@@geordiejones5618 Yes, exactly. And he knew Johnny Sack didn't care for Phil that much and would probably let their family off easier if Phil was killed and just tax them heavily for this deed. Billy Leotardo was not a made guy and couldn;t really do much over the killing. Tony B was finished regardless and could never show his face around that area again. Johnny Sack really couldn't let them off the hook though if Phil a Captain was murdered by an associate who went off the reservation. Tony would probably try to sell to Johnny though that Tony B fled and was missing. But he probably realized that Tony B would have to eventually go regardless. Phil was old school like Feech and already thought he was above guys like Tony after doing 20 years in the can and he still thought of Tony as a 20 something kid like he was when he went away.

The Sopranos is the best show ever because of its re-watchability factor. Its not only a well acted drama but has so many memorable one liners. And it is funny as hell. It is one show I can honestly just pick up and just watch a random season or any episode any time and it's still better than almost any new shows even though I know how it ends....or do I?

I agree. The Sopranos was my favorite show until Breaking Bad. And I know The Wire is also one of the best shows I've ever seen, but it's very fucking hard to rewatch. It's just so heavy sometimes whereas The Sopranos is basically 50% drama, 50% dark humor and it's totally aged well.

“That’s not how I want to handle it.” I never paid attention to that line til now. That makes me so convinced that Carmine Jr was the one who had Tony clipped at the end of the series. Look at how Carmine Jr finessed his father on the golf course too in trying to stir up beef with the sopranos. He knew all the triggers that would set off Carmine Sr “what am I always saying??” He worked them all like puppets. Sabotaged the truce meeting with Phil and Tony too - “ya brotha Billie, whatever happened there.” Carmine doesn’t say he wants to quit. He knows he can’t strong arm Johnny or fight him head on. Carmine never had the stomach for this bloodshed and battling or the loss of his own men. He knew that he couldn’t win this way, so he engineered and waited for the other players to remove themselves from the game.... by attacking each other. Genius. Smartest character in the show.

I have begun to wonder whether Little Carmine actually was the winner out of it all. He could see the cycle of violence that was unfolding, so just decided to take a step back, let them all kill each other and be there at the end to pick up the pieces. He was always in the picture when some big discussions were being held, so was always in the loop without having to get involved in the violence. Wouldn't have been surprised if the ending hadn't been Tony getting killed and it cut to Carmine lying on a lilo in his pool with a big cigar chuckling his bollox off.

I think Carmine was actually a genius who played the weak role knowing it would make his life easier. Think about when Johnny gets arrested they talk about how they would have gotten Carmine Sr. if he hadn't died. Carmine was just enjoying life and didn't want to rock the boat. Very allegorical.

The few times we see Blundetto act as a mobster he’s entirely incompetent. Once a car steps over his foot and he allows to be recognized. Second time he doesn’t kill both Leotardos and once again allows himself to be recognized. Was Tony Soprano sure that his cousin was a genius?
