I feel like I've been justified about my thoughts of O7K vs LS in this video. Here's the thing. You can get the same amount of power from an LS with a cam and a tune as was just made in the 07K. And here's the bonus thing.. If you get an aluminum block, you are probably about the same weight as the O7K, maybe even lighter because no turbo, piping etc. Now here is the next stunning factor. dollar per dollar 07K vs LS... the LS wins hands down. O7K's work, but at the end of the day, you are putting in a lot more money for parts for the same amount of power and weight. Plus you are dealing with boutique parts suppliers vs going to every auto parts store on the planet and buying what you need which makes road tripping a lot more fun with less stress.
@davidottobre188Ай бұрын
Unfortunately, when it comes time to track a car on a road course, the LS isn’t nearly as good in practice as it is on paper. To make them live, most people end up having to go dry sump, or wish they would have after several motors. This car had an LS, and it became such a hassle trying to make it live, they changed course and developed this kit. LS swaps are also pointless in these cars, why not just buy a corvette? It’ll be cheaper, easier, and faster.

Hey there, thanks for stopping by! On this swap we are running the factory transmission but it is a rear mounted transaxle. For your application you would most likely want to run an Audi 01E transmission, although we are developing the components to run a Ford T5 behind the 07K as well.
@pacoflyer4 жыл бұрын
@@BoostBrothersGarage Would the T56 be too big? I like 6 gears. Does the 01E have issues since its got the drive shaft inputs on the side?
@BoostBrothersGarage4 жыл бұрын
@@pacoflyer the 01E requires way too much work for a standard front engine rear drive application. It works for the 944 because the 944 is a rear mounted transaxle. A T56 will not easily adapt to an 07K as uses a front mount starter that interferes with the block

@BoostBrothersGarage4 жыл бұрын
Running 3.5” from the turbo all the way back with a MagnaFlow muffler. Considered dropping the exhaust at the downpipe but doesn’t seem like 3.5” would be a problem
@geneqco4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, no doubt turbine hot side would make a significant difference but would be interesting to see the difference made on the dyno by dropping the exhaust at the downpipe as you suggested. LR had significant gains on a fairly stock 951 S at 16 psi boost using a 4" exhaust even though it seemed to be mostly 3.5" with the final section at 4". I think the pressure wave builds along the length of the exhaust which is why there can be gains in a tapered or even stepped exhaust. Anyway, I've really been enjoying following this so thanks for all your posts and videos and the tremendous effort in making all this happen - keep up the good work!

I was thinking maybe some intercooler choke-spot.
@BoostBrothersGarage4 жыл бұрын
The 07K is lighter and sits further back in the engine bay. It definitely improves the weight distribution! The cold side is possible but not very likely due to using 2.5” intercooler piping and a 3” core intercooler. 10% between dyno’s, I think that’s about right. The Mustang dyno is better for tuning because it can properly load the car down. The DynoJet is an inertia dyno. Cams weren’t an issue at lower boost, it made power to 7500. But, it could very well have become a restriction as airflow increased.

I am late to the game on this as I just saw it, but it is possible it isn't a turbo issue. The heads/ cams may be out of efficiency range and may not be able to flow enough/ properly to make power beyond a certain RPM. I've seen drop offs like that where larger turbo swaps still do the same. A lot of the modern 4 cylinder turbo cars do that. Like the Fiesta ST/ Focus ST. No matter what turbo and fueling, peak power remains essentially the same RPM with drop offs. Great set up though! That's a hell of a build!! I bet it's a blast to drive!
