I chose the sprints based on this review solely for the mechanical adjustments, and I’m really glad I did. I mostly drive street cars with h-pattern shifters, looking for max immersion, and I was able to dial-in the feeling to really really good. I literally adjusted every single setting on nearly every pedal, over the course of 2-weeks, and got it to feel exactly how I want. I also used 2 different curves in the smart control software, and tweaked that to hell. Couldn’t be happier

The Heusinkfeld app/driver is also an excellent part of their great tune-ability. I've had my Sprint pedalset for >4years, and completely love them. I do wish I could spare the cash forthe FFB pedals, but I can be happy with the Sprint until I can do the FFB upgrade. Well done objective review, Boosted!

Hello and congratulations as always for your very clear videos. I also had the chance to review the Invicta model, I also liked them a lot as a build, but I find they are great on a very narrow type of feel, as you said too. My idea is that what can be reproduced in the Asetek pedalboards can be reproduced with any pedalboard using hard elastomers, the difference is that on the other models you can do even more ....

I also like the pedals further apart and the quietness and smooth operation of the Heusinkvelds, however there is one point you forgot to mention in Heusinkveld’s favor. Their legendary customer service. I have emailed them before and had a part in hand, shipped from the Netherlands to the USA faster than I can even get an email reply from Fanatec. (That is not hyperbole either) I don’t know what Asetek is going to be like but they have to really be on the ball to beat Heusinkveld in this area.

When you get to this level of pedal sets then having both the brake and the throttle immovably stuck to a permanent baseplate is a big big no - so the Asetek pedals are out as a far as I'm concerned. Also when considering the aesthetics the Sprints are absolutely beautiful in their utilitarian design - a pure engineering form follows function approach, whereas the Asetek look like they had a fashion product designer running around the place annoying the hell out of the engineers who were just trying to engineer a decent pedal set. I don't really like the Asetek pedals, but you could tell that already, couldn't you?

Bingo, one main reason I went Simtrecs
@EricW68002 жыл бұрын
I have the invicta set, the distance is actually realistic and the sideways adjustability of the pedal plates is sufficient for me. about the aesthetics...I'm a engineer with 35 years experience. And when you would run the most advanced AI on a follow function approach pedal design, I'm pretty sure it will look more like the Asetek design than the Heusinkveld one to be honest. So not really sure what you mean, unless it's just personal preference.

Purchasing ASETEK direct with or without a discount, is misleading because they charge a small fortune for shipping/handling vs if you purchase through one of your local distributors so buyer beware. I learned this the hard way purchasing other high end items direct, paying huge shipping costs plus import duties, which not all distributors pass along, so something to think about as this can change the price by a huge amount.

Bought the full Asetek Forte set plus the clutch based on your reviews, building me a high-end training rig to compensate for the lack of time I have for real racing nowadays. The wheelbase is freaking incredible and the ffb feeling + 18Nm torque is just enough to match the reality of all vehicles including formula that I had a chance to drive in reality. The MLCPC brake tho... is frustrating me so much that I'm even thinking about returning the set back sometimes. I had tried a lot of different sim hardware in the past but at home had a T500RS for almost 10years with some oil damper upgrades I did myself. I just cannot get the feeling for this brake and cannot even find use for 80% of the elastomers included in the additional set they make. Not feeling the real G-force while slowing down makes it harder to brake with such hard pedal and is just plain weird because in the real car when you consider braking without the additional G-force you would probably do maximum 40% of the pressure measured on the brake by your muscle. The travel for use with road cars is missing a bit but I'am thinking about engineering some mod to overcome this. Since the difference between formula and sports car is based on my experience just the initial force and travel the "second stage" where you trail brake and modulate most of the force or where you control the car most is similar. This pedal seems ok while looking at the inside but the feel is just weird and I brake and drive on the sim like a moron now that frustrates me like hell tbh. Always locking up not beeing able to find the point where the abs would kick in, just nothing works. And as I said I come from the real thing to this and that sucks hard to be this bad when you know you are not :)) In the real I have driven brakes from 10mm travel high pressure non assisted/boosted to the classic 50-60mm slow build-up sportscar brake and with everything it was a few laps minutes to adjust the feel and go. This is the first brake in 16years I have trouble with and that is something to consider other factors than just me beeing a problem :D.

