More than 60 years on the superb quality of the Bonanza series is striking to this day. The scenery, the setting, the props, the acting, the interesting story lines, the characters, the moral undertone, the 'clean' fist fights, the humor, the fluent camera handling etc.: it is all top notch. No artificially enhanced movie of today can match the enduring value of this gem of American film making.

Loved this western. So many good westerns on tv at this time. Laramie, lancer, the big valley were some of my favorites. Of course bonanza was one of the greatest. TV was so great during this time. Great programs you could stand watching compared to what we see now. These times are gone and forgotten. Reruns are the only thing we can enjoy.

He orders Hoss and Joe to stay outside the jail because they are ostensibly too angry, and then HE goes in and attacks Asa when he refuses to allow him to see Adam. When one is made a Peace Officer based on skill alone without questioning the overall morality, character, integrity and mental health of said individual....you get situations or something similar such as shown in this episode. What is your standard of morality and integrity who determines what is right and what is wrong?
@reidhirsh33382 жыл бұрын
@@franktrautman1863 I haven't set the bar of standard of morality and integrity so high that one will get a nose bleed. To myself, when taking on the responsibility of being a Peace Officer especially Sheriff, you're to serve the public trust, protect the innocent and uphold the law. If that person's true nature is dark and morally corrupted, it only gets worse the moment and reveals itself once they're given the authority, badge and gun. Law enforcement back in the Old West was still in its infancy and standards of morality, integrity, character and honor were not taken as seriously as they are today. This is what happens when one fails to look beyond the surface of a man because there's always a chance that a certain person has a dark side they keep well hidden from the rest of society.

Another episode with a guy with a big head…In the episode “invention of a gunfighter” there was someone just like him…It’s easy to see where a little Joe got his gun fighting skills…His dad was very quick on the draw when he killed the sheriff…Even though the sheriff drew first!

I've always noticed on this show whenever anyone gets shot there's never any blood or gunshot wound... Like when Ben just shot the sheriff no hole no blood

There are some episodes showing red on clothing or through fingers clutching at a spot. Woman gets a chance to scream. 🤷♀️

Ngl that always used to piss me off when I was little watching this with my grandparents and seeing no gunshot wounds or blood spraying out from the impact of the bullets. This show should have had the characters swearing too. Imagine hearing Hoss saying "God dammit Little Joe" instead of "dad burn it" 😂😂😂
