I mean technically he did. Pandora is filled with lunatics and dangerous creatures but it's a perfect place for humanity to move when Earth gets overpopulated/destroyed. Handsome Jack's plan was to whipe out all life on the planet, yes that sounds bad but the bandits are not exactly reasonable. Could he have done it better with the crimson raiders? No. It's shown in the pre-sequal that the "leaders" of the crimson raiders were former friends of Jack that betrayed him. Almost all his life he has been betrayed, abused and just hated even though he just wanted to do good things. Please watch Game Theory's video on the matter if you haven't already. Its so good and made me feel so different every time I play through the game! It really made me see Jack as the hero he truly was.

I've gone back this month to replay B2 to see if it really was all that and I'm laughing on an "every 5-10 minutes basis" which is a lot for such a long game, and it's far more than 3 which I think made me laugh once. So yeah it's not in your heads, part 3's writing took a huge nose dive. I think the craziest part is how much of a drop off between villains the entries took. Handsome Jack was amazing and I loved being able to push his shit in through the game , and with the calliosos I was just in a constant state of cringe, plus the tyreen chick sounds like Mickey mouse

With enough development like you said, Katagawa could and should have been the main villain with Maliwan as the big threat. Honestly, I think that's the biggest problem with Jack. He left such a huge impact that any antagonistic threat afterwards is essentially doomed to live in his shadow, and be constantly compared to him, along with standards which could lead to some unreasonable expectations. Plus, I think the Calypsos were a case of where the writers tried so hard to parody obnoxious internet influencers, like the Paul Brothers, that they ended up emulating the obnoxious nature of those people too well.

People aren’t going to like every character. What fuckin guy wants to be around an irrational preteen who lost her only role model and is now on a ship with strangers. Y’all really don’t get the mental state of some of these characters. At least they feel fleshed out and have more depth than killing machines. Maybe that was a bad decision borderlands took, but not everyone can be tiny Tina’s. Some of them are representations of real people in a situation like this. Honestly I’ll say this again how’re most people (especially in their most delicate and fragile mindset) going to react? Sorry for the rant I just understand the psychology of some of these characters and appreciate the realness some of them provide. Are they fucking annoying? Yes. Half the people you’ll encounter will piss you off in real life, at least we can kill them (most of them) without consequences

jack couch I’m super excited for that, but still a bummer having to wait an entire year for his BL3 debut. Also some tech savvy folks got into the files and found that Krieg was supposed to have a role in the main story. IIRC, Krieg was a spy for Lilith and was supposed to be rescued by the player on Promethea. I’m guessing somewhere along the way they scraped that idea, canned him from the story and created the coffee obsessed person (forgot her name) to replace him. Super disappointed when I read that, honestly :/

Even thieves in "Home alone" have more personality, more respectable traits, and we know nothing about their previous storyline.

Troy had a lot of potential and they could have gone in various directions with his character. But they didn’t, and anything that was being hinted or implied was thrown out the window, which is a shame. He wouldn’t have been the next Handsome Jack, but it would have made the game better.

*SPOILERS!* Funny enough, when 2K decided to kill off Maya in the Cutscene, they tried to make the Twins more hated than before, but what they actually did was start of the global hate for Ava, who 2K tried to come off as the Prodigy to Maya.

See it pisses me off that no one in the game brings up the fact that Ava technically got maya killed and it’s all liliths fault. If she had done as she told instead of being this “rebel emo it’s not a phase mom” preteen then they could have left the vault/retreated when the twins got there or even had a way better chance at fighting them instead of having to worry about Ava. I know that if she hadn’t have died there then nothing really would have happened with endgame stuff but come on at least someone should’ve said something about it instead of “Ava your absolutely right/well do something this time”
