Bosch Ice Maker Repair Model B36CD50 / Easy Fix!

Ice maker was not making ice or dispensing water. Light on ice maker still worked, but no ice or water. Determined I needed a new control board. This video shows step by step installation. Bosch Fridge Freeze Model B36CD50 (E-NR) SNS 03. Had unit for 1.5 years at time of control board failure.

UPDATE: BOSCH REFUSED TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THE PART EVEN THOUGH THE UNIT WAS LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD. THE WARRANTY WAS ONLY 1 YEAR, AND THEY INSISTED THAT I PAY AN APPLIANCE REPAIRMAN TO COME OUT AND DO THE JOB. THAT WOULD HAVE TAKE 1-2 WEEKS AND COST ME ANYWHERE FROM $200-$500 FOR A SERVICE CALL.

Thank you for this video. Reminds me of youtube before it became a business for sonmany creators. It's very refreshing to see an upload for the sole purpose of helping someone else. I have the same bosch unit. I do like it, but i know it won't last like my old one that finally bit the dust after 27yrs. At least i know how easy it is to change the board now!

Ok I fixed my e2 error which was not making ice looked similar. I took out a few screws and removed parts in ice maker until all the pieces were out (except the insulated box which just hangs loose). I set the icemaker assembly in the sun and used a hair dryer to speed the process. Unplug the fridge and then just drain and thaw the icemaker. Use the dryer on the icemaker freezer line to defrost it as well. After all the ice melts and drains from the icemaker, slap it all back together and you should be good to go. Worked for me. If you don’t trust yourself ask your local fridge technician to help you remove the icemaker and try thawing it before you buy a new one (they quoted me $280). Good luck.

Mine wasn't making ice or dispensing water. I had tried defrosting everything. My issue was not with the ice maker, it works fine. It was the board that was bad.

I just got the E2 code as well. I just changed the filter this past weekend and thought that might be the issue. I threw the circuit breaker (to cut power to the fridge) and let it sit off for about 10 mins. That seemed to correct the problem for a few days but now the E2 code is back. I have water but no ice is being produced. I’m gonna try your technique. How did you get the ice dispenser open? I don’t want muscle it for fear I might break it. I also don’t see a release button.

Hey! Thanks for the video. Did the ice maker stop producing ice as well? Or was it just not dispensing it? Mine is having the same E3 error and doesn't dispense ice or water and it stopped making ice too.

It stopped producing ice or dispensing water. Nothing happened when I tried all buttons. However, the light still worked. Changing the control board fixed all.

I am having a problem with the fridge not making ice. Water comes out fine. I don't hear water circulating to the ice maker. I couldn't do the self-test. Holding down Menu did nothing. I also couldn't turn off the ice maker by pressing lock+light. I ended up locking the front panel. Do you think a new control board will fix it? My unit is out of warranty for 2.5 months. Missing my old LG.

This worked perfectly! As Gray said, it's pretty simple and easy to do. I only required about 15 minutes. The replacement part was about $180. Gray, did you get your $$$ back from Bosch? My unit is about three years old. Thanks so much!

@@GrayCrosby but you also have to know that this unit produces 12 pounds of ice a day which is more than any other unit sold in the United States.
