After the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor, the United States chose the main island of Bora Bora to serve as a military supply basein the South Pacific, under the covert name “Operation Bobcat.” The tiny island was stocked with ships, equipment, an airstrip, and more than 7,000 soldiers, although it never saw combat. I'm a 20 US Army Combat VET and I've never been stationed in such a beautiful island other than Guam Bora Bora is beautiful. Thanks for the video, this was awesome!!

@@Moonraker11 You do know that the United States Military Academy was founded as an engineering school so that the Army would have an Officer Corps educated for situations just like this. Not trying to be snarky. The Army Corps of Engineers builds bridges, roads, civil works, Combat Engineers can do incredible thing in short order under enemy fire. Getting a gun emplacement up a hill is a fairly simple, straightforward operation compared to all of that. I would imagine they used their biggest Caterpillar tractors and towed everything up.

Thank you, Shaun and Jon, for sharing such a beautiful place with us, your viewers. I know it’s a place that I’ll never have the opportunity to visit. So, I appreciate being able to watch you, Jon, and Andrea enjoy all the amenities of such a beautiful island. It is so hard to believe that the water there is SO clear. Nice job, Jon, catching that shark. How in the Heck, did y’all get that hook out of that shark’s mouth? Look forward to seeing the video of the trip back to the mainland, and on to Florida. Happy Flying, and Safe Landings.
@CorporatePilotLife6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Richard! The next segment is in the editing process now...should be out later this week. We actually opted to not remove the hook from that shark's mouth. The way I tie the line, I'm able to cut it at a distance from the mouth and remove the line leaving just the hook. It will rust out in just a few days in that salt water. It was in the very corner of it's mouth, so it shouldn't interfere at all with it's eating in the mean time. Thanks for following along!

I have been to Bora Bora, Moorea and a couple of the other islands years ago when Exploration Cruise Lines had a small cruise ship there. Good that you got to Bloody Mary's. Is the sign with all the celibrity names on it still there? An old rocker Billy Idol was there when we were and the people I was with saw a few more well know people. When snorkeling or scuba, look out for the stone fish, if you get stung by one it could kill you. I just loved the clear water.

When I worked on cruise ships South Pacific was my favorite run. Caribbean is nice but Polynesia is the definition of 'tropical island'. Loved going to the little grocery store to the left of the tender quay and buying baguettes, French cheese and pates and frozen peas to feed the fish. Sneaking into the high end hotel beach and having incredible afternoons. No need to snorkel to watch fantastic array of fish. OH yeah, and Bloody Mary's .

Incredible video on this whole trip, thx so much for posting. Appreciated the route planning charts and you going through the logic, too. I'm well versed on US ATC procedures (my company provides ATC simulation services), but this was my first time hearing international ATC. As always, seeing this level of CRM is impressive, you guys are killing it. Love hearing the thinking behind weather diversions, quick climbs to get above weather, etc. That's what it's all about right there. Your pax couldn't be in better hands. Lastly, we're helping GS with human factors testing on the G500 + G600. I hope you get to experience that flight deck at some point. It's quite the airplane.
