They hate our hair styles and hair because it keeps us proud of our culture and who we are. I had that problem at my job when a supervisor came at me about my hair dictating that I had to straighten it. I blew up like a blow fish and released an anger I did not know I had within me. At the end of all of the madness.I threatened to sue their arses and they backed down real fast. Stay true to who you are and allow no one to make you feel bad about it period!

I personally don't think that he is playing the victim, but he is telling folks this one SMALL hardship that people with even courser hair (people with 2 black biological parent) go through. Both of my parents are documented a black, but my dad is biracial. (I'm not about to go down my biological lineage) My hair is nappy, but... if I'm catching the bliss with My hair I can only imagine what other people with hair more course than mine have to go through.

Great series about what it means to be a privileged, biracial, and adopted nerd by wealthy parents that live in a two story house in California. The race hustling was cringe, along with the shameless humiliation of his mother for woke points... but the lifelong identity crisis, acting out for attention, and self-esteem issues are accurate of Colin and perfectly portrayed in the series.

@Lèmon Lēe For one stop using phrases when it is obvious you don't know ther meaning. His parents looked pretty typical. Let's stop pretending that his adoptive parents were expeienced in raising a biracial kid in a predominantly white community. Lets also stop pretending you have any knowledge of such a scenario as well. Maybe you shoudl stop weighing in on a subject you know nothing about and go find some non-white friends that were adoptied by white families that can honestly tell you about their experience growing up. There are PLENTY of adoptee support groups throughout the United States for adults that experienced the same issues mentioned in this series. FYI stop purposly being ignorant..

I can see why Colin Kaepernick speaks up simply by this comment section. The sheer ignorance is astounding, I will never understand what a black person will go through as an white Irish person but know they do have hardships in modern day society and we all should hear that out. Him comparing the NFL to slavery was so disrespectful to people who actually were slaves slaves didn't get paid millions of dollars live in million-dollar mansions and drive hundred-thousand-dollar cars slaves were forced to work against their will without pay and beaten if they refused. I know one thing if someone was paying me millions of dollars to go out and do absolutely nothing but play a game I would keep my mouth shut and have nothing to complain about. White NFL players get Treated the same way are they slaves too. Tom Brady must have been a great slave. You can't make it about race when it happens to everybody no matter what color they are. That's not how racism works. You have to be the only race of people that it happens to for it to be racist.

I got many derogatory comments about it every day until I cut it. So if a coach acts like that it has nothing to do with race. Most coaches see long hair or wilder hair styles as being indicators of not having discipline (whether right or wrong), and long hair gets in the way when playing most sports. White Trash is a derogatory racist and classist slur used in American English to refer to POOR WHITE PEOPLE, especially in the rural southern United States. The label signifies a social class inside the white population and especially a degraded standard of living. It is used as a way to separate the "noble and hardworking" "good poor" from the lazy, "undisciplined, ungrateful and disgusting" "bad poor". Use of the term provides for middle- and upper-class whites a means of distancing themselves from the poverty and powerlessness of poor whites, members of a privileged class - whites - who cannot enjoy those privileges.

Looks like a great movie. I never understood why any culture believes they own the right to tell people what they can/can't do with their own hair. It isn't just a "black problem" either. It's just hair people! Do what you want and if others don't like it, then that's THEIR issue! Not yours. No matter who you are or what your culture is. You ARE BEAUTIFUL! 💕 ✌

@Lèmon Lēe Go cry in the car. Looks like you have a problem with black people. Oh well. When did Ava Duvernay portray white kids as having no problems? Even in this series Kap’s best friend in HS had his problems and they showed it. So, when did she do this?

I do not understand why white people object to Black Hairstyles. I just don't. I love Black Hairstyles. It's their hair, it's their body, they have the right to do whatever they want to it, just like any other person, white, Chinese, Spanish, or Peruvian! Everyone wears their hair as a statement of who they are. WTF right do white people have to say about anyone! When I first heard about this I was flabergasted. My first thought was 'what gives those white people the right to object to someone's hairstyle?'
