An issue that few seem to be discussing is electrical contact continuity and how to maintain it. A few years ago my spouse was riding her step through EasyMotion up a steep hill when the motor suddenly lost power. She plunged down a steep rocky embankment while still on her heavy suffering serious injured. When I called the shop who sold us the bike they said it was her fault because she was riding the bike right. I eventually traced the problem to an improper warranty repair. There is a need for a discussion of electrical contact issues and repairs including measures to keep contacts clean when transporting ebikes with batteries and controllers removed.

Why would I not use my ebike in the winter? What do you mean when you say "season"? Otherwise, well presented and I wish you'd publish more vids.

Thanks for your comment. We will certainly be making more videos in the coming months. There are no problems riding your ebike in the winter. Many riders typically put away their bikes for the season when winter arrives and don't use their bikes during that period (cold temperatures, snow etc....). This video was created to help those riders. Ride safe & take care.

Hi ya, nice video... I have Haibike hardseven 7. On this bike i’ve added an extra Bosch battery on the down tube, giving me 1000w total for longer rides. In England the weather in Jan & Feb was completely wet (Floods everywhere) so I gave cycling a rest until March. Both batteries where left fully charged because I always thought I might be cycling the next day. Now March has arrived and I can cycle the Powertube battery Refuses to charge or give me any power when connected to the bike. The 2nd downtube battery works & charges fine. I’ve tried the 10sec reset button on the power tube & iv bought it in the house to give it a warmer climate, but still no luck. Have you any ideas what’s gone wrong?

Hi there. Suggest taking the battery over to a local shop. It sounds as if you may have either a bent connector or a bad BMS board. If the battery is less than 2 years old you still have warranty coverage.

I have just bought the cube acid one 400 and was wondering if you could tell me what i'm doing wrong in not being able to lock the battery in? I turn the key and slip it down inside and release the key....i'm guessing it is supposed to snap in and lock fast? i can still lift it back out again regardless of whether i have " locked " it or not with the key.

Hi there, it sounds as if you may have a cable running just under where the battery mounts. With the battery off the bike simply slide the cable to the side (should be a plastic cable runner that the cable clamps into) and the battery will fit perfectly

On the bottom of your battery there is a line that says "Lithium ion" and a series of letters/numbers. After the "R" you will see 2 digits 18, 19, 20 etc.... which is the year the battery was manufactured

Just got a Tern eBike with the Bosch system and battery. I looked at your video and have one question. Some (non-Bosch) manufacturers recommend a periodic extended balancing charge of up to 12 hours. Is this something that would be beneficial for the Bosch batteries? Thanks.

I’ve got a Bosch 625 battery on my cube action team. It’s full charged at 100%. With the bad weather we’re having. Haven’t had the chance to go out. It’s been a month now. Will this damage the battery stored at 100%.

Hello. If it’s for a month or so you are OK. Typically for longer periods of non use its good practice to discharge the battery 🔋 to around 40-60% state of charge (SOC). If this is not possible some Bosch ebike dealers have invested in the Bosch ebike battery diagnostics tool which allows us to prepare the battery for optimal storage for our customers. New user here. We have Bosch power tubes. Is it best to keep the battery removed from the bikes during storage? Also, is there a location on the power tube where you can plug in the charger for charging?

If the bikes are kept at a temperature of around 15 - 26C (59F - 80F) then there is no need to remove them from the bikes. There is a charging port on the end of the battery (same as on the bike) where you simply plug your charger into. What's important is to ensure your batteries are store at around 60% or less state of charge for long term storage. Hope this helps.

I’m in Las Vegas. Very hot. 100° in my garage. I see I should put my battery somewhere to be at 50-77° when not using. I’ve done that. It’s in a mini fridge at 76° in garage. Now I read you can charge battery up to 113° How can that be. If battery hates high temperatures how can it be ok to charge in hot garage. I’m confused

Wondering if this is a concern if I keep using it like this....Have a bike with only 1500 Kms on it, out of warranty with a Powerpack 400 and 4 amp charger. A few weeks ago when charging it started doing incomplete charges. The 5 LEDs on the battery would remain on instead of all going out at the end of the charge session. They remain that way no matter how long I leave it on the charger and does this on or off the bike. This does result in a less than 100% charge. If I unplug the charger until all lights go out and plug it back in the 5th light flashes and after about 20 minutes all lights go out and the battery is at 100%. I do plan on having it checked once the season is over just seeking advice and if this is a common issue.

Try to discharge your battery until you get down to 1 bar then recharge. If this does not correct the issue bring it it in to you preferred shop to connect up to the Bosch battery analyzer to check the health of the battery. Haven them also test the battery charger to ensure it consistently charges the battery up to 100%. Hope this helps.

Hi, Can you help me please. I have a Raleigh Motus ebike with a rear rackmount Bosch 400 battery. Most of the year I have been getting 15 miles for each of the 5 bars, although I never cycle 75 miles in one ride! However, last week this dropped to 7 miles per bar so I needed the fully charged battery to get me home at the end of my 35 mile ride. The outside temperature was 10C. Would you expect such a dramatic drop in power?

Would suggest bring in your battery to your local Bosch retailer that has the battery diagnostics tool. The mileage you are getting is way too low. Even if your tire pressure was low you should be getting more mileage than that.

@@SCOOTERETTI Hi again. I have pre-warned the dealer about my concerns and told him about my plan to go for a ride this week to check out how far the battery will last. On 15th February 2021 they had to test the battery for another reason (the Intuvia was displaying incorrect data - sorted now). That test seemed to indicate that the battery was perfect. I am concerned that another test might show the same results even though the battery isn't lasting more than 50% of what it should. Also the local dealer's knowledge is very limited. Any ideas that I could suggest to the dealer in the event of the battery check proving ok? Could the Bosch motor be faulty? Many thanks.

If you can drain it by going out for a ride you should bring it into your favorite Bosch retailer and have them discharge the battery using the Bosch battery analyzer that will prep the battery with long term storage.
