The plastic bottle is indeed a fish trap. The bottle is clear so you put some bait (usually bread) inside so the fish can see it. They then swim in the reversed neck of the bottle but cant swim out again unless they are very lucky and find the small opening where the cap goes. Fishermen use this usually to catch minnows (a type of small fish) and then in turn use the minnows as bait for bigger fish.

@@danellacullen4401, Enkhuizen is a city :D We actually have "city rights" for almost 665 years now! :) Enkhuizen is in the province "Noord Holland". And it is basically an hour above Amsterdam. He walks through my street around 7:20. (With, unfortunately, all the boxes outside. Apparently it was filmed on a Monday :) And that's when they pick up the paper recycling. So everyone puts it outside for the truck to be picked up) The tower at the end of the street has a carrilion that plays something every 15 minutes. Day and night 😬😁

During the winter time, it is pretty quiet out here. The tourists are not there and the museums are closed mostly during the winter. Where he was, is the area where there are mainly houses. And no stores or something. So the "Enkhuizers" were probably working or at work :) During the summer it is pretty busy. Especially when the restaurants are allowed to be open. A lot of boats from all over the place. A lot if Germans and people from England. Thankfully the German tourists were here during this summer. But we missed all the people of the other countries :( It is always lovely to hear all the different languages when you walk through the old city :)

Something I'd love to see you try ~ When you come to docks like in the video at about 14 in, you should try going to the end and dragging your magnet under the dock and your line between the wall and the dock since that's probably where people drop things into those cracks. I don't know, maybe you would run into something blocking the way that connects the dock, but I'd love to see it tried. :) Also, I love that when you go places you give a little of the history of them.

I guess Medemblik is next:) that is if you are still in the area. The harbor is also old and there is also a castle at the waterfront!

Cool video of my beautiful city! Around 7:21 you're walking past my house. It is a few 100 years old :) That big tower I hear every 15 minutes. Day and night! :D

15:42 So that bucket was down there all those years, just patiently waiting for YOU to come along and use it one last time to hold some stuff before it finally met its actual "end" of being melted back down in the metal-foundry along with your other "non-keepers" metal bits! :D

The Dutch remained in Brazil from 1630 to 1654, and their presence here was deeply marked by the administration of Prince Maurício de Nassau, a German military sent by the West India Company to rule the Dutch colony. Having as the capital of Dutch Brazil, my city (Recife - Pernambuco). Always a fun video!

That plastic bottle with the top cut off and stuffed back inside inverted is a makeshift trap for small freshwater lobsters, aka crayfish. That dead fish you found inside it was most likely the bait - crayfish, crabs and lobsters are bottom-feeding scavengers, they are the aquatic equivalent of vultures, more or less. The trap works because the crayfish can easily crawl inside through the neck of the bottle, but find it much more difficult to crawl back out. Professional lobster trapping pots work on the same principle and the design is essentially the same, only bigger and made out of wire mesh. They are usually weighted down with a few rocks so that they don't drift around, and baited with a piece of dead fish - any fish will do, but mackerel heads work best since they are oily fish and do a great job of creating an underwater smell, which the crustaceans can detect from miles away.
