If you are going to get a pig please note there is no such thing as a mini pig. They get huge as potbelly pigs (min. 100 pounds) and many are surrendered due to this.

We had a splodge named Jackie. She got out of a tiny hole cut in our fence, just big enough to get a hand through and turn a tap on. She went to our local deli and wouldn’t come home till she got a freddo frog….I know, dogs shouldn’t have chocolate, but ham, cheese, fish, beef and liver pate didn’t work, she ate them and waited for the freddo. We moved house and she opened a fence, gate and jumped another fence just to bark at the postie. She could open the front gate to get to him but it was more fun just to scare him…every day. Jack russell as well.

We used to give our late dog Gadget (German Spitz) timeout 😊 Every time he showed unwanted behaviour, he was told to go to the bathroom. And he did. But he barked on the way out there, telling me I was very bad to him 😹😹😹 Miss him so much ♥️

people generally put metal in their noses to stop them from digging up roots. it works by placing pressure/pain on the snout, which if you're invested in the wellness of the animal, giving them a ring is just cruel. the ones that didn't have them probably didn't dig much.

@@Zollacei mean they don’t really seem to be in any pain as long as they don’t push their nose down. Sort of like a regular piercing. One you get one you wouldn’t press on it cuz it’d hurt so you sort of keep you hands away from your earlobes. And these pigs seem to get the idea and soon keep their nose away from the ground.

@@naynay2217 it’s not the discomfort that i find cruel. yes, it’s not ideal, but it’s the fact that by stopping them from digging with their nose, you’re taking away their natural habits and enrichment. i don’t own pigs, so i don’t know a heap about their behaviour, but i own many animals from livestock to exotic pets, and giving them every bit of enrichment that they can get, makes a happy pet. if you don’t want a pet to dig with its nose, get a different animal. ultimately it’s up to the owner 🤷‍♂️

Mostly cute! But only way to keep a mini pig, a mini. Is to make sure they don't get the nutrition they need to grow. so "strateticly starving" almost. And that, added with the metal ring so she can't engage in natural behaviour like rooting around in the dirt for tasty plants to snack on just seems a bit cruel to me. Pigs, and boars are wonderfull and smart animals - but they are not "house"-pets. They absolutely can be house trained - but if you give them a good life they will take up the entire couch, and the yard will be a mess. Kinda like you can't get a cat or dog, and not expect to find fur on your clothes, or some scratches on the floor or furniture.

mini is in quotation marks here, it's more how to make sure they don't get obese (entirely possible while meeting nutrient requirements) and the nose ring is more to keep the pig from rooting around into the neighbor's yard or in public parks, avoiding a feud with the neighbors is always a good thing and the park maintenance people would like to not have to deal with reports of pocket holes taking out small children and animals. also they're simple enough to remove (many a pet pig has done it on their own) should they ever move to a place where a pig rooting around won't be an issue.

I had a grey poodle as a kid. She has to go to the groomer several times a year because of her fur. she had a warm coat and a rain coat (used when she was newly groomed or in heavy rainy days). I am not a fan of those fancy things people are doing to their animals

Dog hair dye does exist, it is perfectly safe! A lot of people use beetroot to dye the fur pink ❤ No need to worry x
