The Tisas 1911 Carry is the one 1911 pistols I will regularly use as a concealed carry pistol. This budget 1911 is very reliable and fun to shoot at the range. It is important to break-in your 1911 pistols and making sure they are running flawlessly before putting them into your concealed carry rotation.

Took me about 300 rounds to fully break in my 1911’s. I also learned with 1911’s that if you don’t have a quality magazine, you’re bound to have problems. Both my 1911’s now run flawlessly with my Wilson Combat 47D mags.

I can save you money on the "break in". I currently own 6 1911s and counting. 3 Colts, 2 Kimbers, 1 Charles Daly (Armscorp made, so same as RIA, Citadel, etc.) and they all run perfectly with every load I put through them...and 99% of those loads are cast lead bullet handloads for practice. 1. Whatever magazine they come with, leave it in the box. I use ONLY Wilson 47D mags. I have 2 Wilson mags for each "type". So, 2 full size mags and 2 Officer's size mags. They are interchangeable with al, the 1911s and you can only shoot one at a time. Get as many as you like, but they will work in multiple 1911s. 2. Polish the feed ramp mirror bright with a Dremel tool and a FELT polishing bob with "Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish" DO NOT Use abrasive wheels, only the felt bob and the fine compound. Don't have a Dremel? Get one. 3. Remove the extractor and do one of two things...replace it with a Wilson Combat "bulletproof" extractor OR carefully polish the hook with the aforementioned polishing compound and a piece of fabric (a cleaning patch wrapped around a small piece of wood or plastic works well). As for me...I change the extractor. Much easier, and extractors aren't expensive. When you are done, put some empty FIRED cases in your magazine and test them by racking the slide. They should feed perfectly. ALL my 1911s will feed empty cases through the magazine flawlessly. All of this will cost you less than 300 rounds of .45 ACP ammo (even if you have to buy a Dremel) and take less time than driving to the range and back. Another consideration for IMPORTED "Series 70" pistols like the Tisas. These pistols pass the mandatory drop safe test by installing an extra heavy firing pin spring AND an extra heavy hammer spring (mainspring) to overcome the firing pin spring. This beats the drop test with just the cost of 2 springs. That's good for a pistol trying meet a particular price point, but it leaves you with a trigger pull worse than a Series 80 pistol has. Simple fix...swap the hammer spring (mainspring) for a standard weight spring (I used a 15# spring in my Charles Daly to replace the factory 23# spring) replace the firing pin spring with a standard spring, replace the recoil spring with a standard spring (I use a 17# spring, but get one that matches the loads you will be using) AND replace the firing pin with a Wilson Combat "bullet proof" Titanium firing pin (be sure to measure the tip and get the right diameter) All for about $50 and a few minutes work to change springs. You will have a slide that is easier to rack and have reduced your trigger pull AND make it easier to remove and replace the firing pin for cleaning. PS I do not work for Wilson Combat, I have just been very pleased with their products, so I stick with them.

Good video. I don't own a Tisas but most of the reviews I have seen give it high marks for quality and reliability. I agree completely that modern 1911's need a break-in period. I have Kimber, Springfield Armory and one vintage Colt Government Series 70, all in .45 acp. I daily carry a Springfield Mil-Spec in .45 and have over 1000 rounds through it to date. Always enjoy your videos Sir. Thanks.

Not saying 1911's don't need a break in period, but myself I have never done one per say.......I have four Tisas 1911 models, two Girsan's and one ATI, all Government 70 series.......I do not have this one. I have shot various JHP's right out the box (after breakdown and lubed) and not had an issue. Two are carry .45's but I do not use as a carry. I do not keep JHPs loaded for any of them. 1911's are made for ball ammo (unless I'm just old school) and that's what I keep in them and the spare mags. Enjoyed your video fellow Patriot!

My Girsan MC 1911 needed about 100 rounds and a Wilson Combat mag before it was reliable. The 1st couple boxes would jam twice a mag, than once a mag, then on the last round, then all good.

They don't look too friggin shabby on fit finish either, for sure. Im getting one soon, probably just the service or maybe Service special. Depending on availability I'd buy the US Army variant but i won't sacrifice that 3/4" of barrel for carry edition models as I want all the velocity possible from 45acp, or 45 Super would run fine with a proper recoil spring and full length guide. Gotta arm up now day's, especially before this current globalist / communistic administration should try to albeit temporarily infringe us of that ability through their false flags ang gun grab agenda. Happy carry and defense out there fellas, it's getting crazier and crazier.

