Just got a pair of your Kashakas. They sound great. For this bottom catch I’m having a hard time not accidentally swinging it in circles instead of a straight pendulum. Gotta keep practicing

Hey there Daniele I am so stoked you are learning this fun and challenging instrument. Congratulations 🎉 Sometimes we find humans who are trying a thing for the first time can be better at it with their non-dominant hand 🤚🏾 They may have a tendency to lead with their non-dominant hand. Either way both hands can be trained equally it’s just a matter of time and focus. Whatever you practice with one hand do with the other and don’t forget have fun. 😆 Kristian Power 💥 🙏

can you tell me how long the string is between your kashakas? i’ve struggling with catching and want to blame it on the string length - it’s 4 inches

Hey there Blue Bass 2 thanks for reaching out. When it comes to the rope length we have discovered that it is all really dependent on the size of the players hands. Also when you are first learning to play it is advantageous to have your rope a little longer then normal. This helps aid in the catching. Any tips on a small hand? When I try doing the top grab, I have to stretch my index finger far because the ball lands beside the other ball.

Good day WahtNub Thanks for reaching out to us here at Artisan Instruments!! You are right about the top grab it is a difficult one to master. My tip for you would be to try your best to relax your hand. This allows your fingers to be a little bit bent and try to put some space between your fingers. With this extra space between your fingers your hand becomes bigger and allows more room to catch the Kashaka. Also by having your hand nice and relaxed will allow the balls to move freely and move to make room for the other ball shaker to fit in your hand. I think my ropes are to long :( do you know a way to shorten them? The ropes dont go trough the shakers. If i hold the ball in my ring and pinky finger, the middel of the curve of the rope is about 1 cm away from my fingers.

@@artisaninstruments i think i was a little to quick to judge 😅 after practicing a few days i got better movement. It was more a bad posture thing than the rope length. Now catching the ball is way easyer! :)
