1956 Eddie Cochran plays Twenty Flight Rock! Noticed the guitar solo has been restored by Heppest of the Hep in livin' HD! Was never happy with the "studio cut" in the movie , The Girl Can't Help It! Now, the Girl, Really Can't Help It! Made for all the Eddie Cochran fans world wide! FYI we also have easy on the eyes, blonde bombshell Jayne Mansfield sharing the screen! Dig it the most! #heppestofthehep #hep #hoth

I wouldn't say rock and roll would be totally different. Gene Vincent lived a decade after the crash that killed Cochran, but his influence never extended beyond his late 50s/early 60s heyday. Even Chuck Berry didn't have much of an impact on popular music after the early 60s and he died just 3 years ago. In fact, I can't think of any early pioneers of rock who went on to be highly influential for many years after. Elvis came closest having lots of hits, but did Burning Love and Suspicion Minds really change the course of music in any significant way? I'd say no. Don't get me wrong. Maybe Cochran's career would have been different. We'll never know. But judging by his contemporaries, I'd consider it unlikely.

Many years later I attended twice concerts in London featuring Little Richard, Chuck Berry and the recently dearly missed Jerry Lee Lewis. Truly Great Memories.

I’ve heard about the legendary Eddie Cochran and heard his stellar music since I was a kid. But this my first time seeing the man play and sing, and it’s a stunning eye opener, he was an undoubted talent, not just on stage, but in production too, to get the records to sound the way they did. What a terrible loss of a young life at 21, just 1 year and 2 months after Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and The Big Bopper also perished as young Rock n Rollers. RIP

Besides Summertime Blues which is a classic Rocker covered by the Who even, he influenced Punk! The Sex Pistols copied his guitar riffs and you can hear it clearly in several Pistols songs. At least I do. The guitar riff right before Rotten starts singing in the beginning of God Save the Queen. For example is Cochran’s. De do dada, de do dada, de do dada I am an Anti you know the rest. As a guitar player, I noticed this. The repeating Riff is Cochran’s. Go Figure! And Sid Viscous even covered Cmon Everybody and Something Else! And Led Zep did too, live. Cochran was more popular in Britain than America as he toured there last. He sadly died in a car crash with Gene Vincent and his girlfriend in the car with him. Vincent was injured and survived but Cochran hit his head fatally. It’s a genuine shame because he was so talented and like Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens was headed for bigger things! They all were! But now we will never know what might have been.

In his all too brief career Eddie only had 3 songs in the Top 40. "Sittin' In The Balcony" written by John D. Loudermilk, "Summertime Blues" and "C'mon Everybody" but he recorded some great tunes including "Twenty Flight Rock", "Jeannie,Jeannie, Jeannie", "Three Steps To Heaven", "Nervous Breakdown" "Cherished Memories", "Teenage Heaven" and "Guybo"( an instrumental). Him and Hank Cochran performed as The Cochran Brothers although they weren't related. Hank went on to be an award winning song writer. He wrote "She's Got You" for Patsy Cline and co-wrote "I Fall To Pieces" with Harlan Howard.

Oh well, I've got a girl with a record machine When it comes to rockin' she's the queen We love to dance on a Saturday night All alone, where I can hold her tight But she lives on the twentieth floor up town The elevator's broken down So I walked one, two flight, three flight, four Five, six, seven flight, eight flight more Up on the twelfth I'm startin' to drag Fifteenth floor I'm ready to sag Get to the top, I'm too tired to rock Well she called me up on the telephone Said c'mon over honey, I'm all alone I said baby, you're mighty sweet But I'm in bed with achin' feet This went on for a couple of days But I couldn't stay away So I walked one, two flight, three flight, four Five, six, seven flight, eight flight more Up on the twelfth I'm ready to drag Fifteenth floor I'm starting to sag Get to the top, I'm too tired to rock Well, they sent to Chicago for repairs 'Till it's a-fixed I'm using the stairs Hope they hurry up before it's too late Want my baby too much to wait All this climbin' is gettin' me down They'll find my corpse draped over a rail But I climbed one, two flight, three flight, four Five, six, seven flight, eight flight more Up on the twelfth I'm ready to drag Fifteenth floor I'm starting to sag Get to the top, I'm too tired to rock
