This is the peaceful Boracay I remember when I visited for the first time in April 1983 where there were no parties on the beach. In the evening we were just walking by the shore listening to the crash of the waves. The whole island had no electricity back then. It was truly zen back then. I am happy you returned back to Boracay. ♡♡♡
@Гапакс.Легоменон6 жыл бұрын
I was there in June '83 and recall seeing only a handful of people on the beach at any one time. About 4-5 banca's ferried people from Caticlan (maybe twice a day) and anchored directly on the beach. I also recall only three or so nipa hut style resorts on the beach, but there may have beee more, and I do believe they had electricity. No vendors. No fire dancers. Women (non-local) often went topless. Personally, I find old Boracay pleasant to think about, but prefer the newer, more developed Boracay. For the "old Boracay" feel, there are other areas -- some quite close to Boracay -- that one could go to.

You can really see the big difference. We feel more safe and at ease. The process on going to boracay feels much more smoother. For my 3 days stay i have not seen any piece of garbage on the sand or any cigarette butts. And yes you can still drink alcohol and have night party in different bars. I enjoyed my 2nd time visiting boracay than the last time. Even there where no water sports this time. I enjoyed the "NEW BORACAY". My words was not enough to express my experience. It might've had negative impact to the businesses and people around boracay for 6months. But if it wasn't done at all, the island will *forever die* in no more than 10 years from now, which will leave all of them with nothing. I also love the fact that we really are seeing that rules are really being implemented and this was closely monitored by the President himself, not just relying on his people. This close down is just one of the solid proofs that if there's a will, there's a definitely a way.

I really appreciate you being the "Boracay Evangelist". Wish you feature this again by 2020 where many of those constructions you've seen should have been completed. The major roads will have bicycle lanes and greeneries so it's interesting to see how it will look by then. More great news is that, internet connection will be far better from 2019 onwards as there's a new major player now to compete the duopoly in the country's telecoms industry so you should be noticing 27 Mbps by end of 2019 and 55 Mbps of speed from 2020 onwards. There's also a planned Cable car near the soon to be completed Boracay airport (construction begins next year) and a tram/monorail on the island but that would take around 4 years to be completed where construction will begin next year. So, keep on coming back and showcase the changes happening on the island paradise. Cheers!

Because sometimes Filipinos are the ones who ruin the place. Self discipline is a must when it comes to protecting the environment. Vacation is for you to relax not to party all over the place that it became annoying to the people who just want to relax, appreciate the beauty and just want to feel the nature. It matter so much to them their looks rather than the beauty of the place. It should be the other way around because that's where they get credit for. Protecting the environment while tourist can appreciate it more not just the people living in that place but whole place itself and it is more become their advantage.

Anyways, Boracay needed those 6 months. Decades have passed and the local government and businesses used Boracay's resources for their own benefit. About time Boracay took a rest. I think everyone should watch this video first if they wish to go to Boracay. It's very informative and honest. I've been here for so many times and as a tourist from the neighboring province, i can say the island has changed so much. It no longer excites me whenever somebody talks about it. But now, I can't wait for December to go back there and enjoy once again the serenity of the beautiful island. Thank you for creating this video and showcasing the breathtaking scenery of Boracay 💖

Was there 4 days ago. Been over 30 times to Boracay and by far my favorite beach in the Philippines. Yes, there is construction everywhere and a bit hectic, but within a few months it will all come together, They have made major improvements such as adding more trees on the beach and adding trash cans on the walkway. Streets are much wider and proper drainage being installed. Saw a solar powered enclosed jeepney and expect to see more of these Vendors are still about everywhere (even children as sand castle constructors) lol. Water sports just reopened and daily more businesses are reopening. As for nightlife, I did see Pubcrawl back in business but not sure the venue, Summerplace is renovated and nice, club galaxy waiting on permit but should be open this month. You can smoke and drink but not on the beach front. Will go back in a week and stay for 2 weeks.

hey mate, any update on how it is now? keen to go back, but not if nightlife & parties etc are dead...

roger abker we checked out summertime bar right on the beach. They did a major remodel of it so much bigger, modern and cleaner. Had a great time there, good party scene. I also saw reps with pub crawl shirts so they must be doing it again. I spoke with the owners last week of December
@georgeallen43896 жыл бұрын
At club galaxy. Was not open at that time but may be now. They were waiting for permits. You can check their FB page for updates. Looks like nifty fifties was under remodel, club parse was open, wave by hennan was still closed due to permits, ohm closed for remodel, Epic under remodel and if I’m not mistaken looks like cocomangas was closed or possibly demolished. Not as active as before but still not bad. By April everything should be open again and road construction mostly completed. Cheers!

very informative and great video 😍 I'm glad Boracay chose to be more environmentally friendly 💚 Many places in the Philippines need to be regulated to safeguard the very thing that makes it beautiful: nature. I have hope that this Christmas and New Year will bring in more families and visitors who want to relax. Before the change, every video I saw of Boracay couldn't convince me to go there, but now it's on the bucket list 😍

I just wanna share that they’ve started already with El Nido, me and my boyfriend went this April and they were implementing a no use of sunscreen in one of the island tours which means they are aware that they can be closed next. There were some videos went out after a storm that all the bottle trash went inside one of the lagoons. Its a bit sad and scary that the Government has to come to extreme measures to prove a point and close not just any islands, but tourist spots. It boils down to us people, everyone in the community, not just tourists, to coordinate and help the environment be sustainable for us and for the future. Thanks for sharing this video for everyone to know! I hope we all do our part in taking care our environment whether its your own country or not.

His not the only Philippine President who made history for the Philippines you know. Just saying Emilio Aguinaldo is a big deal and gave Philippines their Independence, but hey I guess closing an island for environmental purpose (which to be honest should've been done by the businesses in the first place and not the government) is a great feat thanks for pointing that out.

Honestly this is the best thing that they could have ever done. I live in philippines, I love this place and is a masterpiece of nature, it really needs to be protected. I am tired of this party people every way just ruining and crashing everything just for some party. That is what clubs are meant for. Natural environments need to be preserved because once that we destroy them what are we going to do? vacations on the night club? no. party people to the night clubs and tourism to this wonderful places. I think that is great that they regulate the flow of people in every place, is a way to preserve it and to keep its magic. Overcrowded places just loose the touch that makes them unique.

An administrator of El Nido indeed said on TV that they will regulate the number of tourists who can visit any island in El Nido per hour. The number of kayaks will also be reduced. I remember that one island will take in only 60 pax per hour and another 50 pax per hour. I forgot the names of the islands. Take note that he is an administrator of El Nido but not from the Department of Tourism who is the agency in charge of the clean up of tourist areas.
