I own a Tisas and I gutted out the entire gun and rebuilt it using all Wilson Combat internal parts including the barrel and the full length guide rod. Now it shoots like a dream for under 1K total. It shot well when I first got it but now the groups are way more tighter. I might want to add that I invested close to 500.00 dollars with the WC parts. Didn't want to spend close to 5K in a Wilson Combat 1911. Thanks for your wonderful and informative video.

I have about 10 1911s. I always change my guide rod to a full leith, if not already equipped with one. Just my preference. Also i will replace my plastic mainspring housing with steel. Kimber....colt..to me that is an insult to sell a 1911 with any plastic on it. Especially from manufacturers such as colt and kimber. Big credit goes to Tisas and rockisland for example for not doing that .

I own two of the models featured in this video, one each from Kimber and Tisas. The Kimber Two-Tone is gorgeous with the brushed flats on the blued slide and the brushed finish on the frame, finished of with some nicely styled wood grips. A pleasure to shoot and nice to look at as well. The Tisas Service Model that I own has more a green finish with appropriately styled grips. The plastic grips are actually authentic to the WWII originals. A fine functioning piece that pays respectful homage to the original 1911A1.

I've enjoyed every Kimber I've owned, and they have all been problem-free - but I don't own any right now. For whatever reason when it comes time to trade a pistol as part of another purchase, the Kimbers are always the ones getting traded off. My current 1911-pattern pistols are a Colt Commander and a Staccato P (2011, but the internals are still 1911); when I go to purchase a Government model, I'll be going with one of the Tisas based on the fantastic reviews they have ben getting.

Great video. I love my Kimber 1911's in .45 acp. My daily carry and the gun I have taken training classes with is a Kimber TLE II in .45. I have been thinking about getting a Tisas 1911A1 base model as I really want to have something that mimics the WWII M1A's. Looking at the CMP for actual WWII 1911's I have worried that while historically important, many have been through the arsenal many times with a mix match of parts. Thinking that the Tisas might be a good option for a WWII clone to enjoy shooting one. Thanks again for your video content.

Beretta field stripping was EVEN more easy than 1911. Didn't have worry about lining up barrel link to the frame to get the slide stop in or the spring plug flying into the dark ground at night. Also by 90 when I was in those still in arms rooms were on their last legs condition wise. We didn't get M9s until 1991 in our unit. The youngest 1911 in inventory in our arms room was older than my father at the time.

Owned seven 1911s: Sig, Ruger, Springfield, Rock Island Armory X 2, Taurus, Citadel. Springfield in 9mm, all others 45 Auto. Had been looking at adding 10mm to my 1911 stable and did that yesterday. Bought the Tisas 1911 D10 in 10mm. Got it for ~ $725 at my local GS. Comes with 2 stock 8 round mags but supplementing those with a couple of 9 round Chip McCormick mags. And this thing is TIGHT! No movement whatsoever between frame and slide. I spent about 30 minutes oiling the frame-slide and was racking like it was on glass; no hesitation or stuttering. Looking forward to getting it to the range and won’t be surprised if I have any issues.

They're not high quality and slave labor is how they keep those prices cheap There are more than 1.3 million people living in modern slavery in Turkey, which ranks fifth among 151 countries in which modern slavery is the most prevalent, according to the results of the 2023 Global Slavery Index. The study, which concerns data in 2021, was produced by the Australian-based human rights organization Walk Free and released on Wednesday. In the index modern slavery is described as covering “a set of specific legal concepts including forced labor, debt bondage, forced marriage, slavery and slavery-like practices, and human trafficking.”

Just because you and I don’t have the ability to drop 3k to 8k on a single 1911 doesn’t mean Kimber is “high end”. They aren’t. They aren’t even that good. I’d rather they focused on qc over aesthetics, accuracy, and so on. They’ve got great marketing though. That’s why the rubes buy them. My first 1911 was a Kimber Warrior that had some breaking in problems. After spending some considerable time with it, I started learning more about 1911 production. For the price of a Kimber, I would spend my money on Dan Wesson instead. Of course there are other brands that surpass DW quality but there is this thing about "diminishing returns".

