Frankie it was amazing meeting you! I had a blast wrestling with you. A special shoutout to Michelle, Frankie's Mom, for working the camera while Frankie and I played. It can be overstimulating to some of the people I interview to have many new faces in their home, so I travel and film solo to keep the environment calm and low-key. This results in some makeshift, figure it out as I go, filming..... but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Hi guys. I have Level 4 Aqueduct Stenosis Hydrocephalus - most severe degree ever seen on medical record. I looked at those baby pics of Frankie and it was like looking into a mirror of my own early days. Now 48, legally blind, tube fed powerchair user, but also on my 2nd uni degree, doing concert promotion and event coordination for the biggest acts in Australia, and many international artists as well as outliving all medical opinion, expectation and assumption that my life would turn out differently and not so great as it is... Don't ever take one medical word or opinion as a life long statement. Doctors aren't gods and they have no magic power to know how everything turns out. Give Frankie every positive experience and therapy available and believe me, he will be the one shocking them all!!! Parents are amazing and doing all the right things by their kids is already showing so much more than in this video... ❤

I am almost instantly in horrible pain, throwing up etc. You can do anything you want in life! 42 surgeries later, I’m looking to get a masters degree. not the main point, but i love how immediately, the siblings are introduced. the mom even starts frankie’s story talking about his siblings. as a kid i’d have felt pretty crappy if my sibling got a video made about them and i was left out. seems petty but kids are kids, to them frankie’s disability probably doesn’t warrant a video, that’s just how frankie is, but since he gets a video, does that mean he actually matters more or is more loved? it’s normal for kids to struggle with envy and self-doubt like that. something i loved about this channel from the beginning is the sensitivity to everyone involved in the situation, the whole family/friends, not just the kid being interviewed. who of course is the star ❤ but im glad everyone goes out of their way to let the siblings have a role and know they they still matter!

What does that all mean as a diagnosis? I've never heard it the way you say in your comment. Thank you if you can reply. ❤
@autumnwilliams7215Ай бұрын
@ sometimes children are simply born with this condition and neurosurgeons don’t always know why hence “ideopathic”. And there are two forms of hydro, communicating meaning the brain is structurally sound but there’s still an over-buildup of fluid in the ventricles. Or it can be non communicating meaning there’s something structurally wrong with the ventricles or the brain is malformed. The problem with hydro is it can clog ventricles and ducts and put stress and pressure on the brain causing all manner of problems like an oversized head, eye issues, seizures and migraines, lapses of consciousness and other neurological disorders and learning disabilities, issues with speech and coordination, and in very severe cases strokes and death. So the normal course of treatment is to do consistent MRI and CT scans to monitor a patient with hydrocephalus so the doctors know exactly what their’s is doing to them and if it gets worse doctors can catch it, then they can put a shunt into the brain to help drain off the excess cerebro-spinal fluid into the stomach and gut (since people with hydrocephalus cannot naturally drain it off well on their own as a healthy person would do). And sometimes there have to be multiple surgeries, like for instance if the shunt gets clogged or the patient gets them young and then physically outgrows them. Hope this helped.

When my younger sister was born everything looked fine. At her 6 weeks checkup the doctors noticed something different across her forehead and her eye sockets. She was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus. She was immediately taken to surgery and had a shunt placed. She did good for about a year and suddenly her head started to grow bigger almost over night. She went in for another brain surgery and this time she had another shunt put in. She almost died 3x. She contracted a staph infection. She ended up with staph meningitis. She stayed in the hospital for about 2 months. Her head was alot bigger than before she went in. She ended up with mental retardation and was paralyzed on her left side. She was never able to walk. Needed help with everything. Her 1st surgery was in 1957 and the 2nd surgery was in 1958-1959. We were told years ago that she wouldn't live past her adolescence. She is now 67 years old and lives in a home with other patients with special needs. She has to have 24/7 care. Unfortunately, she had to have a feeding tube 2 years ago so her health has gone down. We never know how long anyone will live, so keep praying. The doctors are wrong about 75% of the time when they tell you how long someone will live. Always have hope. I love that this channel is on you tube. It's a real Godsend. Thank you and God Bless. 🙏💖

Frankie’s expressions were very easy to read to me. He seems to be listening to everything being said about him, especially from his dad. Beautiful child❤️

What a great family. It's not easy for the siblings. I know this first hand. It's not easy for anyone, and respect for Mum and Dad. May Frankie have the best life possible. x

Frankie hope your having a great day. Your family is awesome. I have a grandson with similar issues. My wife and I have custody of him. He is a joy to our hearts. He has a big head too. We wrestle and sometimes he bops me with it. I tell him dude you got me with the wrecking ball. Lol he always giggles. Well, glad to see you here. Wish you all the joy in the world.our grandson just started standing up and walking a little. He's 4.

Aww the sister... "What should someone do if they want to be Frankie's friend?" "Ask him I guess"

I really love this whole family, but really felt for the dad especially and what he said resonated. My 9 yo kiddo is nonspeaking but is very joyful, and I get the duality of, on one hand the profound joy we share to experience our kiddo's happiness and laughter, as well as the heaviness to the heart of that degree of communication struggle. I feel the whole "I love him so much it hurts" sentiment in terms of the challenges kiddos with immense struggles have faced, currently face, and will face going through life in a world not built for them - but we try our best to change the world when and where we can. Thank you guys for sharing your story, I loved getting to know Frankie through your video!
