Bosch Tassimo not working - easy fix

There's another problem that can crop up on "High mileage" units that displays the same symptom. When you lock the lid down, the side of the lid pushes against a mechanism that acts on a microswitch hidden on the left hand side. If you lift the lid and get down low to the left of the unit you can see it. Because both parts are plastic, over time they wear slightly, and eventually the unit can't tell that the lids shut fully. 4 of my friends and myself all bought Bosch Tassimo T20 units at the same time (They were on sale at half price at (IIRC), Curries, so were ludicrously cheap), but one by one we all saw this same problem. You'll usually see this build up over time, as you'll start having to give the lid an extra hard push to get the green light to come on, then eventually you'll need to stand there holding the lid down for it to work. There's a simple fix though. You just need to make the lever the lid presses that activates the switch a bit thicker. You can do this by putting a tube of something on it. Personally, I now have a little stub of heat shrink electrical tubing on mine as it was quick, simple, and seems to last very well, but I've also used a small ring of wide plastic straw that I carefully shrank on with a lighter. It's more fiddly than heat shrink, but it still works. The only other tip worth sharing about these is, BUY AT LEAST ONE REUSABLE POD !!! These reusable pods aren't quite as convenient as the disposable ones, but they're a lot less involved than using a normal coffee percolator. It's significantly cheaper if you get through a lot of coffee, and a selection of several different ground coffees are available from pretty much every supermarket on the planet these days, where as, I used to have to order Tassimo pods online because my local supermarket didn't stock them ! The reusable pods may seem expensive, but I've had mine for 4 or 5 years now, and they've paid for themselves many times over when compared to the cost of disposable pods........ Oh, and as an ecology loving friend of mine points out, used coffee grounds become compost, but used coffee pods become landfill.

Great! Thanks. My wife had been trying to clean the barcode reader window, but either the coffee dregs or the cloth she was using must have been abrasive. It had been basically obscured like ground glass. So I used some Brasso to polish it to a clear state and it works fine now.

I find with mine, when i put the creamer pod in, it brews water for the coffee so i end up with a shot of creamer and the coffee pod when inserted brews the amount of water for the creamer if it makes sense. It’s basically backwards and i wonder if you could help please?

I'm sorry Stella, I only drink black coffee so haven't had this issue. The bar code on the pod tells the machine how much water to use. There are loads of different Tassimo pods but you might need to try a few to find the ones that you prefer.
