DODGE TAILGATE LOOSE RATTLE FIX

We fix the dodge tailgate loose rattle fix on this dodge dakota r/t but this can work for any dodge or ram pickup truck. The tailgate latches often get worn out and can lead to an annoying rattle on your truck or your tailgate might not even stay shut causing your tailgate to pop open. We replace the tailgate latches and locks along with the tailgate bushing where the hinges are to bring new life to the tail gate on this old pickup truck project.

It’s always something! I just replaced the intermediate shaft today on the truck cause that was worn and rattling too! That video should be out in a couple days 🤘

Great content John. This is helping me tremendously. My 99 R/T rattles like crazy from the front breaks and stoping power is terrible. Is there an upgrade you know of? Can I use a newer caliper from a Durango? Any help would be awesome. Thanks

BoostedMotorsports nice! I’ll try to adjust the post pins on my Dakota and silverado ! I also bought doorman’s for my 2000 Silverado. They are not the best made but they did work for me. The Silverado oem latches were done. They were wobbly, suck and bent! They did need some lube as well.

@@ChasingPerformance do a full system bleed am make sure the proportioning valve isn't stuck, I had to put in a new one as mine just wouldn't free up. Easy fix though

Three years old the vid is, 2001 3500 Cummins turbo diesel ram dually. That play rattling at the beginning of the vid - exactly what I went searching for. When I saw you went for new latches I said to myself, "FUCK". How stupid, you can't adjust the gate door like a crew cab door or cab door?! And then at the end 🤣 I'm 50, worked on many trucks, I didn't know the friggin post could be moved, it looks fixed when looking at it 😁 Success, no more rattle here. Thanks Boosted!!🥳

Wow great amazing cool small fix video. Your rt needs rhino lined. I have a 2002 quad cab 4wd 3.9v6 Mines starting to do this. But its because bumper is shot, I have two three bungie's holding rear bumper to the truck. To inner bed liner &bed latch. This is on my list of fixes for my lakota lmao When i bought my truck the side door decal D worn off by previous owner 😅

They call those white clips rod lock clips. You are also missing the rubber bushing in the bed where the tailgate rest against. 👍 great video! 😁

It's easier to go in the wheel well, and in the front of the tire, that there's a rubber plug, just pull it out and use a 10 mm socket add undo the nut just stick the socket in the hole and find the nut and undo the nut.

A machinist could make some bushings or maybe there is a bushing assortment kit available to rebuild the old latches?
