We found out exactly who The Guardian really represent when Corbyn became Labour leader and he ended up alone with only the support of the online base of youth he had engaged and motivated (which in itself tells you how genuine he is, despite all the smear campaigns it was actually amazing to see that the younger generation were intelligent enough to do what ppl usually do not do which is to focus on the CONTENT instead of the popularity/charisma contest. I just couldn't understand how someone like Corbyn who seemed to embody values supposedly championed by The Guardian was so shunned and dismissed, people are so sick of the faceless Yes men/women infesting politics but the Guardian showed they where in actual fact more interested in preserving the power of the status quo because when at last - after years of middle ground blandness - we had the chance to elect someone who would have radically and positively given opportunity and made life better for those who need it most in our society, someone who offered a route to real and positive change, but there was a conspicuous silence from the Guardianista champaign socialists. As Jeremy points out we are the 5th richest nation in the world, some of the conditions on this island are shameful, he was a rare specimen, he does know what its like he has been there face to face walking the streets as an MP for decades, he might not be Mr T.V Friendly Charisma but he was the real deal and his manifesto was the best chance we had to make things better for a long time. The Guardian is responsible for allowing media hacks to sorely let down the British public by smearing a truly genuine decent MP.

Military aggression is the way countries claim more resources so they can satisfy the billionaires who want more places to build coco cola plants etc. There has been a lot of brilliant research on the Iraq war that has looked at what bringing "democracy" to Iraq meant. I wanted to post this comment that’s not a reply on someone else’s post. We need to realise that non British nationals are the ones who are taking care of us in the hospitals. After brexit was announced some of the educated immigrant doctors have left. Leaving increasing pressure on those doctors that remain. This has had the effect of pressuring Uk born doctors to even leave the country to work in other countries like Australia! I’m a doctor and this is my field. As of the 6th of October, medical professionals entered an official shortage. Immigration is required to bridge this gap.

Greepoloboy : I wonder what you're comparing his performance to. He spouted a load of soundbites and slogans and failed, 3 times, to state whether he supported remain or leave, but just repeated the soundbite. On the third occasion, when he started to repeat his earlier answer, the audience started laughing at him. That will have cost Labour some votes. As for Johnson, I understand why he made the point about Brexit and Corbyn's ducking the question but he was wrong to turn every question on to Brexit. He overdid it and that may have cost the Tories some votes. As things currently stand, Tories have a 12% lead over Labour so can take a hit much better.

In the last 10 yrs richest 1 per cent in UK increased wealth by 500bn whilst austerity cut services. Labour are smeered as unable to manage the economy. But under last labour gov growth rates were higher than this gov. Labour plan to raise corporation tax to 26 per cent. A middle rate for developed countries. Increased tax revenue will pay for increased health and education budgets. It is extreme to vote in another Conservative gov that have achieved nothing. Even borrowing and National debt are up on 2010. The Conservatives have achieved nothing except political chaos.

Labour did not create the global financial crisis. Mainly deregulation of the financial sector did. The bail out required were to private banks for poor lending decisions. The war was inexcusable and you are right created more trouble. But the Tories supported the war as well. All of the present Labour leadership opposed it. A few sentences will not change anyone's views but please consider all the facts together. Do you think this present Conservative government would not support a war started under the Trump administration. That remains to be seen but the present Labour Party would not and my guess if there even a weak case to support a USA war Boris Johnson would support it.
