Cooking ia absolute baller only when you cook at home. Work wise, depends on how frequented the Restaurant is you're working in. If you don't have to stress it, it's baller. If the Restaurant is full, it can turn into Hunger Games: Kitchen Version pretty fast. But that's also up to how well your crew works together.

This episode brought me to tears. It reminded me of my time WOOFing on the Big Island in Hawaii a few years ago and the many lessons I've learned. WOOFing is when you volunteer and work on a farm in exchange for food and shelter. The Hawaiian people's reverence for the Aina and the deep spiritual and ancestral connection they have with the earth is a powerful reminder of who we are and what we should do. Aina translates to "land, soil, dirt," but it also means, "that which feeds," and it is an intrinsic part of Hawaiian culture. I love love love this episode so much. In these trying times where politicians are denying climate change and everything seems hopeless, when all we can focus on is the negativity and the many ways in which we are depleting Mother Earth of her magnificence and abundance, this video brought me to tears because it's exactly what we need to see. People restoring the connection between us and the earth. It reminded me of what I need to do. They said it said well in the video, "it's not about what happened, but what you're going to do about it. It's about how you're going to create change." With my utmost gratitude, mahalo.

idk what happened, I am sitting here watching this, then they all sang and ate together, and now I am just crying. Nothing was sad here, but almost feel mournful for what we have lost as humans. Really good effort for the native/indigenous traditions being respected - go to Sioux tribe territory in the Dakotas and have some fry-bread tacos!
@TavisAllen
@TavisAllen 5 жыл бұрын
A nice gesture, and one I'm all for, but frybread, which has its origin with the Navajo, not the Sioux, is the end result of the Navajo being displaced from their homeland and supplying them with government-issued food stuffs. (If I burst your bubble, I do apologize.)

My mom works as a dietitian for a local tribe in Louisiana, it's a small one but still federally recognized. Whenever the health clinic at the tribe would put on health events for the community I would go with her and help her/volunteer. It's absolutely amazing and I am in awe of Native American culture. I love their language. They speak their language very fluently but unfortunately it's at risk of dying out. Their language is so beautiful. And yes there is an old lady who makes fry bread and it is delicious. It's horrible that it has such tragic origins but I still believe it should be respected as one of their dishes, even with its tragic origins.

@@littlemissbekah9722 Hey, My family is Louisiana creole. I've been trying to track some of the origins as all our elders have just about passed and don't wanna talk about the past so I'm tryna do what I can. What is the name of the tribe? What parish is it located by? As I know they have there own lands. Thanks!😊

I love this series so much. The places you go, the people you meet, and the cultural practices you learn really drive home the importance of sustainable food production. I thank you for not shying away from showing the effects, both positive and negative, that invasive species, industrialization, and the legacy of colonialism have had on what we eat, how we produce and eat it, and the significance food has in our lives. It's really, truly beautiful. xxx

The people of Hawaii have the right attitude toward the environment and their community. If we all had their attitude, we would be living sustainably, happily, and and healthily. We wouldn't have the looming threat of climate change, we wouldn't have pesticide-covered food, we wouldn't have factory farms, and we wouldn't be over-consuming our resources. I think everyone needs to see these videos and experience Hawaiian culture, and hopefully they will be inspired to make a change.
