Thanks for the video, I lived in Tellico Plains 1955-1957 when the area was all wilderness. I hope to visit next year to attend the Hall family reunion. The Tellico welcome center/museum was built by my Uncle Ree's brother Charles Hall.

Very cool! Those building are very neat construction. You certainly should be proud of any connection you have to them. I didn't have too much time to spend in them this year and with the COVID they were "crowded", but when I was there last year I did a quick tour of the musem and visitor center, if you haven't seen that video yet.

We camped at Cataloochee CG in the GSMNP a few weeks ago and befriended a motorcyclist camping there (I being a retired motorcyclist). He told us about camping at the North River CG in Tellico Plains. So now we see your fine review of this CG so we will definitely be camping there along with some of the other CG’s in the Cherokee NF. BTW, I strongly recommend Cataloochee CG. There are lots of elk there and many remaining buildings from the community before the National Park Service took the land over to develop the GSMNP. Thanks for the great CG reviews and for taking us with you. It is always a pleasure.

What I enjoy about your videos is the whole experience, not just one thing. How you camp with Akila. I would enjoy not just the walks but seeing you set up, how you cook, what both of you are eating. Where does akila sleep in the camper. Is he ready to go to sleep when you do or does he want to stay up. I have a shepherd & enjoy watching this beautiful dog. I think they all love sticks. ❤️

Great video. I was up in that area two weeks ago and camped at Spivey Cove in campsite number 15 which is at the very back of that cul-de-sac. It has a nice little spring in the side of the mountain and little stream running right through the edge of number 15. I have downsize to a car and tent camping now so I would have to be a little more careful on some of those way back bad roads. But I sure enjoy your videos and these are some of my favorite places that I go many times a year. I even tent camp in the winter on some of the areas that are still open. I have a good all season Kodiak tent that is fine for me and a friend and my little dog. Be safe out there I sure enjoyed this and thanks again.

I noticed you questioned why those campsites along the road were $10 as they are simply wide open sites along the road. I am assuming it’s for the avid anglers. During the spring and summer they stock the telico River and the place is packed with fisherman. Being on the main road assures you a spot to park and the option to be first on the river. I agree with you that there is much better options in the area. In your next video you missed a forest road that has great campsites along Citco creek. Then again maybe it was closed as last time we drove it there were a lot of downed trees.

Can you elaborate on the Guya GPS. How do you find camping on that app?
@GoingNoWhereFast
@GoingNoWhereFast 3 жыл бұрын
GaiaGPS is a map display app that has many many maps available to view. Simple ones are free and helpful, but not good tools for finding things. For a fee you can see the "National Geographic Trails Illustrated" series of maps. These maps are incredibly detailed in camping sites, bathrooms, trails, etc. HOWEVER, I find buying the map and looking it over is much easier to do. GAIA also has EVERY road, Dirt, Gravel, Mud, Cow Path, along with highways. So 4 wheelers like to use it for that, but I find most of the time the roads are closed. Avenza is similar to GAIA but is Free and you can download National Forest Service "Motor Vehicle Use Maps" (MVUM) that show the roads you can legally drive on and that are open. Both programs will find you on the map using your GPS in your phone or Tablet. So they are useful and fun to use to track your travels. Personally I prefer paper maps. Bigger picture and better overall when the batteries die.

Tennessee looks green and well forested. A great run down on affordable camp sites in the area. Not that I am likely to visit. It's great that there are so many campsites in this area., We get locked out of many State and Federal Parks because of the environmental activists in Government departments. Depends on which state you are in as to how restrictive the laws. We have 5 States and 2 territories in a space a little smaller than the area of the USA.and about an eighth of your population. So I go bush boondocking Wild country..Out the back or on our 14,000 miles of unspoiled beaches. I don"t see anyone there for days.Just my Border Collie. Lucy,and plenty of Kangaroos. You need to get behind cover of one may jump through the window oft he a Liner.They are crazy animal's, fast and strong.If you hit one in a car it will be a write off. @@chrislincoln489 Well, I'm a little embarrassed to tell you, I bought a can or Kilz Primer Spray paint, taped off the area well and spray painted it with roughly 3 careful coats. I intended on doing regular paint over that, but it looks so good and matches the original, I just took off the tape and masking and left it like it is. It looks great, which you can see in some of my videos. In fact I'm thinking of doing that for touchups on the inside roof...LOL No replacement sheathing or anything. Of course the actual luan under the skin of plastic was not hurt, and the skin was less than 1/16 thick, so a "thick" layer of paint and it looks great.

Thank you, I'm looking for info to repair my 06 with water damage. I have used a dehumidifier to dry it out. Now I need to repair it somehow. I'm thanking vinyl panels glued to ceiling. Any thoughts.

@@chrislincoln489 Anything that would glue vinyl would dissolve the foam; I would suggest thin luan plywood, or thick paperboard that would add a little strength and stability. If the roof is really damaged, you really need to put up the bucks ($1800 last check) for a new panel and make it easy on yourself. A lot of the strength of the roof is in the aluminum extrusions glued around the edge. If you loose this glued connection you really loose a great deal of strength aand stability.

Did any of these campgrounds have good cellphone service?

NONE! Though I can only say for Verizen. And I didn't check all of them, but as far as getting data signal on my phone for mapping, it was dead !

There is zero cell service in the are. The closest area to get signal is a few little spots along the ridges of some of the forest service roads and Telico Plains (about 20-30 minutes from most of these campsites)

It's on the road just before the bridge heading east to the Stateline Campground. It's on your right (South?)

Sorry about that. That's the problem of trying to do too much in one video and so just driving around. Not my best work! Thanks for the comment !

is the senior pass worth it to get?

If you travel enough. It allows you free access into national parks, and a discount on camping. I've used it to get into several parks and historic monuments free. And it saves me a bundle on all the Forest Service and COE camping I do. If your on the fence you can get a "Yearly pass" for $20 that give you all the benefits for one year. If you do that 4 years in a row you've paid for the Lifetime pass ($80) The sad thing is the lifetime pass used to be $30, but it went up before I could turn 62!!