Hey Will, check out Dan Suzuki's review of these pedals only a few hours ago. Interesting discovery that may have been missed by a fair few reviewers regarding implementation of the load cell. To be fair, this wouldn't be news to you looking at your original review a few months ago but it was presented in a way that shone some light on pedal force measurement vs pedal position. It definitely shifts my preference to Heusinkveld pedals hands down and widens the gap between these Forte pedals and the Invicta pedals in my opinion. Probably worth the upgrade. Awesome content as always. Love your work. Thanks guys.
@boostedmedia2 жыл бұрын
Watched it and no, it’s not news to us at all. We explained the same thing in our first look video. The small spring is what pushes on the load cell which is why when you max out the bump stop you get no further deflection of the load cell. I’d you watch from the 17min mark in our first look video I cover it in detail and said “it’s fundamentally measuring deflection rather than pressure”.
@black7rc7202 жыл бұрын
@@boostedmedia yeah, saw that section. Hence the "wouldn't be news to you". I think Dan's angle of presentation just highlights its shortcomings in a way that I (and it appears other commenters also) hadn't considered but it was definitely explored by you in detail, in your review. I will never look a load cell implementation the same again when considering "pedal force" measurement. Thanks for your contribution to the community 👍.

Good video, build quality always good in sim racing. The price reflects that. Used sprints for years and fanatec elites on console. Miles apart as was the price. What I love about sim racing, can cost you as much or as little as you wish. Only thing that separates a cheap set from an expensive one is your enjoyment. I'm easy, got cheap wheels and some that cost me £1k each. I wouldn't spend £1k ever again. Wheel loverly but now sim racing is so popular now with brands. I'd be more inclined to get a moza f1 wheel with dual clutch, led lights, a little plastic but only £279 new. Fanatec have been replaced as only cheapish sim racing company. Have you ever used the Simworx Pro GT V3.1 LC Pedal Set? I'm interested to see how they compare to the Heuskinveld Ultimate+ Pedals.
@Hardcaslte2 жыл бұрын
So what I think is interesting about the Asetek Invicta and Forte pedals is that you're SUPPOSED to push it all the way until it stops, and then use pressure to modulate the brakes. But, they put in these inserts that are so large that it's really difficult to get the pedal to where it actually stops on the ring. They really should have put in half sized rubber inserts, that part was supposed to only simulate pressing the pedal and taking up the distance before the brake pads hit the brake discs, aka, there shouldn't actually be any braking happening in that distance. Then once the pedal is locked on the ring, you only use pressure to modulate braking. In my case, I have the Invicta pedals on a Wheel Stand DD (couldn't find a way to make a full rig work), so I use them like you are here where I never lock out the brake pedal against the stopper ring. I can only do about 25kg using the wheel tray on my seat, so it works well and the pedal is still really stiff and barely moves. I also put a 15% dead zone in my brake pedal to simulate that initual take up before the braking actually starts. I've actually removed the rubber insert completely and used it that way too (along with the 15% deadzone in calibration to remove that distance before it hits the metal stopper), it seems to me that would be the most natural way to do it since there shouldn't be much pressure before the pad hits the brake disc in real life, but it felt a little odd. I think having a half sized low pressure rubber insert would be the way to go for what they're trying to achieve. All of this to say, the Asetek pedals are actually more realistic than the HV pedals due to the fact that no other load cell pedal set actually has a pressure sensor to simulate a real manual brake pedal (and in my opinion a better by on quality and feel), but the realism is taking a back seat because of their own design flaw.
@boostedmedia2 жыл бұрын
I think that’s a bit of a misconception. That’s the case with the Invicta pedals as you continue to compress the fluid even when the pedal hits the hard stop and thus the increase in pressure continues to be measured. With the Forte pedals, once you hit the limit of travel, the load cell does not measure any further pressure. We discussed this at length in our first look at the Forte prototype, the only difference being you now have the added travel provided by the rubber ring as opposed to the hard Teflon ring on the prototypes. So even though they feel quite similar st the pressure levels Tom and I drive with, they work fundamentally differently.
@Hardcaslte2 жыл бұрын
@@boostedmedia I must've forgotten from your review on the Forte pedals, from memory I thought you had mentioned a pressure sensor in the Forte pedals too. After using the Invicta pedals, I definitely really like that really stiff feeling though that you all show with the Forte set.

