Cersei didn’t just blow up the Vatican in the middle of her own capital city, she did it with the universe’s Pope/Gandhi/MLK equivalent and a bunch of civil rights leaders inside… in a time when she is already badly discredited with very few political allies and the small folk are starving, afraid of foreign invaders, and prone to rioting. It is DEEPLY irritating when actors are valued for their looks and charisma over their talent. Yeah, Peter Dinklage is obviously the fucking man and sure, you don't want to put him through horrifying (to wear) prosthetics or pay for the CGI for multiple seasons, but fuck up the script on TOP of declawing the character to make him more likeable? They left him almost nothing to work with. Hollywood is a pain in the arse. I happened to go to school with multiple talented actors who have made it their career and the one who gets the most play time but STILL hasn't had a main role or even a truly decent one was the one who went into modelling first. She's one of the most talented actors I'm aware of (weirdly, so are the other two) but she's only cast based on her looks. What's even more horrifying is that these three actors are all white and beautiful by society's standards, so they should have a "leg up" (gross) in this fucked up industry but even they don't, with all their actual talent, because that's not what Hollywood values, particularly in women or people of colour or people of varying abilities and physical attributes. Basically, you can get bent if you don't look like Margot Robbie (talent irrelevant). I mean, have you caught the Delevigne sisters? She gains control and unwavering loyalty of all the Dothraki by murdering their Khals and then emerging unharmed from a pillar of flame. Maybe I'm missing some themes here, but aren't the Dothraki supposed to dislike magic? Or is getting out of the Molten Core completely undamaged and with your milkers out not considered magic? Also, I spot 10 esteemed individuals in the soon-to-be Khal Barbeque building, those are all Khals right? And Khals have bloodriders right? So where are they? Clearly not in that building, right? So how can the Queen of Space murder all the Big Horse Gang members and take over the entirety of the Dothraki afterwards? Where are the bloody bloodriders who are supposed to avenge their dead Khals and then commit sudoku? This is a flawed allegory used to prop up the super elite and make them and their status seem sympathetic and unchangeable, not a cute little rebellion point for you. That's how come you went online and typed EAT THE RICH in caps instead of going out and doing it, or the equivalent democratic social reform. They fucking got you." Media is a manipulative mess. Sorry if that was out of nowhere, it's stuck in my head and the subject of this comment gave me similar frustrated-growth-of-humanity vibes.

I think the thing they were trying to capture with that scene of Osha not killing Ramsey was the feeling we got at the end of Season 1 where Sansa considers pushing Joffrey to his death. And the entire audience leans forward and holds their breath like “Holy shit, is she gonna do it?” But the reason we didn’t have that same feeling of “Oh fuck, is she gonna do it?” Was because if Ramsay dies the plot just automatically resolved. He’s the only Bolton we still know about, the house collapses without him, and no character exists to replace him as villain. If Joffrey dies, Tywin, Cersei, etc all still exist as potential replacement villains. It could have happened, and the plot likely still would have played out in a somewhat similar way. And Ned Stark had also just died, showing us anyone can be killed… So it was totally plausible from a narrative standpoint that she might kill him, unlike with Osha where we knew there was no chance.

I was waiting for this episode’s pisstake because Daenerys burning the khals was « the long night » level of blood boiling for me. YOU BURNED THEIR SACRED PLACE AND THEIR LEADERS IN THE LOCATION WHERE THE BLOODSHED IS A TABOO WHY ON EARTH WOULD THEY WORSHIP YOU TO THE POINT OF CROSSING THE NARROW SEA? I agree with you, it really felt like a dumb girl boss moment just to make people cheer for Dany (to then make them feel guilty for cheering two seasons later)

Holy shit yes. The whole point of the Mirri Maz Duur fiasco in s1 is that Dothraki hate magic and it's one of the many reasons they turned on Dany. But yes, they totally forgot about that in s6 and suddenly decided to worship this obvious witch cause being fireproof is cooler than weird tent blood magic. It would make a million times more sense if Dany burned them using Drogon. Not only would she prove her worth to the Dothraki by claiming the most powerful mount (a dragon), but also by defeating their leaders in combat (a.k.a how khals take leadership of their rivals' khalasars) But I guess Dany needed another boring af girlboos moment.

