It startled him, and he came in and asked if we had bats. I said yes, so now he's planning on installing a bat box out in the pasture. Even though we're getting ready to sell the house, he thinks the bat box will be a good point of interest for a potential buyer. BTW, he's 26... so I do value his opinion.

(At the minimum) also very glad they found the funnel web spiders… personally would’ve locked the children in a safe space that is also on a bed or something as they are very deadly… and yes, males are way more venomous than the females… pretty sure that’s how it is with all spiders not sure though… all of these animals are beautiful yes, but also quote dangerous for most (if not all of them) and it’s so cute when the little kiddo was saying bye to the bats she was saying bye bye bats that’s so adorable

So random snake story. When I was little my family and some other families used to stay at this campground that was the perfect conditions for reptiles and there were lots of big goannas around. All of us kids were riding around on a really sunny day and talking around. I was going across a path and I heard my sister yell ‘Stop’ I looked across and there was a red bellied black snake that was over a meter slithering across. It was around half a meter from my bike before it slithered across the path underneath a caravan. My six year old self then became very wary but apparently I’m a reptile magnet and the same thing happened with a 2 meter long goanna and a tree snake I thought was a large cable tie. I just love living in Australia.
