Great video and very helpful in terms of fuel supply and return line positioning. Toward the end, you mentioned that even at low idle the head still spins and that you weren't sure if there was a clutch or not. I just picked up a BL160 at the curb last night and going through it, yes it does have a conventional centrifugal-bell clutch. It's possible that one of the clutch friction show return springs has detached or broken if the cutting head moves constantly under idle conditions.

So I recently had this trimmer given to me because they could not get it running, all It needed was the carb cleaned. I put it in my ultrasonic cleaner it now runs like new. My question is, does this model have a clutch? I tried idling it down but the head still spins. If I go to low it stalls out... I'm asking you because you repaired the same trimmer. I really don't want to take it apart if I don't have to. Thank you for any help

Well I googled a carburetor for a bolens weed eater and according to the Google description this video was supposed to explain to me how to unclog a carburetor which is impossible on cheap ass or even expensive weed eaters

The video never said anything about unclogging a carb. Also i dont own google. But you do what i say in this video and your junk ass trimmer will run like new.

not realy. the carb kits are so cheap its best to replace everything

carb is preset. high may need to be turned counterclockwise to stop bogging a most

I love how simple you make the job look . I just got done replacing belts and greasing and replacing the spindle and blades and oil air and fuel filters on my cub cadet v twin ride on mower and belts grease and blades on the troybuilt mower ride on , 3 acres so 2 mowers makes it easier 1 cools while other one works and if one breakdown other hopefully works not always though . Woud it be worth it to get the bolens if he still has that bolens

3 acres? bolens? id say echo or stihl not a homeowner trimmer. they will last longer and they are way more powerful you'll get done faster.

i COULD GET A BOLENS RETURNED BRAND NEW TRIMMER AT THE FLEA MARKET FOR 30 DOLLARS , BUT SEE THE PROBLEMS WITH THEM . IS IT REALLY WORTH IT The guy is always there and I bought my troybuilt trimmer from him over 5 years ago brand new returned to store for 50 dollars .Now won't start and told you about and so far all I can see is bad spark plug and cleaned the carburetor and still won't start and ordered new one from ebay 12.99 so I will see if this works .The guy at the flea market has craftsman returns for 25dollars and stihl for 100 dollars . He told me if I can' t fix it he will . So I guess i can't complain to much . My sister bought a mower from him that costs over 3 hundred dollars returned to store for 100 dollars and she loves it a year and still runs great . He buys returns from hardware and big box stores

@@smallengineguys yeh but remember i am a 68 year old woman and with 3 acres and the stih was a lot heavier , So not sure on that weight . It did have a shoulder strap also, never used one with that . but not sure . It is not easy doing this yard