I had extra thoughts- where was Bronze Yohn during the Long Night? I don't think he was in the crypt and he wasn't fighting....so? And the moment in ADWD for Jon when he's thinking about his family after reading the Pink Letter: "Jon flexed the fingers of his sword hand. The Night’s Watch takes no part. He closed his fist and opened it again. What you propose is nothing less than treason. He thought of Robb, with snowflakes melting in his hair. Kill the boy and let the man be born. He thought of Bran, clambering up a tower wall, agile as a monkey. Of Rickon’s breathless laughter. Of Sansa, brushing out Lady’s coat and singing to herself. You know nothing, Jon Snow. He thought of Arya, her hair as tangled as a bird’s nest. the show's self-righteous morally grandstanding "look how much better westeros is than slavers' bay" version of tyrion the show has was the perfect opportunity to do this. when dany returns to meereen and tyrion speaks of how he, the morally superior westerner, sought to dismantle the cruel and tyrannical system of oppression enshrined in ghiscari culture, daenerys tells him that he and his ilk are hardly any different. oh well.

If it were something similar to petrol, it would then slosh out across the floor, with the flames then reigniting the fumes and following it wherever it goes. So assuming there's some mediaeval petrol in there, it's not so ridiculous that when Crazy Dragon Lady pushes it over, the fire then spreads in the direction she pushes it :)

Glidus is wrong about Tyrion offering the slavers nothing. He explicitly offered full compensation to every slave owner in exchange for freeing their slaves within seven years, whereas the alternative would be just immediate uncompensated emancipation once Dany comes back and retakes control of her armies and dragons. This is actually a remarkably good deal (and notably similar to what Abraham Lincoln originally proposed to get rid of slavery in real life), and it would been great if the series had them accept his offer, instead of having them rejected just because they have an uncontrolable urge to be evil. Kind of a shame Glidus messed up on that. Usually the points in his pisstake videos are all valid.
@DougieFresh14143 жыл бұрын
Um.. they kind of did accept his offer and then still did that shit lmfao. Plus uh.. no it would not be cool if that actually happened because those are fucking slavers lmfao. They only thing they deserve is a slow death, and I'm pretty sure 1000% of fans would be pissed that slavers got to continue ya know SLAVERY. lol, A central theme in the books is even with Dany appeasing them as much as she came with the fighting pits, Marriage to Hizdahr, and allowing them to integrate into the council these ungrateful, greedy, bloodthirsty bastards cannot and will not stop slavery and will only can be stopped with fire and blood. Just like real life.
@TheStapleGunKid3 жыл бұрын
@@DougieFresh1414 How did we get rid of slavery in real life? By killing every slave master? No. The idea that all slave masters are so permanently evil that the only way to abolish slavery is to kill them all is ridiculous. In real life, we got rid of slavery in a wide variety of ways, some of them violent (IE Haiti and the American civil war), but the many were peaceful. One method was exactly what Tyrion proposed: Compensated emancipation. That's how Abraham Lincoln abolished slavery in Washington DC in 1862. I just think it would have been much better for the series if the slavers had accepted Tyrion's offer (and stuck with it). It would be a great way to show that merely being a slave owner is not a permanently evil condition with no cure. And it would show not every problem needs to be solved with mass slaughter, which is one of GOT's biggest flaws: The fact that pretty much nothing in the entire series ever has a peaceful resolution.
@vincegalila72113 жыл бұрын
@@TheStapleGunKid yeah but the Confederacy probably would never have accepted emancipation without their defeat by the Union. People tend not to surrender if they believe they can still win. Also from my understanding is that the Reconstruction was mishandled due to Lincoln's successor being sympathetic with the Planter class.
@TheStapleGunKid3 жыл бұрын
@@vincegalila7211 Yes, war was necessary to defeat the CSA and end slavery in their states, but that didn't involve killing every slave master. Also, remember not every slave state joined the Confederacy. Missouri, Kentucky, Delaware, and Maryland were all slave states, but they stayed in the Union. Missouri and Maryland both voluntarily abolished slavery before the end of the war. West Virginia broke away from Virginia and joined the Union in 1863. Lincoln did not force WV to immediately abolish slavery, but he required them to have a plan in place for eventual emancipation as a condition of statehood, which was carried out to completion on February 3, 1865. And like I said, slavery was abolished in Washington DC by an act of compensated emancipation in 1862. That's my point, emancipation has many different methods, and not all of them involved violent conquest. That's why I would have liked to see that reflected in the series. At least some of the slave masters should have accepted Tyrion's offer and stuck to the deal. That would have been a far more realistic outcome then simply "kill the bastards".
