@pasichidziva86872 жыл бұрын
This is all the Borg queens game, she is making Agnes think what she wants and nearly definitely planted the idea in Agnes' head that she was special and impressed the queen. She didn't, this is all to bend Agnes to the queens will. A quick crash course for the newer Tekkies: The Borg Queen is a multi-dimensional being of nearly infinite intelligence, she is a hive mind of over a trillion beings whose minds networked and bound to her own. She is still connected to her other selves in other realities and was able to calculate nearly anything. In seconds she calculated every possible past event to figure out where time changed. That is the work of a quantum computer mind. She figured right up to the day and time when a change was to occur. She has manipulated and calculated for every conceivable scenario. This is all her plan. In Star Trek Voyager, Q, told the other younger Q. "Ive told you once, Ive told you a thousand times. Do not aggravate the Borg!" Q, who is pretty much GOD doesn't want to mess with her nor does the entire Q continuum who can end our reality with the click of a finger. Lets summarise, Agnes VS a 100 000 years old, trillion brained, multi-dimensional quantum computer, connected with itself in other realities, able to predict past and future events and now also networked with every human computer on earth and the internet. These words demand respect. "Resistance is futile."

What does Jurati know of borg? It's nice how the borg became of its true self and not just a machine. In one Star Trek book the borg as a machine was broken from their human-like forms. Both looking for each other. In this video the title the other way around.

Picard should have warn Agnes about not letting the borg touch you like what he said in first contact before he just left Agnes alone with the borg queen. But hopefully it turns out well maybe Q will figure out a way to help the crew and before agnes is fully assimilated picard will finish off the borg queen once and for all.

I think this is an interesting development. First, to some who ask “why didnt the borg queen just assimilate her 100%?”, well, the queen knows she cannot succeed in the open. Only two willing to speak with her at all were Picard(who wasnt going to take shit from her) and Agnes, who’s kind of a reject nerd and vulnerable to manipulation like a lot of nerds tend to be. Ever watch Bedazzled? The devil temps the protagonist exploiting the same vulnerabilities. Agnes is an excellent target for the same reasons: her vulnerabilities, which the queen discovered when Agnes effectively hacked her. And eventually Agnes gives in just enough for the queen to make a move, but does not fully assimilate her. So she can hide in Agnes until she has the perfect moment to reveal herself. Or intervene if necessary. None of her friends know she’s now the borg queens puppet. And she now has more freedom than she’d have if she just assimilated agnes completely. Make no mistake, physically Agnes is screwed: shes got nanites in her and the borg’s mind in her. Its not a matter of if, but when. The other thing to consider. Agnes is neurotic and nervous, but she also can under pressure actually pull miracles off if it gets desperate. We’ve seen that before. How she interacts with a queen stuck in her head we’ll have to see. And how her now likely inevitable complete assimilation will occur once they finally get back into the present.

I think the Borg have adapted to keep the exterior humanoid but inside all Borg tech
@patrickmoore5317 Жыл бұрын
I think the most interesting thing about this it's just how insidious it is. On one hand it is very much un-Borg like. And the reason is the Borg tend to focus more on efficiency over anything else. They will take the most efficient route to deal with the situation and they deal with that in part due to their overwhelming numbers. But the queen is alone. Let that sink in. Loan Borg have been seen adapting and adopting more effective over efficient methods in part as their individuality resurfaces and as a means of survival. Becoming truly duplicitous and resorting to non efficient but highly effective measures becomes a necessity when the queen has no backup. It's like being backed into the corner for the first time. to address both responses at the same time. That's part of the reason the board do not normally use covert OPS. Is they do not find it efficient in a very direct and forward manner. So hiding a board inside of an unassimilated individual would be a matter of desperation as survival is a necessity.

The Borg used to be scary because they could not be negotiated or reasoned with. Reason and negotiating are Picard’s strengths as a Star Ship captain. Since they introduced a Borg Queen, they’re reasoning with her or fighting with her all the time. Nothing scary about that.
@jonbridge12852 жыл бұрын
True, but I also think that even the First Contact Queen couldn't be reasoned with. Maybe by engaging in conversation she gave the illusion of hope and reason. Never liked the voyager queens.

This queen played the narcissist game of manipulation and gaslighting with aplomb. That isnt the same as negotiating, she was manipulating Agnes. Talking like a devil, “i can help you…give me your soul.” Agnes other friends would have caught on to these tactics. Agnes however is the type of person 100% vulnerable to a narcissists manipulations, more-so from Agnes arrogant idea to extract the borg queens information from under her.

