Fun fact: the Megaman Vs Metroid game was part of a pair, the other game pitting Mega Man against Ghosts and Goblins. Complete one, and it was meant to give you a power up to use in the other. There was also one which used an Ikaruga-style polarity system. It was pretty fun, last I checked.

In Megaman vs. Metroid you actually do have to fight Samus as the boss, it's rather amazing even if getting that far can be confusing and infurating.

I remember enjoying megaman vs metroid as a kid. Yes samus is the final boss and if you win you get her missiles. If you're tbinking "what's the point of that" there's a sequel game megaman vs ghost and goblins with the same concept where the samus missiles carry over and vice versa

You do fight Samus at the end of that flash game it also links with another game he did where you do a stage from Ghosts and Goblins and fight Arthur at the end, if you also beat the metroid game you can use whatever samus weapon was (I don't remember) and if you beat the ghosts and goblins one you can use Arthurs lance in the metroid game.

If you're looking for ACTUALLY GOOD Mega Man flash games, I recommend two Mega Man Zero fangames by NG user arayh. They have extremely good controls (almost 1:1 to the GBA games) and pretty decent level designs. They occasionally have cheap tricks, but they're actually pretty fun.

5:55 Hot damn. Whoever made that looks like they either really tried to replicate the look of raycasting by putting 2d wall sprites in a 3d environment and just forgot that they rotate with the camera, or they just fucked up really hard with raycasting. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt and say they really tried to do raycasting buy couldn't figure out how to do it well, but it really looks like its just shoddily placed sprites.

I remember playing Megaman next and honestly looking at it in a way it is underrated and both understandably problematic, but anyway i played all of this game (although in the easiest mode) and i remember probably Protoman or someone in Doc. Willy mansion being the most difficult boss and that the Robot dragon has a two phase fight - one in normal mode and second as decrepit half skeleton, main bosses being in 2 type of size - small one and large one.

I actually liked Megaman Next as a kid, even if the graphics and music weren't great. The game was made back in the early 2000's if memory serves right, and the guy who made it admits himself it isn't his best work. It obviously doesn't hold up anymore, but still.

The Mega Man vs. Metroid game does end with a Samus boss fight. You get the Missile weapon for beating her, which... doesn't do anything remarkable, I find. There's a sequel game: Mega Man vs. Ghost n Goblins. And you fight Sir Arthur at the end and can claim his Lance as a weapon. Interestingly, despite being separate games the unlockable weapons can be used in each other's games (missiles in the GnG one, Lance in the Metroid game). And by beating both you unlock Proto Man.

I actually played some of these games. I remember playing Megaman Next, and Megaman X Next, but I tried the other characters. Also thr Megaman vs Metroid game is honestly the best one, actually I think the same guy made one where you fight Arthur from Ghost and Goblins, and the weird thing is, if you beat one of them, it gives you that powerup to use in both of the games.

Really surprised you didn't talk about any of the better Mega Man Flash games out there, but since you were on Newgrounds, I guess you couldn't help it. That said, I do recommend Rokko Chan. It's a Japanese Flash game (it has a built in English option, don't worry) that stars what basically amounts to Roll in her MM8 design dressed up as Mega Man fighting a bunch of brand new Robot Masters by Not-Wily. Looks and plays exactly like the original games (but with the X games' Dash feature added) and it's a ton of fun.
