The Lightbringer series and the Malazan book of the Fallen series turned into tv shows animated in the style of Final Fantasy cut scenes. Mark Twain wrote a Joan of Arc semi fictional biography. It’s fun with the first two thirds involving her childhood friends written with Twain’s sense of humor. The last third is written close to the transcripts from her trial and is tragic and dark. But it could make an epic movie.

I have always wanted a tv show adaption of Hyperion. I think 5 years ago Syfy was working on one but it never happened. I just think it has really tense horror sci fi vibes and each chapter is its own short story which would be great for splitting it up into episodes!
@pavelowjohn91674 жыл бұрын
The Shrike would make a great movie villain, but I have little faith in Hollywood's ability to adapt the story, it's a really complex first book (had to read that one a few times to "get" it). Same problem with the second book. The last two books of the series (with Raul Endymion) strike me as being much easier to adapt, with a central "everyman" character that could help the audience understand a very intricate far-future universe.
@LiteratureScienceAlliance4 жыл бұрын
@@pavelowjohn9167 Oh I agree it would be hard to do but I do think the right team could really do something awesome with it! @tacitpermission4 жыл бұрын
Yes! Totally! I think it pulls together a lot of the elements that the people who weren't fantasy readers enjoyed about Game of Thrones. It's got an interesting heroine (who doesn't go insane) political intrigue, kinky sex (that actually serves the plot), epic battles, and a love story that has weight to it. I think the only potential sinker for it is the people who are coded as Jewish in the books, I can't remember what they're called, if they handled that wrong it could potentially upset a lot of people.

I really like hearing you talk through why you think each book would make a good adaptation! Idk it's just fun to me xD As for me, I'd love to see the Old Kingdom adapted, as a series, movies, video game or even animated (like Castlevania style), I think it would work for all of them. "Iron & Blood" by Gail Martin & Larry Martin I think would make a fun steampunk-y action movie. Kinda niche, but since you mentioned middle grade, a series I liked when I was younger was "Chasing Vermeer" and it's sequels.
