@@AmberLeii feeding a parrot seeds, cannolis, steak, and pasta is abusive. You can love an animal or a child to death. I appreciate that he has stuck by his bird for so long but we can't pretend like he didn't put this bird's health at risk everyday. If the internet didn't exist, I could give him a pass but how can you not figure out how terrible this diet is in the age where we have the vast sum of human knowledge at our finger tips? And the bird never saw a vet? Because I can't imagine previous vets would not have commented on the diet if they knew. This is basically the equivalent of a parent feeding McDonald's to their kid three times a day every day. And it's absolutely neglect in both cases.

@@AmberLeii as a bird owner, I do appreciate the bird owner that stuck with the bird for a very long time (although birds are the third most popular pet right behind cats and dogs since obviously dogs and cats are the most popular common house pets, you have to also keep in mind that birds are also rehoused because how difficult they are to take care of) but unfortunately the way he is taking care of his bird is really bad because that kind of bird (being a gallah cockatoo) is mostly a plant eater/herbivore (meaning it doesn’t eat meat at all) so giving his pet bird steak and pasta is not healthy to feed a cockatoo (or any parrot since most if not all parrots only eat plants except some plants are toxic so if you are planning to get a parrot make sure you research what is not toxic to your bird for example avocados since avocados are high in acid and it upsets bird stomachs which is really toxic) and giving your cockatoo only seeds is also bad since cockatoos eats mixed diets (you mostly feed your parrot pellets with a side of veggies and fruits. Now you can give parrots seeds since they do eat seeds in the wild but pet parrots don’t fly as much compared to parrots in the wild and think like this: think seeds are like fast food for us humans, you wouldn’t eat fast food on a daily basis so if you are gonna give your birds seeds only give it to them as a treat and it shouldn’t be more than roughly 10 percent of your birds diet.) And not only that, the other thing that bothered me about that birds cage/habitat that it has no toys or anything to keep the bird entertained which is also upsetting since birds (especially cockatoos) are very intelligent birds and they need plenty of toys and should be cycled out on very regular basis since cockatoos can get bored and depressed easily if they don’t have plenty of toys to entertain themselves.

@@jessicuhh017 Dr. Lisa made the comment "no more dog parks" if she keeps barking at other dogs, so my guess is this happened at a dog park. A dog that aggressive (the one that attacked) shouldn't have been at a dog park like that, but many owners do not know or seem to care how to read their dog's body language and so will bring them to a place like that. Unfortunately, it is a risk at every dog park.

I work with a bird rescue and we've had a couple birds come one with fatty lumps/tumours because of being on a seed diet. Seeds don't do anything for a bird and they aren't nutritious enough. Birds need to be fed fruit and veggie, as well as a proper pelleted diet such as Zupreeme, roudybush or tops.

Kavya Liyanage Any tips on weaning a stubborn bird off seeds? My boy was fed them since he was little along with fresh veg and fruit, but he has gradually gotten more and more picky and now refuses to eat anything except bananas and seeds. Naturally, took him to the vet recently and he is quite healthy, but I’m still wanting him to have less seed in his diet.

Celloco birds are always difficult to transition to pellets. I would try different flavors and mix them in with his seeds. Slowly add more pellet to seed ratio. Once you get him eating mostly pellets I would allow him to have seeds for about an hour a day while having pellet available 24/7. Then once you are certain he is eating pellet completely remove seed from his diet. Really the only thing you can do is be persistent and try to find a flavor they like. Zupreme offers a veggie, fruit, and nut blend pellet. So try some different ones and see which one your birds hates the least. Good luck on transitioning your baby. I hope this helps

If you're interested in the part where Dr.Chris put the cells on the slide and stained it, there is a whole profession for it for both humans and for animals. It is called Histology. It requires a 2 year college degree and is a very fun occupation.

after seeing Sachi's reaction to the other dogs in the clinic, It seems like he caused the attack himself, by running over to another dog and yapping away at its face, causing the other dog to react. I'm honestly baffled that she would take him to a dog park UNLEASHED, when he acts like that towards other dogs... It's a very common problem with small dogs too, running over to bigger dogs going crazy, and some day they run over to the wrong dog and this happens

The way that Sachi reacted to other dogs could also be caused by psychological trauma. She understandably is very wary of other dogs. When a dog is attacked, it's very common for them to show aggression towards other dogs even if they weren't aggressive in the past.

I love Tim. He has such a passion for all the animals he helps care for and helping them keep their animal instincts as much as possible. Dr. Chris handled the snake and Pretty well. The diet seems harsh but it was needed as his diet prior was awful. I hope the couple teaches their dog and are aware of other dogs around them off leash.

