Thank you very much. Yes is always good to take photos to show progression. No time like the present, get snapping! Thanks again for watching. I will be repotting a large clump style soon which I’m very excited about. Not sure if it’s fused yet so we will see. Thanks again!

I need to do a better job of taking consistent semi-annual photos of my trees. Great job showing us the time progression!

Thanks Brian, I appreciate that. I agree, it’s interesting to see the development of a bonsai. Gives you a bit of history. I’m sure other older trees have some great stories…..Thanks you very much also for commenting, cheers

If it was me, I’d have kept the branch you chopped as it had both better taper and movement than the main trunk. Also, consider putting the tree into a much bigger pot for a year or two, to encourage better and faster growth (girth).

Hi thank you Ian, it’s in a fairly big pot but I will repot larger in the spring and see how much its shoots. Thank you for watching and commenting, I appreciate it, cheers

@@japanesemaplesbonsai7133 when I say a bigger pot, I mean 5 gallon size or a large pond basket works really well, better drainage allows more feeding. Good luck.

A really well done progression video. I like the tree but I definitely feel your pain for that ugly car at the top. i have quite a few maples that have the same problems from branch removals - it's so hard to rectify. thanks for this

Use that thick branch as the leader, don´t remove it, turn it the apex, for me is the way to go if i was you.

Hey, thank you for the comments. I didn’t even think of that, not a bad idea at all my friend. I will go down the shed later and have a look. I’m wondering if the branch can bend a little upwards as I wouldn’t want to try splitting again. Made that mistake already. Thanks Bruno, thanks for commenting and watching, hope you enjoyed!

There all in different pots . Can't be the same plant?

Hi, it’s a fair comment as the 2 trees in the thumbnail have different pots. I can assure you it is definitely the same tree. The tree was repotted into its current pot between 2016 and 2023. If you look at the branch structure, it’s definitely the same tree. Thanks for watching and more to come!
