I'm almost 60, I can out do most of the women at the gym of all ages. My 24yr old daughter tries to keep up with me and she is much stronger than all of her friends. I believe I can do the things I do like rock climbing, roller blading, jogging, lifting heavy weights and so on is because I have worked out all of my life and it never occurred to me that I couldn't so I can. Of course I eat a healthy diet and take supplements. It's heart breaking when I hear people in their 30's say they're getting too old for this or that. I still ride on the shopping cart at the grocery store because it's fun and more importantly because I CAN!

Thank you for explaining what a Dexascan does. I had a friend who has taken injections, when she had the dexascan done. The doctor told her she can skip her injections due to that her bones were dense. 3 months later her hip broke straight across. She did not fall when she broke her hip. When she asked the doctor he said oh that happens. Oh yes she also died of cancer.

Very excellent. Glad my instincts told me not to listen to the doctors pressuring me to take a biophosphate drug. My DEXA showed the worst score a person can get, but I started on supplements, many of which you mentioned and feel stronger anyway. Improved my diet too. I had natural menopause at 33. Here I am the big 7-0 and haven't broken a bone yet. So we'll see. Thank you for sharing your quite extensive knowledge. PS: Had a recent dental implant done and the technician shared with me that patients on those drugs show necrosis of the bone, and also they seem to get infections from the procedure and are quite slow to heal.

Excellent. Boron to the parathyroid is the same as iodide/iodine to the thyroid. Countries that have high boron soil content have very low arthritis. The parathyroid controls calcium in the blood which takes it from the bones if insufficient

I am 54 , post menopause woman , I am 164 cm for 50 kg, my normal weight all my life. I broke my foot last year from a significant fall ( multiple fractures, no cast, internal bleeding was moderate , i was walking in 10 days I broke my wrist skateboarding, I broke two ribs also. I walk /hikes with ski poles (Norwegian walk), since lock down covid March I rode 900 km on my road bike ( I am an avid cyclist for 40 years) I MTB as well, not downhill though, I also own a concept 2 rowing , I run , lift weights I have never eaten fast food in my life, I follow a good diet filled with greens and protein , no alcohol, no smoking, no sugar, i do IF 20/24, I am not suffering from any illness or metabolic disease. My doctor wanted me in a cast for my wrist ( hairline fracture) and my foot , I declined and got a sleeve /brace for both the foot and wrist. I found that my bones healed fast, consolidation phases especially. My doctor prescribed fisomax, I also declined because of sides effects. I am very healthy and kicking, and bone remodeling is important to me . My doctor said I was crazy not to try the meds and that I will break a femur and die. He added that taking supplements was useless. My scan numbers are spine -3.1, hip -3.2, femur - 3.5. Useless scan . I have just a petite morphology with tiny bones, I suspect that I wasn’t born with strong 💪 bone capital. My 8 brothers and sisters have a stronger body frames.

My conventional endocrinologist & also a functional doctor are urging me to urgently hurry up and take a drug called FORTEO for 2 yrs, (many bad effects, calcium metabolism interfered with, muscle pain, etc etc). then I'd need to take PROLIO another drug after the 1st 2 yrs. One build bone for 2 yrs next drug resorbs bone mostly....sounds wrong to me, so I've done nothing and waiting to get good Functional med info, which may be from you, now, Dr Osborne. thanks so much for this course. A lot of very sound advice. I have no auto-immune diseases, 67yo and walk every other day since I was 25. I don't see any plausible way of obtaining calcium through eating green vegetables everyday not getting sick of that in short order and eating enough of those greens to obtain the 1200+mg that I should be consuming every damn day. Cows milk & cheese from it is the only way for me. I prefer no chemicals or added hormones, but with a fixed income and too far from a grocery store...this is really my only source. One thing you don't mention is how polluted with pesticides & heavy metals our American diet has become since sometime in the late 60s, early 70s. Ex: Consumer Reports did a feature on heavy metals, specifically lead & cadmium found in healthy dark chocolate--including organic dark chocolate. 28 brands were tested and found to have variable amounts of excessively unsafe by CA standards (no federal standards of heavy metals has been established.) And heavy metals affect bone health! That's another topic for another day. Anerican diet stinks!

Hello from NYC! I was diagnosed at the age of 47, with a -2.5 dexa scan and was told to do the reclast infusion ( I didn’t) as the years went on, my dexa scans became worse and worse! Two years ago, I was a -4.3, and now, this past February, I’ve fractured two vertebrae ( spontaneously) in my 40’s I was very active, now in my 50’s, because of severe bilateral hip bursitis, labrum tears and SI joint syndrome, I’ve become more sedentary. The endocrinologist wants me to take Forteo, and I’m so afraid too, any thoughts?
@christymartinez2078
@christymartinez2078 Жыл бұрын
Info stated that Forteo helps bone mass. I personally believe this is a False statement. Look up many many negative side effects. I'd it with it for you. Think very carefully before you decide to take it. Many drugs from pharmacy do more harm than help. Pharmacy= pharmakeia= witchcraft

The second you started talking about astronauts and space you lost me. I do agree about the Dexa scan being bogus and taking the doctor recommendations regarding pharmaceuticals will hurt you. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis from a dexa scan and told to take those pills. Well I took one pill and then never again. 3 years later I’m sitting in a dentist chair so happy with my decision and so was the dentist. I’m not sure I will ever trust a doctor or pharmaceuticals again. And I am 71.

I have osteoporosis. 24 hr urine test showed high calcium excretion from bones. I'd love to know what causes it, cos I've been taking good quality bone formulas including vit K2 and high D3, ionic magnesium+ other magnesium, boron, and all the co nutrients. Am shocked and very puzzled why I got osteoporosis and my doctor said I'm in great risk of bone fracture! very scarey. I'm 72 and eat mostly organic and non GMO and lots of plant foods, all colors, and trying to be on alkaline side with diet etc. am also prediabetic and have Hashimotos and high blood lipids for about 20 yrs. no statin drugs. natural anti cholestrol supps havent worked yet. Tried many different ones. I changed to New chapter BONE STRENGTH W/ ALGAE CALCIUM AND CO NUTRIENTS + EXTRA 100mcg k2, mk7. + lots of other supps multi's digestive enzymes, probiotics, etc etc. would love to get your answers to possible reasons. What have I done wrong and right, please.

I have been told, I have osteoarthritis, of the hips. My hips are not painful, it is my right leg, which has become very weak, due to pain upon walking on it. Not sure if the weakness started, due to physio suggesting a walking stick. Now I walk with 2 arm sticks. After being a very fit 60plus person, and very flexable, this is depressing. Tried physio, hydro, chiro, massage, all to no avail. Would love to know how to losen my hips, as I'm told they do not move, and bone on bone. I get bad pain down the side of my leg, when I walk, and stiffness after sitting or sleeping. How good are MRI's?

I am vegan, this was totally against advice. How can you get calcium without dairy, l was asked. 5years later l no longer have osteoporosis. I wonder ...bone cells need to be replaced, unhealthy ones destroyed, would preventing this allow cancerous cells to thrive?