It's lovely how Tim suddenly looked 10 years younger when he was so excited from Elvis having eaten that beef... =) Sometimes his excitement seems a bit over the top, but in episodes like today you can clearly see that it's 100% genuine joy because he just loves his job sooooo much! I'm always so amazed when he gets a baby anything in his hands, he looks at it, weighs it loosely in his hands, then says how many days old it is... Honestly the dog probably caused the fight.. this is what happens with small dogs.. then the larger dog gets blamed and called vicious even if the small dog started the fight.. sadly it usually ends with the large dog being put down (unless owner can prove that their dog didn't start it)

I've had my husky mix attacked three times by small terrier types just like this. One tore a full bite of fur off him, then came back for more, while he was running and cowering and just trying to get away. Another time a different dog rushed up, barking it's head off, then took a lunge at him when he fled. I only realized later it had connected with his leg and draw blood. Both times, I had to watch those owners pick up their little dog, cuddle it and "Oooooooh I'm so sorry..... he doesn't like big dogs.... poor little guy." People label a dog vicious, when it turns to defend itself, but the terror who eats a mouthful off my dog and keeps after him teeth bared just "Doesn't like big dogs." Not saying this dog was as bad as the ones I've had to deal with, but I sure don't buy their innocent victim act.

We agree, Kavya, that birds need more than what was given that bird. They do need fruits, which they eat in the wild, as well as lots of greens. That bird, 4 months later, has her keel showing, which is not good. Weaning her onto pellets would also be a good idea, or to start off as treats.(the pellets) It is so sad to see a bird that old with its original owner who has grown tired of his bird friend. One can tell by where the bird is now (outside) and without those chest and stomach feathers, you could see "goose-bumps on a cockatoo!" Many people don't stay married that long any more! Yet with any bird, we have that responsibility to them to take the best care that we can provide. And if it cannot be provided, too tired, too busy, what ever the reason, then perhaps the bird should go to someone that will bring her inside at night, feed her well, and get her toys to play with and to tear apart, to help keep her busy and Happier. There were no toys, not even pieces of wood to chew on. [perches don't count as chew toys] It really hurt my heart to see that lovely bird shivering in the wind/breeze. She has no bird friends, and her human counterpart has lost some interest, and does not interact as he used to with her. It's sad, yet that happens so often, unfortunately. Birds are flock animals.

It's the responsibility of the dog owner to keep THEIR dog from running up to another. My dog hated other dogs. It was difficult to take her for walks because people would allow their dogs to run loose and up to her. I could only do so much to keep their dog from getting hurt. The blame is 100% on the owners of Sachi for letting her approach and BARK at the larger dog.

I’m not trying to victim blame, because it’s certainly not Sachi’s fault, but owners of little dogs should know better than letting their dog run up to a big dog and bark at it. Clearly the owners of the big dog shouldn’t bring their dog around others if it’s aggressive, but if one dog runs up to another and barks at it and the other dog thinks it’s aggressive and attacks, then they’re doing what dogs do, and it’s up to the humans to intervene and make sure that both dogs stay safe. I hope for Sachi’s sake that her owners learn a little more caution because when they said Sachi’s ran up and barked “like she does,” it made it sound like a habit that happens a lot around other dogs, and she’s lucky that nothing worse happened.

+Hannah Agreed! Ib fact, Sacchi practically did it right there in the waiting room less than 24 hrs aftervthe harrowing incident! Noticed, too that when Mel (owner ) came to pick her up she didn't bring a collar, or leash, or carrier... nothing to safely escort her newly recovering, injured pup to the car. Had another dog been coming/going at the same time, Sacchi might have jumped right out of Mel's arms. Mel certainly needs to learn to reign in Sacchi before something worse happens to her. Obedience training is definitely in order for her own good.

People who let their dogs run off the leash are running a serious risk every time. My dogs have been attacked a number of times by off leash dogs. I always keep mine on a lead. Dog's behaviour with strange dogs is a total unknown so I never run the risk without a leash.

I agree. If you’re letting your dog go up to a much larger dog, you need to have a leash, collar, harness, or SOMETHING to allow you to keep a distance. Even the most well behaved dogs can become dangerous when they feel threatened.

totally agree...had such an encounter myself a couple of years back. Now where I live we do have leash laws and I for my part never let my dogs of leash because of their high prey drive. Now, Ben was not an aggressive dog and was even good around cats. But that day, a small dog ran up to him, barked and jumped around and between his legs. I don't know, if he was annoyed of if his prey-drive kicked in, he was an ex-racing Greyhound after all. He picked the small dog up and shook it once. The small dog did not suffer any harm other than run off to his owner. I checked up with the owner. He just shrugged and said" my dog needs to learn, that not every dog is friendly..." I mean come on. Ben could have seriously injured that small dog...

I have stuck with my parrot, an alexandrine, for my whole life as well, I got him when I was 10 we got him as a baby and I still have him. Also, I was very educated and open to information so my bird is very healthy, also, I am so happy seeing a bird owner getting help and accepting that he was wrong, diet is one of the most changed topic, before it used to be normal for a birds diet to be sunflower seeds, but that had changed soo much ,and sometimes you don’t get to the information in time.

