Most of the time, they need to go 3 metres left and they aren't really in that much danger, so Bisho's approach is fine and we do see that he will go in if the patient is in serious danger.

I hope that swimmer in the red shorts that was rescued picked his bottle up that he threw onto the sand and is not a litter lout. The music played during the rescue scenes from the nutcracker ballet reminded me of an advert over here in the UK it was used in a chocolate advert with the words “everyone’s a fruit and nut case crazy for those Cadburys nuts and raisins...” I thought it a good piece of music as the people in need of rescue must have been nuts to ignore the signs and verbal messages.

I think it's great that he is educating the people that are close to drowning. By talking to them calmly and rationally about which way to swim, put your feet down, stay calm, definitely helps educate people. However, once their hand goes up, I'd like to see the lifeguard get out there as quickly as possible!

I lived on Lamb Island while growing up from 1972 to 1981, I swam with sharks, patted ones my mother had on lines, and yes seen a very large Hammer head longer than the dingy, we never wore black while in the water. They think you are food , I still have all my limbs, they are fascinating animals, people just need to learn about the environment that they enter, learn survival, skills, that will save there lives. And others with them.

I’m absolutely with Bisho! His hair always looks great plus… he really is trying to teach people how to take care of themselves, instead of simply waving for help. If a “swimmer” (most of these victims are “waders” in waist deep water) learns something about saving themselves this is of much more value. I love how he tells people to “stand up and walk” , then even tells them which direction and where to walk. Teaching someone to fish, rather than giving them a fish - “Eh mate?”

​@@5cats2kids8 Prevention as opposed to action is the first thing we lifeguards get taught. Any good lifeguard will try to maneuver someone out of a dangerous spot before going in themselves. The thing that sets a lifeguard apart from just a good swimmer is that they know exactly when they have to go in and when someone will make it themselves.

I agree,if Bisho doesn't like getting his hair wet why is he even a lifegaurd? He should choose a different career if he doesn't want to get wet.
