I also read that regular consuming of gelatin stops seizures in dogs, so it has so many amazing benefits! I love this recipe great idea, going to try it now :)

This might be an obvious question, do they need to be kept in the fridge at all times to keep their shape or would they melt at room temp. Thanks :)
@ProudDogMom Жыл бұрын
They act just like Jello. So, they won't lose their shape if you leave them on the counter for a bit. But, I would still store them in the fridge :)

How long are they good for? Shelf life?

Thanks for the recipe. I've been looking for a minimum calorie dog gelatin treat recipe. I want to dip them in probiotic powder so my dogs get a low-calorie treat in-between meals that will allow the probiotics to be exposed to a minimum of stomach acid. Your recipe is exactly what I was looking for. Dogs can't digest the enteric coating off of enterically coated probiotics, and when added to their meal, the probiotics just get killed by all the stomach acid. So, added probiotics with their meal is just getting killed in the high acid levels of the stomach, instead of colonizing their intestinal tract. I have tried to find a dog-safe recipe for a low calorie treat that I could feed my dogs that I could use to get the probiotics through their stomach intact, and these fit the bill.

In my area, I can't find powdered bone broth. The only one I could find was discontinued by Walmart. Can liquid be used and how much. So far that all I could find and I am not able to purchase online.

Hi! I'm using The Honest Kitchen Bone Broth Powder because I find it super convenient. But, if you have a fresh liquid bone broth that's made with all dog-friendly ingredients (no onions, etc), then you can totally use that! You'll use the same measurement: 1/2 cup.

@@ProudDogMom Thank you. This looks like a great treat. I lost my poodle in the spring and I just can't manage without a dog in my life. So next spring or summer, I hope to get another dog. I want as natural a diet for them as possible, including treats. I'm looking at breeds that will be a good fit my new retired lifestyle and I'll have 100% to devote to my new little one.

Hi. Can you please maybe do a treat for senior dogs with diabetes? Thank you.
@ProudDogMom2 жыл бұрын
Hi Diane! This treat should be totally fine for your pup. Also, if you scroll through my channel, I have a bunch of flourless treats and even single-ingredient treats (like chicken jerky, sardine crisps, and salmon crisps). The other gelatin treats should also work (like the ground turkey and pumpkin version). I have written versions of all recipes on my website too, if that's easier: www.prouddogmom.com

Is there an age limit. can i feed this to my 4 month old cane corso? also how much is to much and how little is too little. Like how often should they get them for joint health?
@ProudDogMom Жыл бұрын
No age limit! The Honest Kitchen has portion size-to-weight recommendations. I use 1 tablespoon in this entire recipe, which they consider 1 serving for a 26-50lb dog. While I would definitely not recommend feeding the entire batch in 1 sitting, offering a few throughout the day is totally fine!

LOL I started making gelatin treats a few years ago when searching for ingredients that are good for joints (my Chihuahua is getting up there in years haha). They immediately fell in love with them and they're so easy to make. So, I keep testing out new versions :)
