Lyrics:
It's calm yet wild the style that I speak
Just filled with facts and you will never get weak in the heart
In fact you'll start to illuminate, knowledge to others in a song
Let me demonstrate the force of knowledge
Knowledge reigned supreme
The ignorant is ripped to smithereens
What do you mean when you say I'm rebellious
Cause I don't accept everything that you're telling us

He was doing this back in the 80's before it was cool. Everytime I hear it I learn something new. I know you have read the lyrics and heard the music true knowledge, true power know thy self. Johann F. Blumenbach, JA Blofener, and HS Chamberlain should be studied by all...start to illuminate others through a song.

Interesting. I find it odd that KRS would mistake Eli Whitney as Black. I mean, of all the inventions in the world you'd think he'd get the one about the cotton gin correct. That one simple mistake makes him look really bad. It would be like a Jew saying Mohammed invented Jesus. I hope you discovered this mistake in your paper and didn't replicate his mistake.

Reallest and best song ever made. Even though black people in this country are from the tribe of Judah from the Holy Bible, we are not egyptian, they had us as hostages in this Holy war, and Moses gave us the 613 Holy commandments which freed us frim captivity the 1st. time. Just like we will be freed and all our mistreatment by this current temporary world will be avenged! All praise The Most High in our Holy Messiahs name, for ever and ever. Amen, HalleLuYah. Follow the 613 commandments of the Old Testament from the Holy Bible KJV.

Thats was done by design by these record labels which also own private prisons. Rappers like him was educating us and telling us to stop the violence against each other. He even pointed out that white kids began to call themselves n1ggas. Now why do you think they drove guys like him out of rap and replaced them with N1ggas With Attitudes. KoolAid Congo if that's what you think the song is about or that's what krs-1 is about and you're not paying attention to the music. It's not a history lesson it's not even about race. KRS ones music is about enlightenment and about trying to get people to open their minds and educate themselves both black and white. Because this music was made at a time when violence and ignorance reigned supreme in New York City and all KRS wanted to do was make people realize that knowledge is power

Before Garrett Morgan developed the traffic light, he responded to a tunnel explosion, bringing breathing hoods that he had invented, and then led a rescue team, saving several men from certain death. Fire departments across the country placed orders for his breathing hoods, but many southern cities cancelled the orders when they found out that he was black.

I would argue that KRS-ONE is THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT RAPPER IN HISTORY. With an insane flow, a sic style and accent, and dropping enough knowledge and wisdom to resurrect the fallen Brothas & Sistas, KRS-ONE gave rap it's substance and validity.

the fucked thing is , is that he died after after say the blueprint album he would have been immortalized but as conscious hiphop was deliberately filtered out by the new financial owners of plantation hiphop his words and many albums since then are just a growing treasure chest awaiting to be discovered by hordes of people who feel lost and abandoned

KRS 1, the Master teacher. I played this song for my 10 grade class and told them to to write about what they thought about the lyrics. Across the board they hated it and wanted to write about blueface. Oh how have the mighty conscienceless died in hip hop.

But it could sell -- the problem is that the corrupt industry does not want to promote it. They don't know what the people will or won't like if they never give it a chance to be heard.

@@suave_d I'm from an era where it DID sell, quite well (early 80s). However, certain people from outside of the urban Black community put big money behind "gangsta rap". Interestingly, it was about the SAME time that crack cocaine came into our communities and, things like " prison reform" and aggressive privatization of prisons, were instituted. I was there. I saw some of these things; very tragic!😓💔 God help us!