How about a vid on what you would buy given different price points? Excluding the computer, what would you get for $2000, $3000, $5000, $10,000? Would you sacrifice a higher NM base for adding a buttkicker? Do you choose a better pedal set over triple monitors? Is Oculus a must have over a better frame? The Asetek pedals have a failed design for 2 reasons: 1. As @Rob Gibson mentioned here: Printed raised lettering instead of being smooth, which makes it unusable for me as a socks-racer. Why is this not mentioned in the review? (or did I miss it?) These pedals are unusable for all socks drivers. 2. As @Peter Harrison mentioned here: " I prefer the designs/look of the Porte pedals but they are just too close together. ". Why on earth are the positions of the pedal's not adjustable? I drive with 2 foots, left for breaking an right for throttle, I prefer them pretty far apart from each other and I don't use a clutch. So for those reasons the Asetek pedal's are not an option for, I see them as a failed product design. Heusinkveld pedals (which I don't have btw) are designed with more thought and many (even most) other brands don't have these design flaws.

I know Asetek has reduced the clutch cost, but they *REALLY* need to consider offering a more competitively priced clutch bundle. As someone who almost exclusively drives manual cars (and for whom a clutch is mandatory) this feels like a deliberate price gouge.
@boostedmedia2 жыл бұрын
I think it comes down the the chosen design. Most clutch pedals don’t need to include a base plate, but because the base plate is part of the pedal with these, it makes it fundamentally more expensive to produce. Of course I don’t know what’s their margins are though, or if the margin on the clutch is disproportionate to the throttle/brake.

@@boostedmedia, good point. But, if they went to the trouble to separate the clutch, why not offer a greater degree of pedal adjustability and separate all three pedals? CSL Elite V2 is the best option in that case. But it’s not a massive change from what you have now. There aren’t many options for PS5 unfortunately.

@@boostedmedia ok ya i notice but i seen this for this pedals SRP® GT-R | GT SIMULATOR RACING PEDALS In-house designed electronic board with informative LEDs to keep you aware of the status of your pedals. # USB-C connectivity for maximum data rate (compatible with USB 2.0 and 3.0). # 65536 step resolution for precise control of brake, throttle and clutch. # PC compatible. # Compatible with PlayStation, Xbox, etc. (with Drivehub*) (*It is recommended to use only original PlayStation USB-C cabling for good connection stability). -

Could you/anyone tell me the diameter of the brake rod? or the inner diameter of the rubber? :)

Could this outcome apply to their top of the range pedal sets?

We discussed Invicta VS Ultimate+ pretty extensively in our review of the invicta pedals. Pretty similar conclusions. I prefer the Invicta pedals personally but the Ultimates are more versatile.

I can't help thinking The Sprints look very "cheap" with their sheet metal design. I guess they look a lot better IRL.

You can get Aserek as seperat now

Those are both nice, but if you want them to look more and act more like a common road car/ truck then the Fanatec V3 Inverted is the only one with the longer clutch pedal. Ricmotech and other outlets sell some great inverted Real Gear hydraulic pedals that might be the best out there, but they are pricey. No one pedal set is perfect, they all have ups and downs.

I prefer pedals without an sponge elastomer. Got the VRS pedals recently and the breaking feels really good. Best I've tried yet. Can really modulate precisely and looks good on my monkey seat rig. Sadly asetek has such a huge base plate and not way to set the pedals further apart.

Both waste of money, people spending thousand of dollars on this sim shit, go buy a car cheap one and go on racetrack and in a driving club.

Trying to understand the thought process here. Why are you watching videos about sim racing hardware if you hate it? 😂
