I am from Inverness and we used to go to Boleskine for a dare when we in school. Some very weird stuff happened to me and my friends there, and my grandad is a painter who was given the job of painting and doing odd jobs there. He has also some very weird tales about working there, he was in the house by himself a lot and found secret rooms. Heard people talking in empty rooms, and found a secret passage going from the basement to somewhere underneath the graveyard. His tools were going missing regularly in an empty house! He is a serious person I totally believe him. Very weird place.

I would never spend a night. My late husband was butler on an old estate. We lived in a house on the estate that was built in the 1700's. It was truly haunted. Terrifying actually. After we left, the next butler hung himself in the hallway one Christmas Eve. No, thank you. I did enjoy your broadcast and all your videos. You present them with class.

Oh my, I just looked up the location of Boleskine House and this gave me the creeps. Back in 2010 we were geocaching around Loch Ness. My husband pulled over at an old charming cemetery and told me to look for the cache myself, since the street was narrow and he had to park close to the cemetery wall and couldn't open his door. So I went looking on my own ... luckily I found the cache within a few minutes, but I ran back to the car as fast as I could, it felt so creepy there, like a black veil covering the day and I had difficulties breathing. I hadn't read the cache description, so I had no clue what happened in the area. And this graveyard is located just across the road from Boleskine House. I'm never visiting that graveyard again.

@christopherfritz3840 yes, this is quite normal, or at least it was normal in olden times. The English honoured the young men who died fighting, what they thought was for their country, but was in fact, elite power games. Nowadays, a certain political bacteria has infected young people to believe that they should dishonour these war memorials.

The Lord is dead now, time does the job everytime. So now we are free again, Mr Burns gone. Fake Queen Lizzie gone. Real Queen Mary here, beautiful, and really wanting to give anyone free cake. For real. She meant it. She was a kid, you rude people. Rockefeller after his tenth heart stolen from a jogger dead too. Justice served. Tastes delicious. Thanks to all the good forces. 🎉

Great video! I have always been fascinated about Crowley's "friendship" with Jack Parsons, who then opened Ordo Templi Orientis (O.T.O.) in Pasedena CA with Crowleys direction. Then none other than L Ron Hubbard comes into the picture and becomes friends with Jack. Together they perform magic and end up creating JPL (Jet Propulsion Labs) which is where Jack supposedly received the direction on how to create the rocket fuel.
@rbilleaud
@rbilleaud 11 ай бұрын
Somewhat more complicated than that. I'm afraid Parsons' rocket fuel had nothing to do with magic. He was rather intelligent, but also quite careless as demonstrated by the many accidents he was involved in, including the one that ultimately claimed his life. But yes, he was a very interesting character.

I've always been interested in Crowley and his beliefs, and you've told me things about him that I didn't know before now. I'd have him over for dinner, but I wouldn't invite him to stay overnight! All and all, I thought you gave us a well-balanced view of Crowley. Oh, when it comes to Loch Ness, I've heard that story that he's responsible for the Loch Ness Monster. According to the story, he unwittingly raised up a water spirit from another dimension and banished it to the loch. One could also use this argument the other way around. We often focus on the terrible events troughout history. The rise of the Nazis ,leading to WW2 and enormous suffering is truly Demonic. Maybe even literary ?. However we humans also managed to escape nuclear war, plagues that could have killed humankind but somehow died out overtime...etc .Even as an agnostic historian certain historical events make me wonder if demons/ angels do exist and occasionally interfere in small ways with enormous outcomes.

@@9teen9t4 'nowadays ?'' If you look at world history we live in one of the most peaceful times ever. My grandparents lived trough two world wars, the depression and Spanish flu. For centuries peoples lived short lives .Some nobleman or warlord could take it all away .For millennia you could be randomly be killed enslaved, born a serf .1 in 3 children died as toddlers . A bad summer would destroy harvests ,and have whole towns die of hunger . That was hell compared with today. So I would argue that if demons are to blame, they had far more power in the past.

