Fun fact Gilly. Rockman X for the NES was actually developed by an unlicensed company called Sachen. AKA Thin Chin, Common, the list goes on. They were the most prolific game company at the time creating over 67 original games for the NES. Many if not all are complete garbage. They were sold throughout Canada, the US, Italy and imported famicom carts. Sadly Rockman is considered one of, if not the best title they made. Definitely rare and hard to find CIB but just eBay "Sachen NES" and you can find some of their games available. Completed the collection this year and is now starting to get the shine on its oddity. If you want to collect them eBay and Nintendoage are your best sources since they're incredibly rare and expensive.

The Krion Conquest or as it was called in Japan Magicial Doropie, was one of those games where they made the game harder in the US then in Japan because the game only has unlimited continues in the Japanese version, you had 0 in the US version, I think there might of been a continue cheat but I could be wrong. It also removed some of the special cheats the Japanese version had. Also btw yes this game is unfair, you will need a lot of practice to beat the stages but there is only 4 but I only beat the first 2 because I was busy with stuff at the time but when I got to stage 3 no joke, it's a water stage WITH AN AIR METER!!!!! Also cutscenes btw were removed in the US version except the intro, idk why.

That NES Rockman X is clearly a romhack of some other already existing game. It has all the hallmarks: Different stage select style, main character that only kinda-sorta looks like Mega Man if you squint real hard, different moveset. Hell, that charge up dash attack looks more like Astroboy.

Zook Hero Z is pretty awesome, actually, and the bugs you encountered were most likely a result of the emulator you were using. I played through the entire game on VBA and it worked just fine! Also, the bootleg after was actually the sequel, and the collision is from a bad dump. On Handheld Underground, there's 2 fresh dumps that work great. Still won't fix Zook Hero 2, though, but Zook Hero Z is still one of my favorite games of all time.

Zook Hero isn't actually bad, I found the original rip with the other title screen, It's on the Bootleg games wikia and as long as I've played that version, It didn't crash at all, probably the Rockman DX6 you're playing is indeed a bad glitchy rip, the other one tho, Zook Hero DX3 (named as Rockman DX3 in the version you're playing) is indeed lost, and the Rockman DX3 rip is quite buggy, there's also Zook Hero 3 (mostly known as Rockman & Crystal) for the Game Boy Advance, yup, It's a trilogy, and the GBA one takes lots of assets from Mega Man 8, Megaman X and Megaman and Bass.

There was never a zook dx3. It was called zook 2. There is a dump but it still has some glitches that don't appear on real hardware. Rockman and Crystal is also known as Zook Man ZX4, the only thing called zook 3 was a version of the metal slug thing

Wow I had played that last one when I was a kid. Got it from a rental store. The package looked as legit as it could get for someone who had never played a Mega Man game. Big colourful "Mega Man X4" stamped across the package and cart. It also had a Rumble cartridge feature which rumbled every time you took damage. The disappearing platforms also happened when trying to progress, although some of them would spawn sometimes but they were never enough to get through to the end of the level. Also there were no other weapons other than the default one. Hilarious that I assumed it was a legit Mega Man game.

Yeah, those two GBC games looked like they could've been alright. May have been a problem with the ROM or emulator. I wonder how a flashed cart on an actual system would play. I once tried to emulate X1 to get footage because I didn't have a capture card, but the game ran at 15 FPS, and since the physics in that are tied to the frame rate, the whole thing ran at 1/4 of its normal speed. Lesson learned: 99% of emulators and ROMs don't work. Also, another great video as always! Thank you for suffering through more garbage for our entertainment. And Gil? Do yourself a favor and let yourself play a good game for your next video. I'm pretty sure you deserve it. Maybe play a game that you like but no one else seems to have heard of? You know, that one game that you'll say, "yo freaking is SO GOOD," and people just look at you quizzically. I always love learning about cool things I didn't know existed. Just a suggestion, though. I had played a "legit" copy of the last game in this video obtained from a mom and pop rental store ~18 years ago and even in the physical GBC it had the bugged disappearing platforms. At least the rumble cartridge feature worked flawlessly :D

the zook games definitely have a poor dump, because a lot of bootlegs ironically have strong copy protection, so you have to get them from re-releases or multi-game carts. More recent dumps and especially the actual cartridges have less glitches and are a lot of fun

It's not buggy at all, and it plays very decent. The main character looks like X, he can slide like megaman and dash like X. Pretty fun.

I own Zook Hero Z as a cart, and I think it's really good. It doesn't have the freezing bug the DX6 version does, and I feel the controls are actually pretty good for the most part, just different to what you'd expect. Zook Hero 2 is a sequel, but I do agree is worse apart from the graphics. The dumped version is actually a rougher version from a multi-cartridge, the single cart allegedly has better hit detection. The minibosses are all possible in the versions I've played, they just don't flash to register damage. And yes, the music is awesome

I don't know why people say MegaMan and MegaManX aren't the same character. In the first MegaMan X game it says that MegaManX was the first in a new series of robots that can think and feel. In the classic series which takes place before the X series ALL robots have the ability to think and feel and in MegaMan3 it's shown that MegaMan is the first in the series (because ProtoMan is number zero) So they are the same character.

Yeah, I'm thinking it's probably by the same developers (Yong Yong). Music in this one sounds slightly less like total earrape than Sonic Adventure 7/Sonic 3D Blast 5 though and the GBC palettes are slightly less fugly (though I'm going by this video alone) so perhaps this came out later. Collision detection looked slightly less borked too.