A scared animal can't stop being scared because just by more training. I do, however, agree that a well trained pet may cope better when stressed. Especially 'no barking' can make a dog bark even louder because it takes 'no barking' as joining in on the loud barking. Not to mention the fact that her owners didn't even bother bringing a leash or collar in to pick her up from the vet! Both dog and owner need a friggin training course

FT W I have to slightly disagree with you. (Not to be rude but id like to share my opinion as well) even though Sachi did instigate it was also on the other dog it’s owner. They should know if their dog is aggressive toward other dogs or specifically small dogs (which a good bit of big dogs are) personally my family and I just got a deaf Aussie rescue we were actually told he was aggressive with small dogs and having a Yorkie we took necessary precautions to only find out that he was just very excited our yorkie was the aggressive one. We also have another Aussie who is a sweetheart but she does try to herd and will be slightly aggressive because of his energy once he calms down she’s fine. We are taking it slowly but we also knew our dogs when bringing him in. Also not all dogs benefit from training we took our girl to training and she was terrified she benefits more from being trained by us! And about the collar and leash it could also be possible that they didn’t bring it so they wouldn’t hurt Sachi! Again this is not to be mean or rude this is simply my opinion 😁 (also sorry for the long reply )

I'm a year late, but whatever. I think the responsibility falls on each owner. Sachis' owners shouldn't have had her off leash since her recall isn't reliable, and because she's reactive towards other dogs. The other dogs' owner shouldn't have their dog off leash either, as their recallvs not reliable and that dog is also reactive and possibly aggressive. For the safety of you, your dog/s and others don't have your dog off leash in a public area unless their recall is (close to) perfect.

@@kms1011 how do you know the other owners had their dog off leash? You don't. You're hearing one side of the story, likely a biased and heavily edited version. You're forgetting that with a big dog like a Shepard it can be hard for a grown man to stop them if they suddenly lunge, that's exactly why leashes are a thing. Unless you're already yanking back because you're a psychic you're not going to stop them. All it takes is literally one bite from a big dog to kill something small.

A year or more late here as well. Honestly, something doesn't sit right with me about Sachi's owners. Lack of eye contact, defensive or guarded body language, quirks of the lips/tight lipped, the man didn't say a word about what happened... I feel like there's more to this story that the owners aren't making known. Regardless, it's a shame that Sachi (and possibly another dog) got injured because of carelessness. I'm glad Dr. Lisa was able to take care of everything though.

Jessica Purina pro plan is ok but there are much better options. it lacks fresh products like real meats unlike other products like Instinct and Merrick who have much better fresher ingredients, purina pro plan is the best out of the Purina products however most Purina products really are not great and have Products that have even made top 10 worst dog food lists Plus they really are not very trustworthy

My dogs have been trained to ignore other dogs at the dog park and are pretty good socially but if they are provoked or feel threatened, they definitely will have a go at whoever started it. Her owner even turned up to the vets without a leash to take her home! Like seriously, both need dog training

That is a very BEAUTIFUL Python! I had a ball python years ago, not nearly as pretty. If my sons weren't afraid of snakes I'd still own one. I also had a 7 1/2 foot Red Tail Boa. I re-homed both of them. Both my snakes were rescues.

Have your dog on a leash at all times when out of your house. That's what I FEEL Sachi's owner is feeling guilty about- as well she should. If you have control of your animal, attacks are much less likely to happen. Expensive lesson. I'm glad the dog will physically heal.🐕

Poor bird... It's incredible that he survived this long. These birds should eat fresh vegetables, nuts and fruits as the staple of their diet, and seed should be used as a training treat. Not to mention the absolute lack of enrichment, and the fact that he's most likely not being taken out for flights indoors or outdoors.

It’s terrifying to see your dog get attacked by another. My golden retriever when she was alive she was 13 and we were walking back into the house with my mom and my neighbors dog ran from their yard and charged my old dog and started attacking her, my dog was just shrinking back and I had to pull this dog off my old girl while my mom was screaming and yelling. Worst part is the dog came back a second time! I had to stand between them.

Well it depends. Although it’s recommended to have a companion for your bird but given the cockatoo’s age in this episode (being at least 42 when this episode came out) it probably wouldn’t be a good idea since if the birds don’t get along and the other bird bites Pretty (who is the cockatoo in this episode) he can get seriously injured and if there is blood and looses too much he could pass away, I think it’s not a good idea however it’s totally fine to just have one bird since if you get only one bird then your bird would only bond with you however if you get more than one bird then your birds would bond with each other and not with you as much so it depends.

Sachi remains me so much of our little Ellie Mae. She was more white with the tan spots. She was a rescue that was my son's best friend her whole life. She was the sweetest loving little girl. She would dance for treats. If you had a snack or other food she would creep up and sneeze on your plate so you would give to her. I can't recall how many times she pulled that trick on her boy. We loved her everyday of her life.