Kimber is mid-level or maybe entry-level (custom) I would say. Then it goes up from there, Some Springfield models (TRP) are a step above then Dan Wesson, Ed Brown, etc.. The high level would be Nighthawks and Wilson Combats. Had to send my Ultra Carry II back to Kimber for feeding issues, after the 500-round break-in, They repaired it and sent it back within 1 week. Works great since. My Dan Wesson which was $1000 more than my Kimber I also had to send back to CZ-USA for warranty work (out of the box) for a thumb safety issue. They got it back to me in 2 and a half months and after sending me someone else's gun. It works great but the turn around time sucked bad. Support-wise, I would buy another Kimber over a Dan Wesson any day. Love them both though :)

'Disapointed' My Kimber is in my top three or so of the most accurate handguns I own. in .... my.... opinion 1911's today are way more sorted out than even 25 years ago. I have never shot a Tisas.. I have shot half a dozen other brands tho.. They all are flawless with good triggers and good to excellent accuracy My load is a cast bullet SWC coated with HT and running around 950 fps... Not all that long ago it was a round that would only feed in 'some' 1911's Seems they all feed it these days. which is great as it is a hard hitting and accurate 45 acp load.

Good talk! I purchased a Kimber Stainless II five years ago, and immediately took a dislike to it because of unreliability. Fortunately, with experience, I quit using the very good-looking Kimber mags and went to Wilson. Because I have several (like you, I suspect) 1911s, I have widely experimented with mags and found a few that work for me no matter which pistol is in use. Yep, I dislike that Kimber so much, I bought another one. LOL! And my ultra-inexpensive Tisas Duty SS45 is complaint-free. Except for a RIA double-stack 10 , all of the ones I didn't like are gone.

Not being off-topic, but Kimber still as of this writing continues to have quality issues, not so much with the traditional 1911, but more so with the micro 9, which mimics the 1911 but in a smaller 9mm foot print. I have both the models you show, with the black on grey and the micro 9. Now to get back on track, I will add that I have so far had zero problems with the (Custom II). It is absolutely my best pistol so far. It shoots incredibly straight! I also own the Tisa and it is great but as you mention, I did get bitten by it when I first shot it at the range, and so did my Son. It is very unforgiving in how you grip it...

@@BoomStickTactical Yes. Kimber has a 45 acp model named (Custom II). I have had excellent performance with it. I just wish I had not purchased the Kimber Micro 9. With the price of ammo, it is ridicules for Kimber to expect a consumer to spend hundreds of dollars on ammo, range time, travel, etc., before they feel comfortable carrying the pistol. I wish I had done my research. I got caught up on how attractive the Micro 9 setup is, but after several hundred rounds, it is still having failure to feed issues, even after I sent it in and had it repaired. Terrible mistake on my part.

I own a Kimber Stainless II and two Tisas 1911s. The Kimber is good, but frankly the Tisas guns are better value for the money. As to the made in America statement for Kimber that may be the case now, however early produced Kimber 1911s had parts like frames and sights made by the Israeli owned BUL company which is fine, I'm not political about where quality come from, but it's not the case that all Kimbers are 100% American made.

My experience with Kimber hasn't been good at all, I've tried them twice. First, a 10mm GFO followed all the instructions and did everything possible and still had issues. Then I got a Rapide Black Ice .45, and it was a little better. However, it too, no matter what, ran pretty unreliably, I used Wilson, Kimber Pro Tac, and CMC mags. I followed break-in instructions to a T, ended getting rid of them both.

The comparison is somewhat apples and oranges. The 1911 GI represents the original Jphn Bowning design. It was designed to be taken apart by the GI in any weather or under fire and returned to service. The Tisas is a Turkish gun and is made cheaply. Not cheaply made. The Kimber is no match for an Atlas or a Nighthawk, again, very different guns. I love my Tisas, I love my Kimber.
@BoomStickTactical

The purpose of the video is to give people a better understanding of the differences they will see between the two if they cannot afford to buy both. The slide to frame fit on the Tisas is as tight as the kimber but doesn't have the same fitment on many of the accessories like the barrel bushing or safety. The Tisas is a great 1911 if you can't afford something more expensive.
