which is understandable considering they only had two episodes for this.
@TrianaNero2 жыл бұрын
@@wreathoflaurel that's right, forgot about Seijou! It's a nice example. And Tokyo no Jin is a work of art honestly ;A; Subbing the curtain call for it now and getting so emo. I understand the restrictions the anime studio must've had, but it's still a bit of a shame.

7:30 for the translation error are you talking about “chance ball” being translated to “free ball” or was it something else? If it was that, “free ball” is how most English speaking players refer to an easy receive, so some people could find that very helpful.
@kunterborn12 жыл бұрын
I would have preferred having those barriers when I played. Our court was right up against wooden bleachers, and trust me, tumbling into them left bruises on several occasions. Also, I once had an experience where a parent on the opposing team wouldn't stop crowding the court lines on our side just so she could call me names [She eventually got thrown out of the match because my mom (who was running the scoreboard), heard her and told the ref during the timeout. So, long story short, I like the barriers, but yes, like any obstruction, they can cause problems. We only had alternative uniforms once, but we had personalized uniforms to make up for it.
@mediam39572 жыл бұрын
I didn't work on the show, so I don't know the exact reasoning. However, the subtitling was changed to try to match North American volleyball jargon, so if you were to watch an actual match, this is what you would hear commentators and players say. There are actually some poor translations in the first season more than anything. Some are very literal, or there are a few things that just don't get the grammar right. The worst translation I've seen on the show is when they changed "block follow" to "follow up with a block" last season.

Japan is small, gymnasiums are limited, and there are many small gymnasiums. There are many sports club games in elementary school, junior high school, and high school, and it is very difficult. I wasn't in the volleyball club, but in Japan some sports often have multiple games in one gym. Players and officials pass by the barricade. Most barricades are soft so that players can hit them. I don't know because I don't see much of the games in other countries, but I thought it was normal! So it's a new discovery, I agree with Carson! It would be great if children could play a match in a very large space! I use a translator, I'm sorry!
