10:30 The thing is that Boji didn't do any damage to Daida, it seemed as if he was just mocking him.

Episode 1 : protect Boji at all cost ! Episode 2 : and Kage too ! All the characters are pretty grey. Like Domas, Boji's teacher, who show pride and frustration on training Boji. While Bebin, Daida's teacher, show some interest and consideration for Boji. So your expectations might be destroyed pretty quick :p At least I can't wait to see your reactions to how the show progress !

This was the episode that made me fall in love with the series and convinced me to continue it on a weekly basis. Many series can try to establish a character's sad past by simply throwing lots of tragic facts at you with the intention of making you cry (without really trying to develop sympathy for the character of that story), but the way Ousama Ranking manages to tell you the story of Kage is so well done that just manages to hook you with this being that does not have a defined form. I didn't cry, but I did connect quite a bit with the character of Kage and it touched my heart. Although I expected Lindsay to cry at the end of the story (it's touching how Kage grows fond of the man who treated him badly, but was also the only one who gave him shelter when he was helpless), but I was surprised that from the beginning together with Carson you couldn't stop crying. I'm glad that the series can really convey these feelings to you.

this was the last anime i watched with my ex, beginning of the last year. we never finished it together, by the time the last two episodes were out we were already leaving separatedly. this episodes brings me back to those times. its a very sad episode. we both were always complaining about the town people being just abusives sacks of shit for treating kage and bojji that way. this episode filled me with tears again, for whatever was happening to kage and bojji, the injustices, but also remembering our moments watching good stuff. ousama no ranking was a revelation in 2021 for sure. that and the heike story. two new gems. but ousama surprises me more because its a very unusual shonen, especially the artstyle seems like it comes from the 70s era of anime. I like when authors risk their works appeal by trying different styles because its honestly tiresome seeing the same style reused in every anime. team bojji forever btw. and kage is MVP of this season definitely!

I use a translator, sorry! Bojji and Kage make me cry 😭 In my previous comment, I said that wit studio was in a difficult business situation after AoT production, but they were saved by "Ranking of kings", but I'll correct it a bit. According to interviews with the producers, he said they were struggling financially from 2018 to 2020. So I realized that it was probably difficult not only after AOT production but also during production. I may be wrong. Sorry for the unclear statement. But I also read an article saying that "Ranking of kings" saved them☺️Bojji saved them! There are many studios that are struggling financially even though they make great animations. Sad 😭 I love wit studio's delicate and beautiful drawing and powerful animation! I would love to cheer them on my way! Sorry for the disorganized document! I love this story, which is both sad and heartwarming at the same time!
@jemma2607 Жыл бұрын
Don't apologize that much. English's not my first language and I could understand you perfectly! Yeah, I also knew about that. Hope Wit studios will do better form now on because I just love their products. By the way, since you're probably Japanese: How did Ranking of Kings sell in Japan? For me, it was the best anime of that season and, at least here in Latin America it wasn't very popular, sadly.
@omiku9103 Жыл бұрын
@@jemma2607Thank you for your understanding! I like to make comments, but I'm always worried if I'm getting my point across 😂 I feel like the president is reforming the company and it's headed in the right direction. (Previously, employees said they had very little time off 🥺) I really want this studio to go well! In Japan, unfortunately, I feel that there weren't many people watching it. The style is cute and simple, but the content is quite heavy, and some people say that they can't understand the character's thoughts, so I feel that it was a work with different tastes. There were AOT and Demon slayer in the same season, so it was difficult to be popular. But I think there are many people who just listened to word of mouth and watched it later! I thought it would be tough because the disk sales didn't sell much, but the second season has been decided! (But I'm a little worried about how much the studio will be able to spend. 🥺)The exclusive distribution was good, and I have the impression that it was quite supported by the overseas popularity! I thought it was important how much the company imagined when creating the work. There is also a Japanese site that highly rated this work☺️That's my personal feeling.I love making works that can feel the love of wit!! Thank you for your comment!

And thus we bear witness to the birth of a beautiful friendship between two "misfits". Enjoy the ride while it lasts! 😉 And yeah, it sucks that the kingdom isn't open-minded enough to accept a more defensive style of swordsmanship, but looking at it from their perspective, it makes sense why. Their king is literally a powerful giant who can single-handedly destroy an entire army of monsters on his own, so I can see why they'd hold his offspring to similar standards, lol.

@@adva1282 yeah, I agree sadly, after they leave Despa, the series is kind of all over the place imo, and I have some STRONG distaste for the ending (especially all the Miranjo stuff)
@sweet-nessu Жыл бұрын
@@x10018ro I mean, yeah, but I think that aside from the Miranjo shenanigans, there’s a lot of pretty decent stuff in the ending still. I’d say the bad aspects of this show are just that it sometimes spreads itself too thin with the story and also some of the pacing drags a bit, which eventually leads to the miranjo stuff happening.
@x10018ro Жыл бұрын
@@sweet-nessu Yeah its not bad, but it made me give it a 7/10 when the whole show easily had 9/10 potential from very early on (I would say the first couple of episodes are actually just 10/10s). You're right that it spreads itself too thin. I like that it tries to expand a lot on less important things to flesh them out, looking at it more from just a Season 1 standpoint, I could forgive a lot more I would say, for setup purposes. But nothing could make me like the Miranjo plotline. I hate that character. Nothing she does makes sense, she commits horrible atrocities and everyone forgives her because idk she has a sad backstory? Never cared for such careless redemption, and don't even make me remember Daida actually fucking marrying his FATHERS LOVER??? (The wiki says he's her surrogate father, but thats not how I read their relationship at all man) WHYYY the whole thing feels wrong, Daida is just a boy why does he even want to marry someone at all. Do some adventuring like Bojji, Daida, do something else.
@geraldthegoose1685 Жыл бұрын
@@x10018ro yeah, I personally thought the episodes went from a steady 10/10 to 9/10 to 8/10 then back to 9/10 until that final episode which is like a 3/10. Honestly, after they left the training it wasn't bad just some hiccups here and there but it wasn't bad I personally enjoyed the kingdom attack arc (?) Because of Ouken and Gigan those 7 or 8 episodes were actually great in my opinion. I was okay with Miranjo getting her backstory and seeing why she is messed up but I draw the line at the engagement because like you said that's his father's step daughter and it just feels weird that everyone is okay ESPECIALLY BOJI "I mean you killed my mom but you had a sad backstory so your off the hook"

Kage wasn't happy to see the man, he was sad that he was killed because he developed a sort of Stockholm Syndrome. His life was so miserable after his mother was killed and that man was the only person who showed him any kindness. Kage couldn't tell that the man didn't care for him at all and just wanted to use him.