I think cheaper production 1911s in theory should be more reliable than expensive hand fit ones because of looser tolerances . Same reason Glocks and most polymer guns are so reiable because theyre loose af so plenty of space for carbon and oil sludge to build up without gumming up the action

Have a Girsan that I bought at our local Bi-Mart and only complaint(s) I have are the proprietary sight dovetails that ruin my choice of replacing the rear sight with something adjustable and its heavy trigger. I had to buy a shorter front sight to bring the impact point up and the price was ridiculously high from Dawson. It is reliable and accurate though. I go to pick up my Tisas tomorrow though so I will have another one that's a little more flexible as far as sight options. I love shooting my 1911. It brings back memories of my younger days serving in the USN. I carried one on the weapons security watch and never had to use it in anger. I did pull it out during a drill one time but only shot one a couple of times at the range. Now, I get to cast my own bullets, load my own ammo and go to our nice outdoor range whenever I can get away. Only wish I had the get up and go that I had in my 20's! Adding 53 years to 20 slowed me down a bit.

About a little over a year ago, I purchased a Tisas 45BR full size from a private sale…I have several hundreds rounds,.. not to break in…but because I love shooting the thing…with no issues at all….I dont know if it’s just this particular pistol….but, this 1911 is one of the tightest 1911 I have owned….including the Ruger SR1911….When I was in the navy….we were qualifying with Remington Rands 1911, that rattle like crazy….However, this Tisas 1911 is awesome…barely a rattle….I have since converted it to 40 Super with a 6” ported barrel from BarSto….the results have been great…been able to launch a 220 grain bullet at 1283 fps average with this gun…I am ok with this, it’s my primary trail/woods and soon to be used for hunting deer, as well as, for bear defense here in Montana. Thank you for this video.,..only confirms my own experiences with this $550 firearm….that at least for me, has been worth price and experience.

I have been very lucky along with my two buddies. We have four Tisas 1911's; 3@45acp, one 9. I am shocked regarding the accuracy of these pistols. We had no break in required, no issues at all. We only have about 200 rounds per pistol to date. HOWEVER, my NIB Kimber Target 2 in 38 super took about 50 rounds before function became flawless. We start at 5 yards 3-5 rounds better be a ragged hole and poa poi. Then we move back 5 yards at a time doing same. At 15 yards I can achieve easily less than 2 inch 5 round groups with all four. VERY happy.

I have the same model but blue. I put the first 75 rounds through if the other day. I had at least 12 occasions that the slide would nof go fully into battery. Upon inspection it appears the cartridge rim is not going smoothly up behind the extractor. I put a small radius on the extractor and polished it up. We will sed how if does next time out. Also noted that each ejdcted case was getting a fairly good dent midway down case. Appears to be hitting the sharp corner just above thd scallop at the back of the ejection port. I'm a first time 1911 owner. I just bought the Tisas 1911 9mm Stingray Carry. I have a problem with the slide release. After the mag empties and the slide locks back, I drop the mag and insert another, but the slide release will not function and allow the slide to return forward and chamber a round. I have only 100 rounds through the pistol. Is this a break-in issue, or is it a defect?

I just did the FFL transfer on the new Tisas ( correct pronunciation Ti-SASH with emphasis on second syllable ) 1911A1 US Army .45 WG . I bought it from Sportsman's Outdoors Superstore online for $349.99 FREE shipping. It came with two 7 round magazines, arched mainspring housing, Cerakote finish to resemble Parkerized finish and the WG stands for Wooden Grips ( Turkish Walnut ). It also comes with an additional set of plastic grips which would be more period correct for 1911A1. Everything packed nicely in a plastic case with cleaning brush, Cleaning rod, and bushing removal tool. The Wooden Grips are nice but I replaced them with a new/old stock set of Pachmayr Signature rubber grips, not wraparound. The 7 round Mags are made by Mecgear and made in Italy. They will need a little break in time as loading the seventh round is a little hard with those strong magazine springs. My only real issue is the really tight spring on the Mag release . I realise it may ride up with wear as they use to say in the Men's Ready to Wear department at Grace Brother's Department Store But I went another way. I purchased on Ebay a Wolf's #3 strength Mag release spring for $6.00 shipped.

Any kid that had a BB gun knew it had a break in period after 500 rounds.

A lot of kids obviously didn't have one judging by many of the comments here.

@@BoomStickTactical @BoomStick Tactical Lol! I agreed. You can't fix stupid man, don't even try. My TISAS has break in time in the manual of around 200 rounds I think. The originals weren't lubed from the factory very well and you had some of the stainless rub off where the slide meets the frame and would cause the gun to lock up. It basically would make micro ball bearings. Most of them are stainless steel with cold hammer forged barrels. My Duty model is a tack driver and is also Ceracoated. It's as accurate as my CZ at 7 yards. 20 yards, pretty good at center mass. With some practice I bet I can get it the same. It's an excellent firearm for the price and it feeds hollow points well (SIG V-Crown work well), unlike a Colt Series 70 that it was based off. No drop safety, since that didn't come along until series 80, however the trigger is better on a series 70. Pick your poison.
