Obsidian sucks even more. Outer Worlds is a game for dumb neo-Marxists. The dialogue was fucking cringe. I mean every single NPC communicates like their in a modern 16-century play. Both choices could have been made realistic like fallout new vegas but no the board was forced to be annoyingly lame and evil. While the old independent Wamen were using less common words no one uses like instead of scared using the word "qualms" or elswise? like why? "there's marauders here about" "gall on that rungleech" "dangers aplenty" "a little ways east" I mean it's fine to use sometimes but 100% of the conversations are written that way.

I’m happy this game turned out to be a success and I’m looking forward to the sequel in a few years that touches the AAA space. This felt better than many AAA games that came out this year! My ultimate hope is to see more original animations and more weapon/armor variety. I actually liked the map of this much better than New Vegas!

I loved this game. I understand when some people say it felt just a little bland but that's fine. This was obsidian first solo attempt so they played it safe and it paid off. They can save all the heavy innovation for the sequel.

I believe it's a great fondation and starting point to Obsidian's future.

They might have meant the modern take on Fallout, like as an FPS/OTS RPG. The Fallout games obsidian were involved with making were mostly top down turn based games, nothing like the Outer Worlds' gameplay. The first Fallout to do this style was Fallout 3, which was made by Bethesda (Also at the time a lot of the fans of the original games thought it was heresy to turn Fallout into an FPS and hated on bethesda for that so... yeah). TLDR: He might mean the gameplay style, not the franchise in general.

I know that Bethesda has turned into a shit tier company, but there's no reason to pretend that Obsidian created Fallout, even the modern iteration of Fallout. It's factually not true.

That's the point, it's their first time making something like this completely on they're own, they have the foundation now. All the heavy innovation is for the sequel where they can build upon said foundation. New vegas was amazing but it was also buggy as hell and could have been a lot better if they had more time.

Yeah New Vegas was definitely bigger but it's also a bug filled mess. I remember it took me a whole day just to get it running properly. I think Obsidian are deliberately scaling down this game to more manageable level. Considering most of Obsidian past games tends to be very ambitious but unstable I think they're trying to step away from that.

I actually liked that lockpick system better because i could be a shit level but if i had enough skill or enough picks i can plow through it. In this game I'm completely restricted where if i dont have the right amount of skill level well thats that unless i find a keycard or wait until i level and return back to the same place but by then the stuff there is pretty much useless anyways.

Well if i can be fair. Bethesda's only screwup is fallout 76. But its a huge one. I get pissed when people compare bethesda with EA when its all just about 76. People seem to forget Skyrim & Fallout 3. Fallout 4 was alright, but to much time spended on basebuilding (wich Todd admitted was a bad move) and the removal of certain RPG elements (wich ironically, were reintroduced in 76) I havent given up on bethesda. But i wont really defend them. My opinion falls on the future. TES 6 and the next fallout. Here they can redeem themselves......But if they do not, i am ceasing to buy products from them after that

The scary part is Obsidian might lose isometric. PoE 2 and Original Sin were close for me, but Disco Elysium made them pale. Meanwhile the first person throne is rumored to be taken by Cyberpunk 2077. So it's actually hard one to get. The ironic thing is that AAA doesn't compete there anymore... well, technically CD PR(over a billion and going strong) and Obsidian(Microsoft) are AAA now.
