05:40 This is why I like your videos, Colin. You often describe the circuitry and how it effects the tone in a pedal, using your technician experience (and some sexy graphics). Others do it less frequent or in less detail. While it is not essential for a guitarist to know, it helps understand how the pedals work.

Sweet pedal. And you're skill-set amazes me. You play Metal, Rock, Blues, Funk, Jazz, Punk, Celtic( I hope that flys being with you being Scottish) influenced folk songs. I appreciate that you just don't stick to one style. I started playing jazz drums before I heard my first SLAYER ALBUM then metal took hold. Yet I enjoy playing every style I can learn. Funk drumming is not so dirty secret and the Jazz drummers can give the Metal guys a run for there money! Thanks for making great material and educating us all along the way. Cheers from the States!

In comparison to my CE-2, it sounds more transparent and subtle. If I wanted a really noticeable 80’s Police-esque chorus sound, I’d go for the CE-2, but if I wanted a sound more akin to the effect achieved by layering lots of guitars on top of eachother, the DC-2 is perfect. Great demo my dude!

@pikkuarska
@pikkuarska 5 жыл бұрын
btw. the CE-2 is pure awesomeness (I bought a CE-2B for its cheaper price. I can always lower the highpass on the effect side to match it 100% to the CE-2 by doing a simple part switch, if I ever wanted to).
@User-jk8wq
@User-jk8wq 5 жыл бұрын
pikkuarska Oh yeah, forgot that Summers never actually used the CE-2! Still, it is still one of the best 80’s chorus sounds and I know for a fact that Steve Clarke used one on Def Leppard’s Love Bites and Hysteria. Never tried a CE-2B, but I’m quite materialistic with pedals and love the look of the CE-2, as stupid as that is!

1/31/2021 I’m 2 years late on the release of the Boss DC 2W but it offers so much more and was worth the wait for sure! Colin your demos offer so much more too. It isn’t just another demo when you give us your take and input on anything. I golfed with a Scot for years and couldn’t understand every other word but he told it like it was with a smile! My Boss DC 2W arrived just a few days ago and I’ve got a couple of hours with it on my board. What a Different and moreover interesting approach to the standard Chorus pedal. I kept my MXR Analog Chorus on the board and wow how different they are and each fills a special section of my soundscape. The Boss Dimension is just that, an additional depth and dimension adding machine. Next I’ll hook up my rig in stereo to experience the full effects of the pedal. Please keep up the good work and thanks for a great channel...😷

Thanks for demoing this. I've been curious about it since it came out a few weeks ago. I have a plea for help here, though. I have to admit that I struggled with your explanation of how it works. I understand the gist of how (most other) chorus pedals work, although I'm not a programmer or electronics guy in any meaningful sense. That aside for a second, can't this kind of thing be made with the usual control knobs? Or, even better, is there a way to recreate it in a DAW, especially without accidentally reinventing a flange? This is why I was hoping to understand the workings better. Are there any other resources that can help? Thanks in advance!

It was out front throughout this video, with the exception of track at the beginning where the recorded distorted sounds were sent back through the effect. It basically works wherever, but if you want to use it stereo, run it out front into two amps.

I purchased one of these around the time you made this video. I wonder how it would compare to the 5150 Van Halen chorus. I deleted my other comment because my eyes are the lampstands of my soul. Three is Gravity and two are informed that they are Betty and Lisa. The cube space time continuum universe has eight corners. We take turns being lifted up into the north corner. There was a funny thing about Job in Revelation Chapter 11 and about high definition television and a rock down Millcreek Park.

SOMEBODY DO SOME R&D AND GET THAT FUCKER BACK ON THE MARKET!!!" Without TC electronic, we would've only got the Waza-Zone, Which we only got because of KZbinrs overhyping a heavily shat on pedal after shitting on it for years. The world we live in is.... strange....
@ScienceofLoud
@ScienceofLoud 5 жыл бұрын
Firstly, the TC pedal is simply a mono chorus, it doesn't do any of the unique things the DC-2 does. It falls at the first hurdle in regards to being a cheap alternative. Secondly, you've got it backwards. The KZbin surge of Metal Zone videos were in preparation for the launch of the Waza Zone. We were making those videos with the Waza sitting just out of frame.
