Star Citizen is an Open Development Alpha Project that aims to build a First Person MMO Space Sim that covers gameplay in ship & on ground, economy and pretty much anything else you would want. It's built in the StarEngine (a modified Lumberyard Engine). You'll see massive Space Ships that you can fly with friends, land on planets, explore or whatever your way to whatever goal you choose. It's available to try in it's current Alpha State Now & you can help give feedback & influence the direction of the game.
Squadron 42 is the Single Player Campaign of Star Citizen & the Spiritual Successor of Wing Commander. The Idea is the game is maximum pretty and seamless... NO LOADING SCREENS.
Both Games are currently in the Alpha of their development with the hope that SQ42 Episode 1 may be released Q3-4 2019.
I am suspecting to see a Star Citizen MMO/PU Beta end of 2020.

People may scoff, but being able to jiggle an ice cube around in your drink is important; it brings a sense of scale to the game. Looking down at a planet from orbit means more when you've sat in a bar on that planet and focused on the contents of your cup.

I can't tell if your are deluded or pretentious. Looking down at a planet should always be breathtaking. You don't need to stare into a cup to appreciate it. This is supposed to be a GAME, dude. Why the fuck should I waste my time staring into a fake cup of coffee. I can do that in real life.

landing in general feels really finicky, I hope they will improve it with the new flying mechanics. maybe add a landing radar like Elite has.

Definitely agreed there. Though I believe at some point the Devs said something about this. Something about cameras and such being hard. Though that probably might have changed.

I highly doubt it's hard to add another camera. They have 4 default cameras as it is. FP Player, TP Player, TP Ship and Reverse Third Person Ship. Placing 1 on the bottom of the hull isn't hard in my opinion. Make sure it's Field of View is large enough to encompass the area the ship requires though. edit: but like Sod White said, I think they'll do a proper one eventually.

Chris Roberts - take as much time as you need. This is the first time in the history of gaming where there are no shareholders or publishers (looking at you ubisoft and ea) pushing developers to rush out a game. Every time you guys release something, its like opening a present on Christmas. You keep surprising all of us with how much detail and depth there is in this world of Star Citizen. Keep doing what you're doing and don't listen to any of the haters!!!

jdl232 if you wanted to play something fast paced with no depth and simple mechanics then there are games already out on the market that cater to that such as Destiny or Battlefield. Star citizen is a piece of art that is constantly pushing the boundaries of conventional game making to create something beautiful and breathtaking. I agree that the optimisation is completely shit right now in Star Citizen. I built a good computer just so I could play the alpha but I could barely even cut through 30 fps. I’m not a game developer but optimisation of frames is polish that can be done in the background. I’m sure right now the dev team is working really hard to just to pump out the raw game first.

dude cd project red pumped out all their games without any share holders/publishers....they are their own standalone company, they have been doing it since 2007 so the only special and different thing about Chris and his company is the scale and depth of the game lol

the frames problem is server side so no matter how good your pc is its gonna be a bad time but this is being fixed in 3.3 so that people will get over 60fps.....just thought i would let you know.

The action menu does take you time to do things, they need a quick action like just quick tap F to open a door or the main action of an item

They have some of those quick action buttons. But yeah. That is very much needed for a lot of thing the most common actions. A quick interaction button when you not messing around with a panel or some other fine precision thing.

I really enjoyed this demo. There are plenty of people saying it's slow and boring, just like with the S42 demo; but, they're missing the fact that a real player is going to set a more aggressive pace, most of the time. Not to mention, the gunplay in the demos is pretty atrocious, due to using controllers. Also, seriously cannot wait to trudge around in the savannah biome.

Some of it, some of it looks worse now. Look at the bunker around 41:43.....we do not have those awesome smoke effects in them. Also, we have no missions that have multiple parts like this other than SoO and that is rare event. I want this game to be amazing as I backed it and play it every day, but man idk if they will ever get there.

I love how in depth even the simple missions are becoming, although sometimes I worry 'normal' players wont know to try all this stuff, it will be difficult to make sure the player knows what to do where and when without it being too sign posted. beautiful visuals as always.

The music reminds me of Blade Runner so much. So very well done. They really got the atmospheric part nailed down. The planet looks amazing too. Can anyone tell me if the planet and gameplay seen here are all going to become available in 3.3? I heard Hurston will be available for exploration at least, but will that include Lorville with the metro system, NPCs, quests and so on?

It's not smoother. "Mouse smoothing" makes it buttery smooth. I have no idea why the fuck they use controllers. Edit: on second thought, CIG is full of amateurs and guys who clearly don't actually play or test their own alpha, so it wouldn't surprise me if they literally didn't know about it.