This was fantastically researched and made. Thank you so much. I've been looking for a documentary about Boleskine House (specifically) and this one was far better than I could have hoped for. Better than anything on this platform to be honest and I'm just really surprised I haven't heard of, or been able to subscribe to, this channel before. Better late than never I suppose. Loch Ness really is a beautiful place and, fun fact, can hold all the water from the lakes of England and Wales combined, it's so big. If you're into hiking there are some great log cabins around the Loch you can stay in and use as a "base'" to drive to different mountains around it. The views are spectacular, though Loch Lomond is also stunningly beautiful, especially if you hike up even a relatively small hike up Conic Hill gives amazing views over the loch (though Ben Lomond really gives the best views, but is a lot higher). There are a lot of amazing beautiful places in Scotland that are worth a visit. Even Boleskine House, as it would give you a view of Loch Ness.

I have a couple of copies of the deck. I don't find it particularly "dark." It's Lady Harris's art anyway. If you've seen any of Crowley's paintings, you know the deck would be a hot mess if he'd done it himself, lol. Crowley was brilliant. He was also a jerk. But he was nothing to be scared of. If he was, Jimmy Page would have gone mad or come to a bad end years ago. Thanks for the objective look at him and at Boleskine House, Oddie. It's refreshing to have something balanced on the subject. You even pronounced "Crowley" correctly, lol. I hope you do more on him at some point.

@StellaWaldvogel I happen to think Lady Frieda's paintings for Crowley's Thoth Deck beautiful and breathtaking, which is why I didn't say they were the provenance of any sense of darkness the deck might emanate to those that are Sensitives, but perhaps where I purchased it. Aged 11. Oddie--please do a video on Lady Frieda and her association with Crowley--it was she who convinced him not to create a traditional tarot deck (i.e. Rider), but to use himself and his notoriety--which she much admired--as their starting point and as companion to his Book of Thoth.

I've been there twice, once way back in the day when it was still a house and once after it burnt down for the second time. It's a strange place, but the whole area is a strange place. Anyone that spends any time there will feel whatever it is creeping up on you, it gets stifling to the extent that some people are physically sick and have to leave. I also had a bad time on the second visit to the burnt out ruins. One of my mates from Inverness had a job to paint the outside of the house. It was owned by a couple that didn't live there at the time (I think they may have been Swedish?). He had no access to the inside of the house and it was unoccupied. He said there were the sounds of doors opening people running through the house, sounds like a radio playing as well as dogs growling and strange clicking noises. There were shadows flitting about in the corner of his eye, especially when at the back of the house. They also turned up in the morning to find paint knocked over and ladders moved during the night. That is easy to blame on vandalism rather than anything paranormal but he said he just hated being there. The house and land absolutely have some sort of attachment, haunted is not the right word for a place like that...

I've studied Crowley in-depth, specifically his protege Kenneth Grant, during that time period..I think it's interesting to put Barbara Bush and his picture, later in life, next to each other..he was around Barbara's mother when she became pregnant 🤷 Probably doesn't help that they look just like each other 😕

I'd read something about this, apparently factual proof that BBush mother was with him around the time that she would have fallen pregnant. However strange this seems.

You only have to look at Crowley's eyes to see what he is all about. Pure evil. No empathy or warmth in those eyes. Serial killers have that same blank stare.

Wonderful content, beautifully articulated. Your delivery is made more enjoyable to me, admittedly, due to your charming accent and phenomenally used vocabulary. Love and appreciation from Paris Missouri USA.

Crowley's "philosophy" of doing whatever you desired was almost a mantra during the 1960s. Between the world wars, my English grandparents once visited Loch Ness. They learned of Boleskine House, but they never visited that structure. My grandparents heard tell of "unsavory presences" at Boleskine House.

I’d love to hear more on Crowley, if you were so inclined. Crowley is a recurring subject of fascination to me, too. How can one not be intrigued? Thank you for such an interesting episode. My mind went exactly to the Loch Ness Monster as soon as I heard about the summoning of all those demons, and that’s so crazy that the first sightings actually do align with the timing of Crowley’s rituals! I wonder why he just gave up on the ritual and didn’t put the demons back? Maybe he got too out of his depth?
