I personally don't see this as an upgrade to NA2+ but rather as a totally different style of a device. The beauty of the older note air is the insanely long battery life. I use mine only for work now and might charge it once a month or so which is ideal, I never have to worry about it. Even if it's on 10% I can still get through a work day just fine.

@@amaella1 Exactly. I have NA2+ as well. The battery life is one of the things I love most; it makes it feel like a notepad and less a tablet.

@@amaella1 agree, that battery life is something that I love about black and white e-ink. 2+ was a real high water mark. It was great that you could just pretty much forget about charging and just charge in the evening whenever you got the notification as you say, at like 10%.

I don't see how they can really make Kaleido 3 substantially whiter, there's effectively no white, it's just the 3 RGB colours combined to trick our eyes into thinking it's white. Reflecting as much ambient light as possible is really the only thing they can do to improve it, and I suspect they done that the first time around, so only small gains or brighter backlights, which creates more glare ,could really offer improvements.

It would be interesting to see a comparison of pen stroke -> eraser -> pen stroke between the two. The 3C and the ultra tab c have a significant delay between pen down and rendering starting for the first stroke.

I find the colours are a little more vibrant on mine than the NA3C. Noticeable but not ground breaking

Using a remarkable pro, the screen is bigger, colors are brighter, the light though is a lot weaker. So I guess my next purchase will have to wait for the next Tab 13" with color and frontlight. But I love the fact that they pushed the light intensity up.Thanks for enlightening us on that addition.

Colour at the cost of battery life and battery longevity, is still a hard pill to swallow.

If you keep the front light off, there is no extra battery drain. If you put it at a reasonable 50%, the battery drain is only 1% per hour. That's not excessive either. If you keep the front light at 50% max, you will get MORE battery life out of the Air C then out of the reMarkable2 !!!

@@orangeswell1469 Me too, even a brick would suffice, I don't like batter anxiety and then when you've burning through cycle counts... its not going to hold its charge sooner than later if you are a heavy user... and I don't like the idea of cracking open the device to replace the battery.

Can you make a video comparing the screen more. Especially with color photos, comics graphs, charts, etc. Maybe it's the video on my phone, but I can't really tell a meaningful difference between the two.

I was waiting and hoping for them to release the b/w update of the Note Air series first, as there is arguable a bigger upgrade to be had jumping to 300ppi. Also, there is no Boox alternative for 10,3 inch, 300ppi with backlight in their lineup. The NA4C is just an iterative and redundant upgrade in comparison.

two things to check out if possible (partly for go 10.3 considerations with firmware 4.0 too to compare with supernote) - pdf planner with hyperlinks in notes app. Critical use case for me and a key differentiator with supernote at the moment - Search speed. With OCR in the background are search results much faster if you’re searching a doc with a fair bit of handwriting?

I'm really looking forward to the full review. My majour question is, how does it hold up when reading heavy art filled PDF books like TTRPGs or even comics? Reading and notetaking are what I'd primarily use it for. I'm torn between E-Ink and regular tablets that work toward reducing eye strain, like the TCL NXTPAPER lineup (though I question the USA release), or the Huawei Matepad pro Papermatte, mainly because of the PDF issue, even good laptops lag sometimes while scrolling through art heavy PDF's. It's hard to find much here in the US, though. It seems like we don't get a lot of what you guys across the pond see. And I've tried a lot of good PDF reading apps, the fastest one I've found, Sumatra, sadly, doesn't seem to be available on tablets. I don't edit them often enough to pay for a PDF reader/editor, so I stick with the free options. Foxit is the best I've used for phones and tablets.

Might have to stick to LCDs for now, then. Just got the Clara C and was kinda disappointed by the grayness even compared to my ~10 year old Aura. And with short battery life, it just doesn't have many advantages.

Great hands on Kitt. I ordered the 4 and my daughter will get my three month-old 3 for uni next year. Did you check if the cases for the 3C fit the 4C? Are the magnets in the same places? I’d like to use my aftermarket case I bought for the 3C with my new 4C

Well, very nice. I have to slightly disagree with your assumption about the Gallery 3. The restrictions of G3 are well known to me, but it would still be cool to have an Onyx 13.3 inch option for it. I don't mind the flashing if the color picture is great. As I am mainly using my Tab X for reading PDFs, e-books, Comics and some websites, a Gallery 3 screen would be dope. Maybe they even could improve the screen a little. The Remarkable Paper Pro has a good screen, but I don't like the restrictions. No webbrowser and even no way to read CBR files or other more rare formats? Mehhhh ...

Yeah, I agree, but I think they have to think about what a Boox Gallery 3 device is like. It would certainly need to be marketed differently even if it doesn't need a while different operating system. They'd certainly need to work on the screen modes to get it working brilliantly. Don't forget how hard the Bigme Galy flopped!

I am wondering with NA4C specs now being closer to the specs of the Tab Ultra C Pro, if it's still better to go for the Tab as a daily productivity driver (of course outside of having a keyboard case) when considering the price of both the devices and their power 🤔

Boox seems to have a confused lineup if the main difference between Air ans Ulta Pro is the ability to use keyboard. I really want Ultra Pro but without color and with quality speakers and wifi modem - this plus notorious warranty handling prevents me from switching from iPad Pro.

I just received my Note Air 3C. I tried to return for 4C and the customer service didn’t respond until I actually opened the boxes. Now I am torn whether I should take the hit of 15% restocking fee + shipping costs for 4C. Any suggestions?

You should, just for the appreciation and plus bigger ram and brighter screen. Airr3 c price will significantly drop soon. When the air5 c comes up next year then at least 4c will be better priced than to air3 c to sell for an upgrade.

@@MrKlawUK KitBetts is very much overstating the battery life drainage. It is not bad at all. Also, BSR is NOT a problem. Only the front light at full will drain the battery quickly. If you keep it at 50%, the battery life is only 1% per hour from the frontlight. That's very reasonable. Battery drain is NOT related to BSR or anything else, but to how much you actually write on it. Writing on the Air C costs LESS battery then it does on the reMarkable2 !! If you keep the frontlight below 50%, you get more note taking time our of the Air C, then out of reMarkable2 ! Check out these videos where Jeffrey Moss has done an excellent job figuring out what kind of action drains the battery, and what doesn't: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3S4ooKKZbaMqq8 kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5yXpmiJYrB2e7M (in the second video you get an table with comparison to many other devices. VERY enlightening! ) Yes, front light at maximum drains battery badly (6%/hr). But at a very reasonable 50% intensity, it is only 1%/hr. And the actual heavy continuous note taking is 12%/hr. Which might seem a lot, but is actually totally average. Remarkable2 is 15%/hr for continuous note taking. Has anyone claimed about a short batterylife there? Go 10.3 and Supernote A5X get 8 and 8.8%/hr resp. Ofcourse, in practice, you don't write continously... there's idle times... Assuming 25% notetaking during the time the tablet is on, the Air C gets 25 hr of battery life with continous 50% frontlight, whereas reMarkable2 is at 27 hrs. So pretty much equal !! Again... did anyone complain about the horrible battery life of the reMarkable2??? Yes, you can get up to 50 and 45 hrs with Go 10.3 and Supernote. Turn off the frontlight on AirC and you get 35 hours... So sure, Air C battery life is not the best... but it isn't dramatic either. It is perfectly acceptable compared to other devices.

I think it might be a similar improvement to that which we'll see in the Kindle Colorsoft. A better front lighting system, or the way the screen reflects that light. But they certainly knew what people wanted to hear on that front!