Jurati is one of the weakest characters I've ever seen, does she really see NO hope and NO chance of better, even with the quality of the people she is travelling with, even after she killed her own ex in S1? To the point she clearly, willingly, allowed the Borg Queen to Assimilate her? They should have executed the BQ as soon as they got back in time and taken their chances...
@laughingalex75632 жыл бұрын
Its not a lack of hope, its the nerd want to belong but general insecurities of being socially awkward. Ever watch the comedy Bedazzled(2000)? Its the same vulnerability Stanley has that the devil exploits. He wanted a girl but his nerdy dimeaner makes it impossible to approach her. The devil approaches and makes him a deal that he just cannot refuse: all the while planning to never really give him what he wants. Agnes nerdy demeanor leaves her alone 90% of the time. And guess who else knows what its like? The borg queen herself is always a lonely creature(even with the drones, none of them are left with a personality). She saw literally herself in Agnes, and along with the initial partial assimilation Agnes allowed herself to go through(i was thinking this was a TERRIBLE idea), the queen knew all the buttons to push and how. The queen played the devil, the manipulative narcissist exploiting a vulnerable person with aplumb. And only needed at the last moment to play on Agnes’ pity and empathy at the last moments of her dying breath to trick her into arms reach.

This just doesn't feel like assimilation. It was always a dark and horrible experience, nanobots running through veins/capillaries/arteries - altering your body and forming tech throughout. The personality of the individual disappears into chatter with many others (or just the queen in this event I guess). She shouldn't be sitting in her mind with the Queen having a good old chit chat and looking human on the outside. This assimilation seems more like hypnosis or developing multiple personality disorder. The green glow when the supposed nanobots entered her face was just weird. Maybe this is for a new generation of star trek fans? I'm losing interest.
@laughingalex75632 жыл бұрын
Why would the queen assimilate Agnes in a way that they’d have detected it? With her being so minimally assimilated, just enough for the queen to stay in her head and manipulate her, control her without her friends realizing it she has a much more powerful position. She is like a ghost/demon possessing someone and no one around knows the person is possessed.
@GlasgowCelticBhoy2 жыл бұрын
@@laughingalex7563 Yeah - I get it. Assimilate by stealth. But it's plot armour. Assimilation up until now is a process where nanobots needs to change your biology to incorporate tech that links you to the hive mind. That doesn't work here for the story - so the writers have changed the rules. And it doesn't resonate with me. To me, it isn't assimilation. Maybe I'm thinking about this too much. Perhaps the Queen has so much control over what the nanobots are doing that they have put minimal tech inside her brain and that's all. I don't know - I just find myself watching this show with a perpetual raised eyebrow.
@laughingalex75632 жыл бұрын
@@GlasgowCelticBhoy well, the circumstances are unusual, though easy to explain if you dont overthink. One thing at a time. The borg queen is isolated, alone, only member of her species left and crippled badly. She’s severely weakened. But has all the same desires. Including even a friend/companion(whole reasons she assimilated picard in the first place like she had previously). She doesnt really consider her drones as individuals in the same way. So theres another reason she isnt completely overriding Agnes. This is something you’d need to rewatch First Contact to understand: Picard calls her out on it, and her behavior with Data is the same way. Only difference is, Agnes was far easier to tempt because she wanted it. Agnes also had the same want of companionship/longing to belong that the queen had. And like the queen, also very lonely individual. She’s a nerd, and the type that isnt introverted but the type that tries to socialize but is ultimately invisible. Its apparent even in the first season before she encounter Commodore Oh. Make no mistake Agnes will become borg, its not a matter of if but when. The nanites are in her, probably changing things within her gradually as they speak, infiltrate the party ect. But the queen is deliberately slowing it significantly. I guess the real question is, who’s going to win in the mind? Because both were changed a little already after the initial joining/partial assimilation.
@GlasgowCelticBhoy2 жыл бұрын
@@laughingalex7563 Thanks LaughingAlex, appreciate the time you've taken to respond and give your thoughts. You are probably right about me overthinking. The other part is that I'm nearly 42, and I may be turning into one of those "NO... I don't like change" types of older folk 😂 Interesting comparison with Data's slow and let's say different way to be assimilated on FC. It's a good point in that the Queen should have stories built around her that allows her to be more dynamic than the bog standard collective and drones. To be honest, I think I've gotten over the assimilation part as I've heard a few peoples thoughts now, and I'm being a bit unfair. The part I'm now struggling with is Agnes and the Queen sitting side by side in her mind - you should think the Queen would be more like a whisper or a voice that is talking with/over Agnes's internal monologue. But I'll build a bridge, get over it, and allow this story to play out. Will do my best to be less cynical. 👍 Cheers - GCB.
